The B-Ark / Re: FA Trophy

Hilarious. I have just read a Facebook post that describes critics of the result and performance as "negative Nancy's".  Ooh Err, get you Big Boy!!! Have you seen GC's interview? There are 3/4 players  he'd like a 1 on 1 with behind the changing room doors. He's serious.

Anyone surprised? I'm not. I doubt if the current squad could spell the word "consistency", let alone provide it. That is GC's problem, not mine.

On a different subject, I subscribe to a postal program service from the club. The Ebbsfleet issue said  Ricky Miller wiould be the VIP guest. The following [Southend] issue made no reference to his attendance. Was he ill? Mind you, Dan Mooney scored for Chester the other day while still a Utd squad player!

The B-Ark / Re: Worst game you've seen

United 1 Gloucester 0 about 2011/12. Pearson scored the goal about 10 minutes from time from a corner. I barely noticed. I was in some sort of catatonic trance from the previous 80 minutes. My mate looked at me and said "I think we've scored". To which my reply was "Are you sure?".

Self-discipline prevents me from voicing my true feelings on today's result/performance. Graham Coughlan has a monumental job on his hands to save us from the drop. I don't think he has a hope in Hell, unless the squad is dismantled and rebuilt. Can that be done?

The B-Ark / Woking away..

To paraphrase the immortal Pink Floyd track, I now feel "Comfortably Numb". Woking hadn't won a game since Carol Vorderman's last appointment with a psychiatrist, but they beat us today quite comfortably. Did we have a serious shot on target? I doubt it. The simple truth is our squad is Conference North standard. I believe IC tried to upgrade the playing staff but they turned him down because the wages weren't enough. I don't envy the new manager. What can he actually do? This league is full-on carnivore and we haven't got enough meat-eaters in our ranks.

I am seriously happy. Billy is my idea of Peter Beardsley in the lower leagues. Don't be at all surprised  if he "pirates" a goal on Saturday. He's got a quicker footballing brain than defenders at this level. I don't know why York said yes to the loan and I don't care. Welcome back Billy!!!!

Fy£de are s*i*e. They lost 4-0 on Saturday and before tonight had the worst away record in the league. As for Kevin Phillips, South Shields were quite happy to wave goodbye. I repeat, over to you DN. What do you think?

Totally agree with joshB. Now for the reason. I believe there is a cadre of players in the dressing room who will be delighted to see the back of IC. Of course, they won't break cover. They will let the results do the dirty work for them. Fy£de are s*i*e but they have travelled across the country on a Wednesday night and done the buiness, even giving us a goal start. Over to you DN, what do you think?

To rub salt in the wound, we would not have to play Gateshead away in the next round.

Today I've viewed a few You Tube clips of the Cup- tie at Gainsborough. I think we have a problem. When we score the injury time equaliser, 2 or 3 players congratulate the scorer. The rest just walk in the oppisite direction. They are not interested. Happy dressing room? I don't think so.
If we beat Trinity in the replay, we will play Gateshead. Ouch.

Definite set-back today. We've now lost 5 out of 7 home games. I really thought we could win today. I think the last few games, in  different ways, have been encouraging, but this is a big step back. I said at the start of the season that if we finished outside the bottom 4 it would be a successful season. I now think it is the only aim we can have. I must keep the faith but now it means circling the wagons and fighting for survival.

Disappointing result but not that surprising. This league is a beast with teeth now and we will have to scrap for any point we can get. If we can avoid finishing in the bottom four next May, I would call that a successful season. The pundits would possibly call it "consiladation". I realise this is a real challenge, but I think most footballers would relish that challenge. Anyway, as long as the players try their best, the team will have my unconditional support.

I won't lie, I didn't think we had a chance of winning the play-offs. Alfreton, Scunthorpe and Brackley away? I saw Brackley beat us a month ago and they barely broke sweat. I am very happy for DN, who has never lost faith. I have no idea what IC has planned for the close season, but I think our promotion will help him get what he wants. Personally, I will be happy with any position next season outside the bottom four.

Well done lads.

The B-Ark / Brackley
« on: April 06, 2024, 10:09:23 PM »
Where do I start? We never looked like winning, I was surprised when we scored, it was our only shot on target. Brackley bossed us all afternoon. The midfield were static and devoid of creativity. Crab football was the dish of the day. I half expected Butch Wilkins to come off the bench in a Boston shirt.
The wind made life difficult but that was the same for both sides.Great to see Hazell back but he is obviously not match-fit.
Two things to say about the match overall. The standard of the match officials was appalling. The linesman on the East Stand side was totally incompetant, and that's being generous. Brackley were also guilty of some pathetic gamesmanship. If only Ellender/Greaves were on  the pitch the Brackley players would not be simulating injury. they would actually be carried off with various limb
 malfunctions!

The B-Ark / Re: Rushall Olympic
« on: April 01, 2024, 08:25:18 PM »
I was a bit worried when I looked at the table this morning and saw that Rushall needed a win to get out of the relegation zone. I suspect they threw the kitchen sink at United and got the 3 points. Fair play to them. It's history now and it's Brackley on Saturday. I've bribed my brother-in-law to be my driver to the game so fingers crossed!
