The B-Ark / Histon Away
« on: February 03, 2014, 01:11:24 PM »
Living just around the corner from the Histon ground I can confirm the pitch is not in the best of shape! You can see the surface from the road and Its going to be heavy legs all around!
Histons match on saturday was cancelled at home, hopefully the pitch will recover in time but we need to be wary of a rested Histon squad!
Huge 3 points up for grab!

Are we expecting a big away following like the new years day fiasco?

Up the pilgrims!

A positive atmosphere can turn games. Thats a fact! We are in the best position we have been in in a long time!

If we get behind the boys we can easily grab a few extra points.

Its a snow ball effect. The more we win , the more will come through the doors, the better the atmosphere, the higher up the league we'll go , the more money!

People generally find their level . Timms has been in the game long enough, he may have ability but he also has a questionable history.
No one is bigger than the club, and I get the impression after an impressive start Timms has already 'talked' himself up and out the club, enough to rub people up the wrong way.
He may work his way up the pyramid and best of luck, but maybe we need someone that will put the team first.

Would be interesting to know what's going on behind the scenes though.

Timms lost it on Saturday.  When he got booked for kicking the ball away, it was the second time he had kicked the ball out, claiming there was something wrong with it.  Completely idiotic - if there is something wrong with the ball, show it to the ref - he's in charge not you.  He seemed to lose focus after that.  Even before that, he wasn't coming for the ball at set pieces, which the bench were telling him to do.  The management have also clearly been unhappy with his distribution in several games.  If he's as good as he's supposed to be, that must mean he is not following instructions rather than not able to do it.  I do think he's a decent keeper but perhaps not the best 'team player'.  Loose cannons like that can have an adverse effect on team spirit, so if we can get a competent keeper who will fit into the team ethic (and maybe for less money), let's do it.  Something has clearly been brewing, because all that stuff about training at Sheff Utd didn't sound good - sounded like DG saying to the player that while he's playing for us he should be concentrating on that, not tarting himself to another team; I suspect Timms didn't like that so now we have irreconcilable differences.

Bore has been unreliable.  Too often he defends like a winger - OK if he's playing as a winger but as a full back I can think of a number of games where he has cost us goals.  Worcester was the worst example but too many goals have come from that flank.

I was surprised Sansara was left out on Saturday, although I think he might be another one who doesn't always follow instructions and he can be prone to losing concentration.  I like him as a full back - wonder if he will switch to the right, or maybe Galinski will play there, or will Marshall or Aujla drop back to right back?  Steer looked good at left back, if a bit short of match fitness at this level.

DG is still developing his team.  There seems to be some criticism on this thread based on nothing more than the fact that he is trying to make improvements - ffs give the bloke a chance.  The team has progressed a lot since he arrived.  He inherited a "defence" that was under threat from the Trades Description Act, and has improved it greatly.  We have 3 decent central defenders, but full back is still a problem area, and it is now being addressed.

Hopefully he has a new keeper lined up and we can move onwards and upwards.  End of rant!

GREAT POST BURTON PILGRIM!!

Beat Alty and everything changes! Lets get behind the boys. Yes, yesterday was frustrating but we need to move on.
We are in the best position we have been in, in along time.
1 game doesn't define a season!

Raises the question again, is he worth it? Can we afford him? all questions we can't answer. By all accounts he has been dubbed a very good player, highly rated. I've been impressed by DG and his transfer activity so far!

Do we have the money to 'buy' this contract? What sort of fee would it commend? These rules are very confusing!

Piergianni becomes latest signing

Boston United have made their third summer signing with the acquisition of former Peterborough United defender Carl Piergianni.

The 21-year-old centre-half, who played for Corby Town in 2012-2013, follows hot-on-the-heels of fellow arrivals Ashley Timms and Gary Mills.

Piergianni, who played for the Pilgrims’ Centre of Excellence during his teenage years, made his Football League debut as a Peterborough player in 2010.

He made 44 appearances for Stockport County during the 2011-2012 Blue Square Bet Premier campaign (scoring four goals in the process).

Piergianni also enjoyed brief loan spells with Spalding United and Altrincham during his Peterborough days.

United boss Dennis Greene told bufc.co.uk: "Carl represents another piece of the jigsaw we are putting together.

"He is a commanding and solid centre-half and has a good pedigree, so we are looking forward to working with him once pre-season gets under way."

Top signing by all accounts! He want's to prove himself at a higher level, young , vocal  and will be a much needed strong presence at the back.
Well done DG! More of the same!
