Title: Gloucester City
Post by: wismo on May 02, 2022, 05:09:48 PM
Didn’t look like getting the second goal, their equaliser always coming. Now have to win at Farsley and hope Kettering draw or lose. Not good

Dreadful result....

This one hurts.  :(
Throwing away a playoff spot against lower table teams would leave many regrets...

We didn’t create anything, passing was sloppy, we looked slow and their goal was inevitable. Interesting what Paul Cox says about the game but anything other than disappointing and not acceptable would be laughable. Gauling that it is Kettering who have advantage over us.

Our season  all over. Raised expectation but disappointing outcome. Not good enough

I will be there next week more in hope than any expectation. Todays performance was unacceptable but so have many more this season. The manager will need nothing more than a fag packet to write his retained list and a couple of them are loan players. UTP

Or win by 2 goals more than Kettering do.

Just can't see that happening. :(

With you Mel...I'll be there too next Saturday (unless get Covid from the oh so crowded Ellenders with that massive crowd, 400 of whom won't be back for extra helpings of that football feast). This was woeful, embarrassing and thoroughly complacent. Miracles do happen but rarely for us. Despite my affection for some stellar individuals several of whom are on crutches at present, and some who are on loan, my retained list of permanents is very small. Feel so sorry for the Chairman and even for Paul Cox.

Fair play to Gloucester they played decent football their number 14 was absolute quality bossed the game and no one put a challenge on him.  Just leaving the lounge and Paul was coming up and I asked him why do you sit back after scoring one he made it quite clear he didn’t want that.  He was honest and direct and approachable so my opinion has changed.  One game I’ll be there this could be our carlshalton next week.

As sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, I'll be there next Saturday. Even if we get into the playoffs I don't think we're good enough to make an impact on them so let's just enjoy the ride! See what next Saturday brings.

That would've been an absolute travesty had we lost that. That's three games we've scored in injury time now though, you should've known it was coming.

Stadium's lovely.

I also a very quick word with Paul and he was distraught not a good time for a conversation, so I just said we will be there next week and will still be singing so keep your chin up mate. He replied I know you wiil can,t believe it. Do I think he is the man for the job? yes I do it's the squad he inherited who have let him and us down, plus horrible injury list.

Gloucester's play merited a point - but did we have to hand them it on a plate?

Am I right in thinking if we end up on the same points as Kettering but with 2 more goals to the good we would go up as we have scored more goals

Here are the rules!

12.2.1 Goal difference – If any two or more Clubs have scored the same number of points their position in the division shall be determined on goal difference, that is to say, the difference between the total number of goals scored by and against a Club in League Matches in that Season, and the higher or highest placed Club shall be the Club with the higher or highest goal difference.

12.2.2 In the event of the goal difference being equal the highest placed Club shall be the Club which has scored the most goals;

12.2.3 In the event that two or more Clubs have the same goal difference and have scored the same number of goals then the highest placed Club shall be the Club which has won the most matches.

12.2.4 In the event of the two Clubs still being equal the Club which has the better playing record against the other Club in their head to head Competition matches during the Season will be the highest placed Club.

12.2.5 If the records of two or more Clubs are still equal and it is necessary for any reason to determine the position of each then the Clubs concerned shall play off a deciding match or matches on a neutral ground or grounds with the net gate money after deducting the usual matches expenses being divided equally between the two competing Clubs.

Another season looms where BUFC will be playing regional non-league football. Unthinkable. Wish it could be Hayes 2002 all over again!

Bodge, Surely you didn`t mean to say "go up"". Even if we do the impossible and do better than Kettering, we have only qualified for the play-offs. We certainly do not go up.

It's just a case of bettering Kettering's result for the right to go to Kidderminster a week tonight and get absolutely mauled!

I know it was to get in the playoffs, my predictions

Farsley  1 - 5 Boston
Kidderminster 0 - 2 Boston
Brackley 0 - 1 Boston
Fylde 0 - 0 Boston- Boston win 9 - 8 on penalties

I’ve turned over a new leaf. From being the eternal pessimist which has served me well through the last  10 years or so to someone who dares to dream.

As my mate says, it’s the hope that kills you. If that’s true I might not be about much longer.
