The B-Ark / Re: What games are you most looking forward to?
« on: May 22, 2011, 09:20:11 PM »
Huddersfield Away,Hull City away........

Both opponents in the last 10 years.

Seriously, how can anyone get excited about any team or game at this level?

I enjoy following Utd, its a big part of me and my identity but to say I look forward to playing anyone at this level is not an option, crikey, I even sometimes have to ask Brother W if we are at home or away at the weekend, thats how low down the list of my priorities Utd are now.

And before anyone gets on the 'not a real fan' soapbox I renewed my season ticket last Saturday before they went on official sale. A home game now means a lot of favours being called in on the childcare front.

Bob,

just thinking about Posh legends with a BUFC connection, do you see or hear anything of Trevor Quow these days?

I remember him being treated despicably by the McFraud's and being on the end of some awful smears, no doubt from the same fetid quaters towards the end of his time here but I didn't hear a lot about him after he left.

And we could only dream of getting a 5000+ gate so overall the biggest and best club all round went up.
Football is played on the pitch, not in the stands. Alfreton won the league, but didn't have the biggest attendances...

No but they had the biggest wallet, and money talks now.

Anyway, to lighten the mood I notice Walshaw was booked for diving today......!!! :D :D

I think Ed sponsored (or provided) the MotM champers a few times last season and not un naturally want to know who got it.

Give Craig a ring Monday Ed, he's a very accessible guy.

I hate the play offs, at least justice was done with the 2nd place side going up.

Interesting to see Guiesley got a penalty today too, how many did they get this term?

any body see the Alan Sugar thing about football clubs?

Very worrying to hear some of the attitudes of people involved in the premier league football.
It ennoys me immensely to think of the amount of debts these big clubs accumulate and yet aren't accountable to anyone, even the taxman. On the other hand look at non league clubs such as Ilkeston, and other smaller clubs being punished for much smaller debts. I would love to see these bigger teams punished for their financial conduct.
I realise it would be more realistic for myself to be prosecuted for owing Inland Revenue a £1 rather than anyone challenge these big clubs arrogance and irresponsible behavior, amassing rediculous levels of debt. Since when has it been acceptable to run a buisness and not pay your bills. If it was you or I running that businesss, we'd have the book thrown at us and disqualified from running a business. Unfortunately we live in a world full of double standards. The wealthy people running these massive football clubs can seemingly delay paying their debt and do so when they please.

With Dave and Neil, we're in capable hands. And aren't we lucky to have them on board !

Funny you mention the Tax man and his pursuit of the little man while letting the big boys get away with millions in unpaid debt......

I had all of Lisa's affairs in order.......except for the Tax.........well before Xmas. And I'd have had that tidied up too if they'd fed me the right information. Anyway, after about 10 phone calls, God knows how many letters and a visit to the Tax Office in town they gave me her final tax bill.

80p

And would I like to pay it in installments?

Oh and a £100 late payment penalty for doing exactly as they told me!!!!

Project continuous improvement with the aim to better ourselves on and off the pitch and rebuild for future generations to enjoy.

Not very catchy or likely to get you on the back pages though is it.

No, but very likely to keep the football club alive, and thats what its all about.

Tommy was the right man at the right time.

However, he shouldn't have started the next season here, his sides were making the same mistakes every week and yet he didn't seem to know what to do.

Probably Dave's only mistake in his time here was not changing managers at the end of the 1st season, but its not an issue now.

No surprise there really he had a crap job to do and failed. The blades are in a mess, they could go either way, down or down.
They've never done any good since Neil Warnock left

Couldnt agree more Sheff Utd = Everything thats wrong about football rumour has it they will be the next team to face going bust after having players on high wages i fancy league 2 for them the season after next

and after all that is said I'll still bet anything they finish higher than the laughing stock the other side of the city.......Sheffield 'we're a big club, honest we are' Wednesday.

Sheff Utd are the classic case of selling the family silver and then replacing it with 3rd rate players and loanees.......it was a recipe for relegation. Unlike the laughable recruitment policy employed at The Piggery in their Premiership days, Benito Carbone on £40,000 a week when that was the top end of the wage scale, pigs who live in glasshouses really shouldn't throw stones..........
