The B-Ark / Re: Greg Mills

Nice for us to actually sign a player from a club in the same league we play in - that doesn't seemed to have happened much for the past couple of seasons!

Will be interesting to see Greene's signings if he's around next season, with one or two notable exceptions generally signings under JL and Drury were not very inspiring.

Sorry but I've never understood why so many Boston fans thought Jason Stokes was a good player.

Mazy runs down the wing are not much use if there's no end product and with him there was never a decent cross, shot or anything at the end of it....if you got points for runs down the wing he would be worth having, but you don't!

JL, Drury and now Househam at Trinity have all not started him very often - surely that three managers running haven't rated him must tell you something.

The B-Ark / Re: Mark Jones approach: Drury takes a swipe at Trinity
« on: January 13, 2013, 11:57:44 AM »
Don't think Drury has said a great deal wrong really....he was simply stating what we all know that Boston is a much bigger club than Trinity and on football grounds you would pick Boston over Gainsborough....heard his interview on radio and certainly didn't sound like a "swipe" to me!!!

On the touchline he is lively, but no more than many other managers.

Amazed, as someone else said, how you cannot please some moaning Boston fans - Jason Lee was criticised for being passionless on sidelines, now Drury's showing too much passion!!!

The B-Ark / Re: Kern Miller...

Kern Miller is clearly trouble - you only need to look at how many clubs he's had with so few appearances to see that.

Lincoln City fans said he was trouble when we signed him and it seems they were right - you don't get left out of the squad altogether like yesterday purely on form.

Obviously more to it than just form which from the times I've seen him wasn't very good anyway. Personally sooner see Wardy there so pleased he's gone.

Also agree but Jason Lee pays for him not the club so surely it's up to him?

The B-Ark / Re: Should Lee and Cannovile be offered new deals?
« on: April 16, 2012, 11:24:47 PM »
It disappoints me that some seem to be accusing David Newton of a lack of ambition by appointing Jason Lee.

This is insulting in the extreme to someone who has poured (based on the last fans' forum) more than a million pounds of his money into the club.

Unlike some here, he takes a reasoned, long-term view of how to build a football club and in my eyes has, and continues to do, a fantastic job.

Anyone who has seen him talk at fans forums would know he is hugely ambitious for the club - but he won't bankrupt it trying to chase such ambitions.

BTW, Sir Alex Ferguson finished mid-table in his first two years at Man United - good job the United board didn't think like some on here!!!

I think it's quite a tricky decision, but you have to remember David Newton is better placed to make it than most of us.
He sees them behind-the-scenes, sees things we don't, how they work, how they conduct themselves etc, exactly what budget they are working with.

What I like about them is that they never complain about referees nor do they keep banging on about small budgets like some managers do.

In flashes, in the second half they've shown real potential. Also, many clubs have been rewarded by taking a long-term view and stuck with managers after unspectacular starts....on that basis I'm a YES for them.

The B-Ark / Kick-off moved to 1230 Bishop Stortford away!
« on: July 19, 2011, 04:37:31 PM »
Just seen this on scottydalton twitter...sounds a strange idea...heard of games moved for TV, internationals, police advice but never for something like this....

scottydaltonSony Award™ winning BBC broadcaster Scott Dalton
BUFC game at Bish Stort Sept 3 moved to 12.30 kick-off to accommodate ground geeks on Non League Day. I'm not making this up!

Moved as there is some crazy idea that fans will want to see three non-league games in Essex in one day - also 3pm game and Lincoln 7pm

The B-Ark / Re: CHURCHY.............
« on: July 02, 2011, 02:24:22 PM »
I think a lot of Boston fans are in danger of completely losing the plot to the whole Grimsby situation.

While I think David Newton is quite right to try and get compensation for Scott and Hurst (it's his job to do the best for the club), I actually don't think either of them did anything wrong. They resigned their posts  to go to a  better job - remember they were being offered full-time football, the one thing we couldn't offer them.

As for Church, he was very clear - he wanted to either go full-time (which he has now done) or if he couldn't go down south and get a part-time club and/or a new job out of football. The point he made about not wanting the travelling was as it would be part-time with Boston.

Personally I wish Scott/Hurst/Pearson/Church all the best - and am pleased we have played a part in the careers of people (particularly the managers) who are likely to go much higher.

From scottydalton Twitter....

Shaun Pearson onBBCHumb confirms he's had talks with Grimsby Town, but can't comment further. His signing there likely to be confirmed soon.

On Cully's tweets, they are clearly just a joke.

He's not bitter at all....they are in the spirit of Twitter banter and clearly not meant to be taken seriously.

Amazed so may of our fans get outraged by them - I think that must be part of his fun in doing them that so many people haven't worked out they are just a joke!

DN actually said the budget had been "slightly reduced" so it doesn't sound like it's going to be much different to last season.

I'm sure him or Neil  also said at a forum that they don't budget to go any further than the entry point for the cup runs which seems entirely sensible as then any kind of progress is a bonus.
