The B-Ark / 2nd Round Draw
« on: November 10, 2019, 08:59:17 PM »
Is tomorrow at 7pm.

Great to see home draw against Ipswich/Lincoln, Sunderland, Portsmouth. All of those would be TV ties along with Coventry who I imagine would bring a fair few fans along too. Not that many non-league sides left so you would think a home game against most FL sides would likely have some sort of coverage.

Really hope we avoid an away game at Fylde, Dover, Forest Green, Plymouth or Carlisle. Combination of being miles away and quite good, some of the L1 and L2 sides don't really get the same sort of attendances judging from some of the games this weekend. Blackpool looked empty from the highlights.

If you're looking for a winnable tie then either Chichester or Altrincham are the ones.

Spot of bother up at Gigg Lane if you guys have been following this story.

Their owner went on Talksport for an absolute car crash of an interview today https://twitter.com/talkSPORT/status/1162330968604237824

Unfortunately very reminiscent of the last days of Chester City. An absolute charlatan of an owner putting out ridiculous statements on the club's website and typing IN ALL CAPS like professional owners do. 5 games already postponed and looking very bleak indeed. If they're expelled which they will be if the EFL stick to their deadline then that will be liquidation at this stage of the season. I'm not sure why the owner is still hanging around, there's no shady potential property deals like they were planning at Hereford so I think the bloke is just a nutter.

Luckily for us our bad apple owner knew when it was time to bugger off when some genuine people came knocking.

The B-Ark / Hereford

I must admit I feared the worst ahead of this, long away trip with a decimated squad, many of them I thought would be on the proverbial beach.

But was pleased with the attitude and application shown, we got a bit lucky with the first goal but defended well, with Willis having a good game in particular. Doubt the Hereford manager will be there next season given some of the chants in his direction.

Anyway enjoy the summer folks

The B-Ark / Promotion race
« on: April 22, 2019, 05:47:01 PM »
I see Chorley massively bottled their best chance of automatic promotion today. Missed a penalty late in the second half whilst 0-0 and then conceded a 94th minute goal to lose 1-0.

Had they held on they would have just needed to win on the final day and they would have gone up. Now all Stockport have to do is beat bottom club Nuneaton and promotion will be theirs, despite them losing to Chorley the other day.

The B-Ark / Grimsby
« on: April 02, 2018, 05:30:17 PM »
Grimsby (and former Pilgrim's Zak Mills and James McKeown) in a sticky situation in League 2, 22nd place and four points clear of the drop but the team below, Chesterfield have 3 games in hand on them. They do however, play them next week which is a game neither side can afford to lose. Currently 20 games without a win, that is a long time.

Meanwhile Shaun Pearson's Wrexham are in the National League play-off positions as things stand.

Looks like the Pools are in trouble, need to find around £200,000 in 2 weeks to avoid administration. If they don't chances are the NLN will be getting another big hitter. Seems to have all gone wrong very quickly since dropping out of the League.

If you remember they actually went up from League 2 the same year we went down.

The B-Ark / Jamie Vardy

Jamie Vardy was playing for Stocksbridge Park Steels five years ago, now he's just got an England call up.

I tried to find out whether he played against us, they were in the Unibond with us (09-10) but I can't find their XI for the fixtures.

The B-Ark / World Cup and BUFC

With Rickie Lambert on the plane to Brazil, it got me thinking whether there has ever been another player that has played in a World Cup and also been involved in a match with Boston United?

Lambert played for Brizzle Rovers when we were in League 2.

The B-Ark / Creepy Crawley

Interesting to see that Crawley were put up for sale over the weekend, seems like the not at all suspicious anonymous owners in Hong Kong have got bored and want out.

The B-Ark / Non-League Football
« on: September 26, 2012, 12:22:15 AM »
Isnt non-league football great?

The last couple of weeks have just reminded me how much better lower league football is than the Premier League.

Who wants to pay upwards of £50 to sit in a big soulless concrete bowl to watch a bunch of overpaid, uneducated  scumbags get cheered on by a bunch of pricks who think its okay to sing vile sings about people who live a few miles apart.

I was in a pub in London the other day and a bunch of West Ham fans came in singing songs about the gas chambers. Apparently it was something about Spurs fans, awful.

In non-league you can wander around grounds, drink Alcohol, chat  with the chairman and there's no racist scum shouting in your ear.

You don't get thrown out if you stand up, and there's plenty of leg room in the Fantasy Island stand if you want to sit. Okay the foods not great at most grounds but salmonella is the least of your worries if you eat something at a non-league match.

Non-league football is just better in every way.

Really entertaining game and a good performance, despite Newsh's two goals I would give MoM to Nathan Stainfield, get him signed up for next season as soon as.
