Unlucky yesterday it's never nice to fall at such a late hurdle.

Yes on the day he maybe was weak but you had the chance to see the game out in normal time and in penalties and failed on both occasions.

Enjoy the summer and we shall see you all at the Northolme next season, become a bit more welcoming of away fans and you may see more than 26 make the opposite journey.

It's true we did have ourselves to blame for sitting off and trying to hold on.  I was merely making the point that it happens so often in the big games in this league that officials are weak ( and this crew were), you'd think the FA would address the issue in the play offs at least with an officiating team from an higher level.  As for you lot bringing more than 26 it would be nice I guess you count yourself lucky to be in the league so I doubt you'd manage to double it.

Correct we do think ourselves lucky to still be in this league but with a lot of hard work by volunteers bind the scenes we are.

As for bringing more than 26 to your place it will not happen whilst you continue to employ nazi stewards who continuously suppress away fans' ability to support their team. In my own personal experience I have seen fans told they can't hang flags because they cover advertising boards and on other occasions I have been hit by objects thrown by home fans and when any mention is made stewards have threaghtened with eviction from the ground. Excuse me for not wanting to pay to be subjected to such nazi operations.

Yes I know you had fans attacked at our place and that has now resulted in segregation being put in place to try to stop it. Things will never be perfect that's football.

Hopefully when you move to your new home you will employ new stewards. Start by shaving the nazi rash from the payroll

Unlucky yesterday it's never nice to fall at such a late hurdle.

Blaming the referee is however a little shallow. Yes on the day he maybe was weak but you had the chance to see the game out in normal time and in penalties and failed on both occasions.

I would also hazard a guess that on more than one occasion you have had a few decisions go your way which aided your final league position. The extra 2 points the ref won for you against Trinity at York street a starter for you to ponder.

Enjoy the summer and we shall see you all at the Northolme next season, become a bit more welcoming of away fans and you may see more than 26 make the opposite journey.

I'm surprised Steelihat hasn't had a bite at this topic yet! :)

I would but I don't want to carp on about it. ;)
Good man! You have seen the light and transferred to a decent forum!
How do you see your cahnces on Sat?
CAHNCES! I know what your trying to say :)
On form you must start as favourites but being Blue my forecast is a 1-2 away win!

I agree Stevie I think all the pressur ein this game is on Boston.

Whilst Trinity are in a relegation fight we have games against other clubs in and around us and we should look to get points out of them. We are also not expected to get anything from this game based on recent results and the history of games between the two clubs.

Boston on the other hand are fighting for a play off spot and need to take points against the teams at the bottom to keep the push going. Something which on many occasions has been the undoing of a lot of clubs.

If the new stadium is to be owned by the community how is the community defined?
Will the football club have it's own clubhouse ther?
Will they have full tenancy or will they just rent the ground on match days?
Who will contract the refreshment areas?
Who gets the money from them?

I see the benefit of community owned grounds but the tenancy agreement could be crippling even if the rent is just a peppercorn one. I believe Halifax were in the same position only getting a cut of gate receipts and refreshment takings but paying a low rent

I dont think anyone is expecting any abuse from the Boston fans.

The only abuse I have seen is from mindless idiots who have no interest in football or the matter of homosexuals in the game and the impact coming out may have.

I expect he will be left allone  most places he goes, however there are always places like Altrincham who have mindless idiots intent on stirring things up.

Give up is the only advice I'd give them
That's novel...go and stand in the corner.

Another novel idea go on your own forum and stop boring us

Sorry, who started this thread?

Oh yes a Boston Supporter.

He comes here because their forum is about as busy as The Northolme on a typical Saturday when Grimity are at home.

Tumbleweed and ghost towns spring to mind.

The fact he has started this thread indicates that this forum needed some life injected into it.

Is there a limit to the period of time for which the club that the player is leaving is entitled to compensation?

Eg. because Gainsborough have offered Wilde the same terms, if no club was prepared to pay the compensation for the player, is the player therefore prevented from joining another (semi-)professional club indefinitely?

If there is a time limit then presumably a club in Gainsborough's situation would be compelled to accept compensation, even if they felt it was too low, as opposed to demanding more, diffusing any interest and eventually not receiving anything? But such a time limit would make the whole rule pretty useless as any club in their right mind would just wait for the time limit to expire.

The registration is eld until 31 August. He cannot sign as a free agent until jan 1st

We have also re-engaged our 3 u24's, Luke waterfall, josh Wilde and terry hawkridge. Should they decline the terms any club they join will have to pay a fee.

To be honest I think with Peters health issues the best way forward now would be for him to buy and renovate the Northolme.

I think the council were using regulations to try and force swanny to pay for things they didnt have the funding for, things that should have been done years ago.

think it all went tits up, dont know why

As with all "good" local councils they were putting obstacles in the way. Everytime Peter found an answer to one they found something else they wanted him to pay for. In the end his health deteriated and he was unwilling to keep fighting the council.

He now wants to buy the northolme and has promised to invest 1million on redevelopment. He has also stated he is willing to sign any clause preventing him from selling the round from under the football clubs feet.

Bostonshire,

You mistake the supporters club with a supporters trust.

The supporters club was originally set up to raise money for the football club at a time when the football club were struggling financially. It was agreed at a later date that the supporters club should buy the ground as they were in a better long term position.

They are merely a members club and as with many of that ilk are currently struggling to turn a profit in the current climate. They are also not in a position to support the club financially. All money made by the supporters club on matchdays goes directly into paying their running costs and not those of the football club. This is why Peter Swann is trying to buy the ground for the football club.

There is no mandate in the supporters club that states they must pay x% of profit to the football club or even one that states they need to support the football club in any way.

Its what is known as a f***ing mess.

Agreed defining bigger and better is difficult.

I cant be based on past achievement alone as that would give reason to suggestion that sheffield wednesdays 4 league titles makes them bigger than man city with 2 or Nottingham Forests 2 Euro champions cups making them bigger than all English clubs bar Liverpool and Man Utd and we all know that not to be true.

Average attendance could also be a key factor but that is also attributed to past glories dependant on how recent. It is also dependant on local population and proximity of other football clubs further up the league pyramid.

Personally I would put it down to 2 things:
1. the ability to draw investment from outside of the club in the form of sponsorship etc
2. recent results taking into account standard of opposition.

I would say Boston are definately attracting more investment from outside of the club. This is helped by having Craig working full time heightening the profile of the club. This is something Trinity could learn, and are learningfrom.

Recent results if we are brutally honest have to favour Trinity. It has been nearly 6 seasons since Boston were relegated form the football league and kicked out of the conference. They did well to return as quickly as they did but since then they have stalled. Trinity have however, using the money ploughed in by their chairman, finally built a team who are pushing for the play offs for a 2nd successive season and narrowly missed out on a trophy final place.

I would conclude therefore that in terms of current stature outside of the immediate locality of either club, that Gainsborough and Boston are currently seen as on a par by those who keep an eye on the non league game. You may agree you may disagree but that is me trying to look at things objectively rose tinted glasses removed.

With regards to your comments about grounds Boston currently pay a huge sum for use of York Street and this is preventing them from moving forward. That situation will no doubt ease with the building of a new ground but that in itself will bring about other debts. Trinity are in a difficult situation. The ground is owned by the supporters club and as such pay only a small amount in rent by comparison (10k as opposed to your 70k). We are however not receiving any revenue from match day refreshment. The snack bar profits and those from the bar go into the supporters club coffers and not those of the club. This is the main reson for Peter Swann wanting to buy the ground, so the club can generate the additional revenue for themselves.

Sorry to have to say this but I find myself agreeing with Stanrats 10.33 post, well almost all of it. Smaller ground outside of town - yes. Financial side - yes. Performance of current manager - yes. Smaller attendances due to current performances -yes.
He failed to mention being unable to keep key players for whatever reasons.
As for the big club attitude, nothing wrong with that, but I fear that may alter with a change of location in time.
We do have a great stadium at this level which encourages the big club attitude but unfortunately the supporter is not being rewarded by the manager or players hes bringing in.
We cannot however criticise Mr Newton whatever he achieves for the club because without his intervention most of us would be travelling North or South 15 miles to see football, or even down Tattershall Road.
I hope for better.

At least you have the ability to view the bigger picture and accept that the future of your club will probably be alot different.
