The B-Ark / Re: Curzon

I was there today and thought we were very poor indeed. The defence was at fault for the goals and we were either shot shy or off target when given the chance. Curzon made it look easy and after goal 3 just sat back and watched Boston huff and puff. Very disappointing but I at least only had a 2 mile trip home. I felt sorry for everyone who came up from Lincolnshire and had nothing to get excited about all game bar the last 10 minutes when Curzon had already eased up long before.

I'm afraid it is nonsense to suggest the game is moved to a bigger capacity ground. York finished above us in the league so they get home advantage. We all know the rules. Boston's capacity is much smaller than York's so we would have had the same problems and possibly more if the game was held there.Would you want us to give up home advantage if we had it just so more York fans could go? Of course not! I get so fed up with people on here slagging off other teams for no reason other than that they are not Boston United.

Hi , hope you don't mind me pointing out it is just Histon FC , we are a village , not a town. Also due to having to move to the NPL  from the  Isthmian League , most of our players up and left as they were based towards London so we have almost a whole new team of inexperienced players and scholars moving up to the men's game. Everyone is beating us by 4 or 5 goals at the moment sadly !!!!

The attempts on here to sum up another clubs finances with a couple of multiplications when you have no clue what's going on are laughable.

Living on Curzon's doorstep I can tell you , their attendances haven't fallen off a cliff , it's simply that they have little support , perhaps 200 at best if they are lucky. They give away  alot of tickets for free which may or may not get used and accounts for some of the odd increases in their attendances. The main  reason for their big attendances is down to away support , I have been squashed in the main stand with 200 home supporters , surrounded by 1300 Stockport or 2500 FCUM supporters on several occasions. They are well used to more away support than home support so a couple of hundred from Boston won't phase them at all.

Several clubs have the problem of people buying online child tickets for adults and it can cost them alot of money. Not sure why people think this is funny ,they certainly wouldn't if they found them selves next to someone who had paid alot less to get in by cheating the system, and it may well happen to Boston at the new ground. Won't seem so funny then when the club loses more over a season than has been collected in the jam jar coin project.
As for Spennymoor , just give it a rest , all clubs have these issues at times.

It's so childish on here , people trying to appear so polite but determined to trash what someone else has said and have the last say as if it makes their point more valid.

The wrong person was sacked. The whole thing was a disgrace.

They are not deliberately cancelling Saturday fixtures so they can be played on Tuesday nights. Many people on here point out how much revenue Boston lose when a home game gets moved to a Tuesday and it's the same for Spennymoor. There is no conspiracy . They are just another non-league side trying to do the best they can with what they have got , sometimes they get it right and sometimes they get it wrong. They are not trying to cheat and people should remember our own history of poor behaviour. I know they annoyed us by cancelling a Saturday fixture a couple of seasons ago with bus issues but it's time to let it go and move on.

Well they are laying a new pitch and drainage so hopefully and end to their problems after this is done.
We may well be in a similar situation this time next season  , who knows whats going to happen , so I think we need to show a little understanding. They have done well to raise the money to do this as it isn't cheap , and fundraising takes time as we all know.

« on: March 06, 2019, 03:14:18 PM »
Boston's average gate this season is 1107 with 4 home games to go. Last season it was 1053 overall so currently attendances are slightly up though will probably end up about the same.
This time last year we played Harrogate in an evening game with an attendance of 875 , and the year before that , Chorley , in front of 807.
I'm sure we also had a gate of less than 600 for one midweek League game in recent years though I can't remember which one.
There are no missing fans this season. This is what we get as a mid table team in this League.
As with every team , if we were at the top of the table we would get alot more but there is no decline year on year based on our League position in mid table.
As with every season , as it drifts to a close with nothing much to play for , gates dip.

I think some  people need to stop obsessing about postponed games at Spennymoor. They have a problem with the pitch , the referee makes the decisions about whether or not its fit to play on. There is no conspiracy.

3 - 0 now. What a shame for the fans that have made a big effort to go today.

I have been in Ashton today , cold but perfectly fine , I have also been near to the start of Woodhead (from the north end) , and there are no problems there either and no motorway signs warning of closures , as there would be. Junction 22 , 20 and 18 off the M62 will all get you to Ashton (eventually) if you come that way. J18 is probably the easiest route (head for J23 of M60) as its all motorway off it.

I do think its an unnecessary insult to call Ashton United a dismal soulless dump. I support Boston but live near Ashton so have seen quite a few games there as a neutral. Last season they had crowds a little over 100 sometimes yet created what atmosphere they could and somehow managed to get promoted to the National North. Yes the stadium is not the best but so what ? At least it has a bit of character and the natives are friendly. Many times I've been stood on the Spayne Road terraces listening to the vitriol and abuse spouted by so called Boston fans who quite frankly are an embarrassment both home and away. The fact that small clubs like Ashton Utd have made it this far should be applauded , not ridiculed for a lack of new facilities and fans.
