The B-Ark / So what do we think?
« on: July 24, 2018, 11:24:38 PM »
After seeing us tonight against a mixture of a Lincoln side I was left feeling that we are still in need of 1 or 2 more players.
Ideally a mobile center half and possibly to a lesser extent a target man forward.

It seems Craig agrees as his only trialist was a mobile center half but not the answer.

Think tonight's starting line up will be almost it but I'd leave Margetts out and go with the lively Johnson instead.

I feel we will score lots but also concede lots in high scoring games.
Overall not much wrong though and with a few tweets we could be a play off contender and a side no one will wanna play.

The B-Ark / Ok we win against side that play for nothing.
« on: September 19, 2017, 09:42:40 PM »
Please let's don't get too carried away with our win tonight and wait to judge us against a proper side on Saturday.
Reports please from those that went.
Have we learnt anything or will Murray say he rested chapman???
And has it gave Murray another week or 2 in the job.

The B-Ark / Full admission prices for cup game
« on: September 15, 2017, 05:30:37 PM »
Not happy that the club have decided to keep the prices the same as forca league game for tomorrow's visit of a county league side.
After the dross we have seen it would have been a great way to encourage a few new fans and to see the new faces and hopefully a few goals.
But no to all that and I hope it backfires and the crowd is a low one.
What do we all think???

The B-Ark / £1 for the new team sheet!!!!
« on: August 19, 2017, 09:30:45 PM »
1st of all great all round performance by the lads today ground out the 1st half by winning the battle and then looked a class above in the second. Our closing down all over the pitch was great.

Now this new team sheet idea is a good one but please can we have the correct players on the sheet against the rite numbers after all I prefer to buy the team sheet cos the programme is always completely wrong for line ups.

The B-Ark / Couldnt have been a worse afternoon
« on: August 05, 2017, 04:42:12 PM »
Still playing and how bad an afternoon this has been before you hear how it was the refs fault the reality is we were poor all over.
The 141 that made the long journey well done but I haven't got the time to even begin at how bad this was.
As I'm writing in goes the 4th.

« on: July 14, 2017, 11:22:06 PM »
Just drove past the ground and the floodlights were on thought it was a bit strange as it was 10.30 pm
Does anyone know why maybe you can shed some light on the matter!
Perhaps it's the groundsman working late???

The B-Ark / Youth Team Boston v ilkeston
« on: March 08, 2017, 02:54:11 PM »
Competitive 1st half on a poor surface at Boston Town has Pilgrims slightly edging things at the break 1.0
Further goals in the 47th,71st,77th,81st & 89th mins would see Boston run out 6.0 winners in a totally dominant second half.

The B-Ark / Great as it is
« on: December 22, 2016, 08:49:50 AM »
Yes our win over an average Curzon side was most welcome and well done to the manager and the lads for finding an overdue performance.
It was great to see desire and people apparently playing with a new found fire in themselves.
The new players on that showing look good additions.
My problem is with our existing boys that were on show (smith apart)how comes they have been holding back doing the basics all season where has all the extra work rate been hiding?
Mr Murray should beware at the moment they are all trying to show they are worthy of your selection and long may it continue but as I've said before be ruthless with this lot.
What it has shown is a new boss was needed to get the boys out of a 'just go thro the motions' type of performances that we grew familiar to had seen.
Long may it continue.

The B-Ark / How about Boston v Lincoln on Saturday
« on: December 08, 2016, 11:10:55 AM »
Both teams without a game or could even bring the u21 game forward I'm sure you can play 3 over age players. Bit of a thought I'm sure it would work but maybe bit short notice.

The B-Ark / Im worried and its only pre season
« on: July 23, 2016, 11:40:47 PM »
Funny how football can divide opinions on what we watch week in and out but for me having seen all the pre season friendlies I feel unless we add around 4 more quality players to the squad we are going to be in for a tough ride this season my reasons are as follows and we should be starting to gel instead of leaving the game today with more headaches to ponder.
Ok yes we were without Brown,Hilliard, and Rollings who would all be starters and its a pre season game its hot etc etc...
Only 4 subs today proves how thin on the ground body wise we are.
For me its obvious we need to find a good forward now where he will come from I just don't know but I'm afraid the two lads who are classed as forwards are way off whats required. It amazed me Boston fans were constantly having a go at ex Pilgrim Robbings as his 60 mins on the pitch today had more about him than we have seen from our new strikers and Robbings was branded as lazy when he was with us!?!?
Robberts once again gave his all as he does week in and out and Pepe in midfield started to pull the strings in the second half he really is a player. Also like the look of Chippendale linked things up well and can certainly strike a ball.
Now for the minus points St Juste only looks interested when the ball is around him doesn't really offer much when we don't have the ball, he is way off the player that always has looked a huge threat when playing against us. Marshall can beat a player and has a trick but he constantly has way too many touches however has looked better out wide in the last 2 games than he did playing down the middle.
Well that's all for the players now for how we are playing... Looking very shaky from crosses and set plays at both ends of the pitch we have conceded a fair few from crosses already and not looked like much of a threat at the other end. Maguire is a decent addition however if he doesn't get on the end of things no one else shows the desire needed to do so.
The full backs have shown they are okish going forward and have good movement but don't like defending when the winger cuts inside and they need to show more strength.
I believe that with the current players we can get a decentish 11 on the pitch but we all know 11 players wont last long into our season without injuries suspensions etc.
We will probably wait till around end of September and get some loan players in who will be young and untested.
Another dominant center half is needed and another forward of real quality urgently as well as a couple better quality additions to bulk the squad out to create competition.

So to finish id like to ask you all given the games you have seen so far and based on the players we have where do you think we will finish??

I'm going for around 16th to 20th.

The B-Ark / Get the squad sorted early.
« on: May 17, 2016, 10:05:55 AM »
Please can this season we get the squad sorted early as in the last 2 seasons we have had indifferent starts only to have all to late great finishes.
Id like to see all the in's and out's sorted asap (which to be fair looks like Dennis is trying to do).

So what is needed this season player wise??
Last year we could all see we needed a keeper, Left Back and Center midfielder and it took a long long while to sort.

1st target for me would be a replacement for Pidge to play alongside Nat Brown he was excellent and added the vital experience the team lacks.(we need to sign Nat as well)
2nd We need to sort Southwell is he staying or going. Id like to see us sign another striker anyhow. One that we can have ready just incase Southwell leaves us a few weeks into the season.
3rd Id like to see another type of midfielder to add to the squad so we can vary our play a little in this area to cope with the stronger physical sides.
4th A bit more strength in depth a bench that has more about it. So generally bolster the squad by 2 or 3 extra bodies that are capable of being 1st team regulars.

I feel as Dennis says if we can get our best side on the pitch we can win games but we need more depth to the squad now id be asking Mr Newton to get us up this season with the new ground coming and the chance for him to coin it in with his housing build surely there is some extra funds available it would be so nice to be in our new home in the National League Prem.

This is what I feel is needed if we are to go for it this year rather than hope it happens like in the past 3 seasons.
Your thoughts???
