“Why would Grimsby even want to pay compensation when there is plenty of managers out there with league experience that are free agents.“

Probably for the same reason DN paid compensation to lure him to Boston

Apparently has now signed for Alfreton Town. Gainsborough not to his liking.

Curious

Trained with Trinity all season to get fit. Reaches fitness and gets a deal until end of season.
Chris Moyses appointed Alfreton manager and his first signing is LB as player coach, after one game for Trinity.

But why would Wilkinson chuck a load of money in to Town only to abandon his "project" there and chuck a load more money at United after a couple of years? That makes literally no sense.

If anything, the sums he finds himself having to plough into Town to drag them up a couple of divisions will mean he won't want to touch us - or any other club - with a bargepole come 2021... he may well be a successful local businessman, but there are clubs in our sphere owned by people in the £200m+ wealth bracket.

Don't think anyone will have to find a load of money to buy BUFC .  David Newton has said all along he will hand the club over debt free , add the fact that the club will not own any valuable assets .

Paul Wilkinson is a very astute business man as the records prove .    Unlike most owners who puts pots of money into clubs I feel sure he would be hands on and work to a sustainable business plan .

Running a club with no debts or assets is not an easy task (ask our chairman)
Your new ground will be owned by someone else, and you will have a lease on it. DN has subsidised BUFC’s budget every year since he took over. Your new owner will need to at least guarantee any shortfall, and as this league is getting even more ridiculous with stupid budgets -then the job is not for the faint hearted
Good business acumen and good luck are needed in equal measure

Willis will be gone IMO.
here's a thought...his old club are desperately clinging to Ravas, but his loan expires in about 4 weeks...so is the answer for Willis and the Tinpots to reunite?

Would be welcome if we lose Ravas. (Thought he played quite well against us)
Your new keeper is from a lower level -might be a reason for that

If your reason is what i think your thinking Boston will be the first club at this level to buy players in advance for lower league football.. Althou im going with the fact that shaw lane had players in there team playing below there level.

No, was thinking that he plays at a lower level because that is his standard
We have had a few players who have done really well in lower leagues, only to be found wanting at higher level. (Some have stepped up and done well - a fine line)

I wasn't at the match listened in on BBC Lincs ,  looking at the video ex-pro Hone I think got it right , the two offences justified a red card .
Makepeace and Hone thought the first offence may have justified a red .
Looking at the second offence several  times my two main observations were , 1. the player did over react after the incident but if he had not jumped he would probably got a smashed ankle at the least .   2 . the ref was within a few feet looking at the incident with a better closer view than fans or video watchers this along with the ex-pro view I think the sending off was well justified .

As for the alleged elbow could anyone see it on the video ?  I failed to do ,   where was the elbow blow supposed to have landed ?
To me it appeared that the claim by Ravas was somewhat delayed .

Not often I disagree with you Steeli but I do on this occasion . sorry .

Wouldn’t do for us all to agree ghm, but also after viewing the second offence lots of times, still come to the conclusion that it was a fair challenge, the ball won cleanly, and the reaction got Jarman a card.
No problems with players jumping out of way, but the ‘pretending’ was disgraceful.
As you say the ref was close by, and should have seen it for what it was.
Your team were playing well, and were marginally on top - this deflects from an otherwise good performance

Not sure which points you are referring to, but highlights are (now) available on you tube, and all my statements are backed up
Btw I was replying to young chubby

If you say about poor facts it was a center midfielder not a center half.

Last player between Jarman (a striker) and the goal.
Perhaps nominally a centre mid, but at that moment he was in centre half position
He should be ashamed of himself getting another player sent off

Well you would say that. Jarman was late with both challenges - 2 bookings very much deserved.

First challenge 50/50
Second challenge he won the ball one footed - your player was late and dived when he didn’t get the ball. Highlights available on you tube

The one thing that I know is that from both fixtures,we have gained 4 points and Trinity got 1.
Points are what will keep you up, not blaming the officials and constant moaning by Mr Frecklington, who should be putting his full focus on stopping your current slide down the league.
Now move on and good luck with the rest of the season.

Can’t argue with the points, think you deserved four points from the two games.
New manager has made a big difference (would have liked to play you when you had the best midfielder in the league) not sure I like all the play acting and haranguing of the ref (Brogan didn’t do it when he played for us) but the team looks quite good

i was replying to your comments as a fellow fan, whoever you intended them to. Its a public forum, so i didn't realise we could only address points specifically put to us as individuals. we too are "in it tog...", no, wait a minute, I've got a better one, " we are United". BTW I was there and don't need highlights.

Being there was good, however as you were best part of 100yards from second incident, perhaps another look might change your mind (perhaps not 😎)

Firstly well done to everyone yesterday players and fan's, a game we should have won easily in the end, we do need to be more clinical in front of goal.
Just listened to Frecklington on YouTube, what planet does this bloke live on, he thought it was an even game, again he bemoans the refs performance and defends Jarman for his disgraceful thuggish behaviour again.
The ref apparently should take in to consideration the wet pit h and the fact they have a small squad.
What Mr Frecklington should do is, put Jarman on a diet, fine him and then look for a replacement.
Trinity will go down, because their manager will not face up to the facts, and defends poor players, he has ruined Jordan Richards and Warren Mason, the only decent player he has got is Ravas, without him yesterday it would have been an embarrassing thrashing for Trinity.
I am just thankful that we didn't get Frecklington as our manager, or we would have been watching the tripe that he calls a good team.

Good rant. Total bollocKs though

Jarman should not have been booked for either (fair) challenge - but disgraceful reaction of BUFC players (all swarming round the ref demanding red) probably sealed his fate. The first was a 50/50 the second was a clean tackle - watch the highlights on you tube
Contrast this with Thompson, who could have been booked four times including the equaliser
When he jumped leading with his elbow which caught our keeper. Foul, no goal and second yellow
Trinity shaded first half with two really good saves by Willis, and two good efforts for Boston

Second half and Boston started much better, the theatrics which ensured Jarman was sent off (defender jumping up and running off as soon as red was shown, is a little embarrassing for your player) left Boston in box seat for rest of game, but without any conviction in front of goal.

Draw was probably fair, but Boston will feel they should have won with extra man for most of second half

Btw who is Warren Mason?
Firstly bad offensive language is not the way we communicate on here, so if you want to use language like that go to the Facebook site.
Childish to pick out and make a point getting a players name wrong, when you clearly know who I am talking about.
To defend Jarman is futile,he has a track record for being sent off for dangerous tackle's and violent conduct, so ref's are always going to be looking out for him.
All players surround referees, so yours would have done the same.
At the end of the day, you are probably a little sore about the results and the fact that we are now streak's ahead of you regarding quality on the pitch, and our manager is far better than yours and actually has the guts to stand up and tell the truth about his players, good or bad.
Unlike Frecklington who just blows sunshine up his players backside, and blame's the officials.
What you really want to be worried about is loosing Ravas, without him between the sticks you are buried as he saved you from a thrashing on Monday, and that was confirmed by him getting MOM.
Perhaps he might be heading to Boston now, as he would be the only player of yours we would want, you keep the rest of your dross and Boston rejects.

Take your points in order
Bad language not acceptable
Wrong name, poor research or proof reading on your part
Whatever Jarman’s previous, he was booked twice wrongly, and you neglect to mention the ridiculous reaction of your centre half - he should be ashamed of himself
Not all players surround the ref - note Trinity’s reaction to Thompson leading with his elbow to equalise
You drew against a team with ten for most of second half - quality didn’t show there
Ravas played well, good handling, but your keeper made more outstanding saves on the day

Did you actually go to the game?

We do have some ex Boston players - and you have at least four in your sixteen who have played for us. Two of whom you paid for

Your manager has only been there a few weeks give him time

Yes the trinity must have been delighted to sell us a goalie who could not get in their side that narrowly avoided relegation .

It seemed agreed that the 3 games under Hawley we looked a far better team , well capable of climbing out of the relegation zone .
I wonder what's changed under the new manager that made us go backwards ?
I suggest he moves Hawley , Hemmings and Willis out (a lot easier said than done ) .

To be fair, most of us thought there was little difference between Willis and Nicholson (our other keeper, now keeping bench warm at Halifax)
Keepers are usually judged by how they cope with poor defenders in front of them.
Boston are similar to us (I’m sure you don’t like to see that written down) in that we are both unable to compete with the ridiculous budgets of stupid clubs in this division.
Staying in this division will be success for both clubs (even though your fans think you should be challenging for play offs) and we are both shopping in the cheap end of the market.
The division below will be no respite, although we have beaten both Grantham and Stafford this season, we were second best in both games - and got walloped by Slough and their (alleged) 18k pw  budget
