The B-Ark / Formation / best 11
« on: February 05, 2023, 01:31:10 PM »
So in an attempt to be proactive, assuming we have the current crop of players to work with, what's the best formation/team? We need more central defensive solidity as I don't believe the back 4 are completely to blame, the midfield just doesn't chase back or gets carved up like butter. Personally I'd put Zak into a central defensive two with Platty, add Cummins to a back 3 with Sephton & Ferguson (cartilage problem?) as wing backs. We'd also get some much-needed width to our attack. Just look how it worked with Jake's goal yesterday. Then either Chadwick or Pollock as the nu.ber 10 behind a front two of Jake & Burrows. Basically a 3-5-2 or 3-2-3-2. Views?

The B-Ark / Best formation?
« on: December 07, 2016, 01:43:10 PM »
In a vain attempt to be proactive in these troubled times, let's debate the best formation that we should adopt in our current position in order to be constructive to Bunny & acknowledging that we only have these players to work with for the time being. The next 4 games are winnable (FCUM, Curzon & Trinityx2) despite only winning 1 of the last 10!

My view would be to keep it simple with a 442, rather than tinker with the more complicated 41212 etc, which I think has exacerbated the defensive confusion over recent weeks. The lads have very little time on the practice ground as it is, so get back to basics, get players in familiar roles & concentrate on the job in hand. my shout as a 1st 11 would be:
Emery; Clappison/Thomas, Joe Robinson, Brown, Gordon; Marshall, Miles, Maguire/Hilliard, St.Juste; Rollins, Smith

The B-Ark / September v August
« on: August 30, 2016, 10:42:31 AM »
I know we're not playing well at the moment, but take a look at the next 6 fixtures & if we're still in the same predicament after September, heads need to roll. However, I'm confident with more time playing together & an improvement in the injury situation, we'll climb that table. We've played 6 of the top 8 in the table in our first 7 matches, & the other one, Stalybridge, we should have won. In our next 6, we play 3 below us, & the highest placed is 11th. Importantly 4 of the 6 are at home, so let's make York Street a fortress again, get behind this young team & give them some confidence.

...for the last 6 games anyway! Interesting to see Stalybridge's recent good form - no guarantees there.
