Only saw him the once, v Southport.

Thought he was shockingly bad. Unbelievably slow, too heavy to get off the ground for a header, contributed nothing. Only skill seemed to be his ability to pass the ball back to the player who threw the ball in - oh and complain to the referee. A defender's dream I would suggest.

As soon as he was subbed, the game changed, had some pace up front and grab the win. ;)

Eye off the ball (no pun intended) whilst the stadium build is in progress?

Seems to be a combination of things; Brexit probably adding to costs, downturn in the housing market, lack of confidence in the economy going forward - contributing to the delay.

Chestnuts are planning to make money (break even at least) on the project, hence delaying to maximise revenue and meeting planning criteria.

Presumably the downturn in the housing market is also to the club's benefit as the Malkinsons are probably in no rush to redevelop York Street in a period of softening demand.

The Quadrant is a commercial enterprise for the Chestnuts so they will only move forward when it makes commercial sense for them.

A couple of years ago, I took my Australian son-in-law to see Everton play. It was a dull game, so to make up for it, I took him to see Southport.

It was a great laugh. A jumped-up nobody playing for Southport embarrassed himself and the home fans by behaving like a total clown. At the merest touch, he continually fell over and complained to the referee. Even his own fans started to barrack him. That may be why he's moved on so much.

Have we really fallen this low? I only hope he's changed his ways, or he'll be gone soon.

Always like to hear a good story - thanks for sharing.

It's one observation, so let's chill everyone, and stop the abuse. :bunny

From the outset the Chestnuts have always said that they will develop an area with housing that includes a stadium and hand the club over to a 'supporters' trust'. Not sure the further detail was ever announced.

They never wanted to run a club as such, it is a building development for them, but to achieve that aim they have had to run a club in the meantime. Profit made from such a development plus any grants etc. will pay for the stadium.

The Chestnuts saved the club at the time, with an eye for a profit down the line. Let's hope its a 'win, win' situation.

Oh the irony of Sunderland voting over 60% to exit Europe, and the biggest employer already voicing genuine concerns about being in a post Europe Britain and trying to export back into Europe with the likelihood of at least a 10% tariff.

Unintended consequence might be lower immigration, as the increasing unemployed Brits means Britain won't have to rely on immigrants to fill vacancies  :bunny

Is it "genuine concerns" or more likely the posturing you would expect a world class firm to adopt when doing a deal ?

At this stage it is likely to involve some posturing but they based themselves in the European free trade market, that will change and therefore their business model is somewhat altered - a tariff was not in their original plans.
Was at BMW in Oxford last week, with 80% of their production for export they face a similar dilemma.

Has apparently taken charge of training this morning at Thorp Arch (Leeds United's Training facility).

Any truth in the rumours that the warm up is "6 laps around me"?

3 laps max, the Leeds lads aren't that fit. Even Klopp would only make his players do 4 laps    :bunny

Whilst there is no comment, one can only expect rumours and speculation.

Johnny Pilgrim I think it is you that maybe needs to get out and about a bit more. Proportionally I would say the BUFC is up there on the needless abuse and swearing scale.

There are areas of the ground at BUFC, that are painful to be in, the constant moaning and swearing about nothing.

Just been to Southampton v Everton - and after getting a serious lesson in finishing, losing 3- 0, the Southampton crowd remained positive(ish) and appreciative, no swearing through the game (literally no swearing at all). My son remarked as we left the ground that the club have a lot of families (children and women) supporting the team - maybe that is no coincidence.

Funding not in place?  :bunny

Good job it is Mr Newton in charge or there would be an onslaught of abusive comments coming forth .....

The plan as I understood it in the beginning, was to subsidise the club until the ground and the rest of the development was completed then take the money and hand over the club to the 'community'.

In terms of 'commissions' paid for services .... it is common practice around the world, anywhere south of Paris and east of Berlin  :bunny

Another Tory elected to 'represent' Boston ...... whilst not surprised I have to ask why?

What have the Conservatives ever done for the town or county for that matter?

Poor public services, some of the worst roads in the country, underfunded schools and hospitals. Body and Symonds did not give a damn
about their constituents, is this likely to change?

I suppose the only positive is that the Tory vote stop UKIP ..... :P

I did state at the beginning of the season, a concern is that with the new stadium taking centre stage the team may suffer.

Are we in a 'mid-table' holding pattern until the stadium is built and then the club passed onto a 'supporters trust'?
