The B-Ark / Did we over-perform this season?
« on: August 03, 2020, 01:55:44 PM »
Still really disappointed about Saturday, but I don't think you can fault the players or management, everyone has given their absolute best throughout the season.  I really liked the quote before the game saying it's all about having the best team, and not the best individuals, as for me, relatively speaking this was not as good a Boston side as has previously featured in the play-offs.  That's not to say I don't think they did well, but were they really that good as individuals, or has the quality of the division deteriorated?  Did they actually over-perform this year getting to the play-offs in the first place?

Here are the four teams that have reached the play-off finals over the last ten years.   Although not an exact science as we didn't always play 4-4-2,  I've put in bold the player who I rated the best for that position. Only Thanoj and Wright get in my 'best XI' (and I'm not sure about Wright), and it also made me think about what a fantastic team we had in both 2015 and 2016.

I'm really not trying to be negative toward this year's players as clearly, as a team, they have performed very well, but do you agree with my choices?

The B-Ark / New signing?
« on: March 05, 2018, 06:16:59 PM »
I've heard on pretty good authority that the club are about to announce a new signing... somebody we know well and I think most would agree is a good signing.  Sorry for being cryptic

Just to avoid tempting fate I'm 'asking for a friend'.

I can see the Final is May 13th but does anybody know the dates planned for the quarter and semi finals?  Thanks

The B-Ark / Ex-manager speaks out on limiting number of foreigners
« on: March 23, 2015, 07:57:24 PM »
Quite an interesting interview I thought with 'legend' Lee Canoville:

Unfortunately I think wage expectations of home grown players and agents are the main problem here.  They should look to tackle this first before limiting the number of overseas players.

The B-Ark / New Home Kit
« on: July 26, 2013, 05:45:30 PM »
The new home kit has been launched today - what do people think as it's very different to what we've had previously.  Personally I think it makes a nice change and I can definitely visualise Newsham scoring 20+ goals and Netan Sansara sticking a few 30 yard free-kicks into the back of the net whilst wearing it.  I think I might even have to treat myself.  It's available in the club shop tomorrow (Saturday 26/7)

The B-Ark / FA Trophy Final
« on: March 23, 2013, 09:26:55 PM »
Just in case anybody wants to watch Shaun Pearson play at Wembley tomorrow,  a heads up that the game will be live on S4C, probably with Welsh commentary!  I don't think it is on Sky Sports.

Their coverage, which is available in the UK and Ireland on Sky channel 134, Freesat channel 120 and Virgin channel 167, will begin at 2.45pm, with the game kicking off at 3pm.

The B-Ark / Player of the Season?
« on: April 06, 2012, 12:57:07 PM »
It's about that time of the season again to start voting, but I think it's much harder than usual to pick a winner.  Going on pre-season form I would definitely have voted for Ryan Semple, but seeing as he's been injured for most of the season I don't think I can justify voting for him.  Josh Burge has done OK since joining but again hasn't really had an opportunity to shine yet.

I think it's got to be between Bastock, Jelleyman and Newsham with 'the Newsh' getting my vote.  Tom Ward's recent drop in form costs him a nomination.  What do you think?

The B-Ark / v Corby Town

Should be a good game... Although riding relatively high in the table Corby are a pretty mixed run of form at the moment.   If you can't make it, technology permitting there will be live commentary:

We've only done a handful of away matches so far, so fingers crossed everything goes to plan!

We all know what happened to Church & Pearson but what about the other ex-Pilgrims of recent times?

I notice Adam Boyes scored for Barrow in a pre-season friendly yesterday
