With the season only a day away, predictors are the order of the day, so:-

1. Who will with The National League North

2. Where will BUFC finish?

3. Where will BUFC get to in the FA Cup?

For me,

1. Stockport
2.9th
3. Last qualifying round

With anticipation growing ever greater for the start of the new season, I always find it quite interesting to try to predict how we will get on, then we can look back in 9 months or so and see how accurate we all were.

I propose us predicting the Champions, Play offs and where we think Boston (Pilgrims FC) will finish.

Champions - Barrow
Plays offs - Tamworth, Guiseley, Harrogate, Chorley
Boston - 12th

This is on the basis of big spending, previous good finishes and the fact that normally one of the promoted teams at least will finish in the play offs.  Whereas I have real concerns about our forward line especially Newsham's fitness, the balance of the midfield with no real replacement for Ross or Agnew (at time of writing) and have a nagging feeling that Pidge will be gone by Xmas citing the travel from Uni in Manchester as a problem a la Holsgrove (really hope that i am wrong about that).

As we are a little over 48 hours from the start of the season, i was wondering how we think we will get on this year.

For me, pre -season offers little than to get some fitness work and try out formations, set pieces etc.  Results are less important as an indicator for the season, and if you disagree with that then just ask Peter Morris or anyone who watched the 92/93 season.

I like, from afar, the look of the recruitment but have concerns that we don't have enough cover at centre half to play 3-5-2 and we do look a bit thin in numbers for the squad.  If this can be supplemented by a couple of loans where the parent club pays most of the wages then the budget should't be too affected by this.  This is a big if though.

All in all, i am thinking that we will probably finish around 9th with talk of the play offs but never realistically getting anywhere near.

Am thinking of a round trip home from Wales for Christmas via Alty tomorrow.

Is there any spaces on the BUSA bus, if running, for me to get after the game to return home that way?

Champions
Promoted
BUFC final position?

Mine are as follows:

Champions - Alty
Promoted - Halifax
BUFC finish - 9th

The B-Ark / Worcester Match Thread

So our forthcoming away adventure takes us the first of the two in the South(ish) West and thus my first away game of the season.  Terrible I know.

Weather looks good in Cardiff today so hopeful for a good game and 3 points to add to two good performances in the last couple.

Trains are a touch tight getting there but time on the way back so anyone fancy a post match pint then hunt me down at the ground or DM me on here.
