The B-Ark / Prediction League - Boston United vs Hartlepool United

Can Boston United record their first home win in the National League this season? My Computer thinks not. It's predicting a straightforward Away Win. That's not too surprising as like Boston, Hartlepool are playing better away than at home, having drawn all four home games and won two and lost just one away. I'm going for:

It's been quite a while since Boston United have made the trip down to London to play Sutton United. It was Saturday 20th October 1990 in the GM Vauxhall Conference and it ended in a 0-0 draw. This time around My Computer has this one down as a very easy Home Win. I'm going for:

Boston are on a roll! Can they keep it going? Next up are Yeovil Town. My Computer is predicting a straightforward Away Win. I'm not so sure as there's a bit of history with Yeovil Town. Back in 1955 both clubs were early adopters of floodlights, so they set up a challenge match, home and away games under floodlights for the "Yeovil Town Supporters' Club Cup". Boston won both games to pick up the trophy and they've been regularly beating Yeovil ever since! So I'm going for:

The tough games just keep on coming. York City won the playoff final against Boston United 2-0 to get promoted into this league in 2022. York have already beaten Tamworth and Rochdale who Boston United didn't beat. Not surprisingly My Computer is predicting an easy Home Win. So I'm going for:

York City 2-0 Boston United (5000)

Tamworth are having similar problems to Boston United after getting promoted, having only picked up 1 point in their first three games. My Computer is still predicting an Away Win and Tamworth did win the corresponding fixture last season in August 2-0. I fear we may see the same result again, so I'm going for:

There are four other clubs in the National Legue who have yet to record a win. Unfortunately Southend aren't one of them, although they have yet to record a win with both their games ending in draws. Not surprisingly My Computer is predicting a very easy Home Win. Can't really argue with that. I'm going for:

Boston United were in the league below last season and Forest Green Rovers were in the league above. Both sides have made significant changes to their squads over the summer, so this one is going to be difficult to predict. Records of both sides can be found here:

The season starts again next weekend so it's time to start up the Prediction League for 2024/5.

For those who haven't played before, it has been all about predicting the results and attendances of Boston United's competitive first team games throughout the season. As the season goes on you accumulate points and the winner is the person with the most points at the end of the season.

There's no entry fee as it's just a bit of fun.

All predictions must be made before kick off - although I'm open to bribes of a pint of Batemans XXXB or Dark Lord to accept predictions that are a few minutes late. 

You get 3 points for the correct score or 1 point for the correct result.

For attendance predictions it is 10 points if you get the attendance spot on or 3 points if within 5% or 1 point if within 10%.

Soon after each game I usually managed to process the scores and update the points table and post it on Patter.

You are allowed to edit your prediction right up until kickoff time.

In Cup games with extra time or penalties it's the score at the end of normal time that counts.

If a game is postponed or abandoned then all predictions for that match are null and void.

Just post your predictions in the thread on here for each match.

Here's my prediction for the first game:

Boston United 2-2 Rochdale (2450)

There's not much to base it on. With a promotion and wholesale team changes over the summer, last season's form isn't going to help much. However here's how the season ended for Boston and Rochdale.

The B-Ark / Prediction League - Brackley Town vs Boston United in the Playoffs

This one should be an easy Brackley Town win. They beat Boston home and away in the league and finished with 10 wins and 2 draws in their last 12 games including a 3-0 win over Tamworth. Brackley have also managed to lose in the playoffs five times since 2018 so they must be due a win. So I'm going for:

Brackley Town 2-0 Boston United (3000)

Another really tough Promotion Playoff game. My Computer reckons an easy Home Win. I'm going for:

It's the score at the end of normal time that is being predicted.

Another game to predict a result for. My Computer reckons a straightforward Home Win. Not surprising as Alfreton haven't lost a league game at home since November 25th 2023 against Brackley. I'm hoping for:

On paper this is the toughest game of the last four. My Computer is predicting A Draw. Brackley are the in-form side and haven't lost in their last nine league games. So a draw would be a good result. I'm going for:
