Not happy with that. Long journey to South London but we'll give it a go I'm sure

Got to back the boys to get at least a draw there, then replay here for a long journey in midweek.

Also not that many clear TV ties to choose from there.

About 6th in their league. I believe they have artificial surface. Ground not spectacular but could affect our standard of play. They will will give it 100% and so we need to as well. Another away tie, I thought I saw the woman pull our ball out of her pocket. Conspiracy theory again.

Did we not play them in the 70s or 80s. I'm sure I  went there. Tried looking on Ken's site but can't find it.

They have a 3G pitch so no worrying over a waterlogged surface.

The Carshalton representative looked distinctly underwhelmed with the mighty Boston Utd .
A lip reader might have interpreted his exclamation as "shit"!

A very winnable tie, or a potential banana skin. Looking on their website and they look a big physical side. But we now have the chance, and a good one at that, to put more money in the pot and progress.  :) Believe !

Our lads from Harrogate are used to artificial surface and we also train on one so shouldn't present a big problem.

Good tie, one we have a massive chance of winning.
They didn't seem to have many home fans on their highlights, so this is a massive chance to go there and take over the ground with our fans.

My mate tells me I've gone daft in my old age.  He says we did indeed draw them in the fa cup, but we failed to win the replay in the previous round.

It's Carshalton Athletic. There's also a Carshalton FC, but they play in a park.

Don't go to the wrong ground!

Should've gone to Specsavers (other companies are available!) the woman was pulling out the Home teams. ;)

Just spoken to a customer from down that neck of the woods.

He says anyone looking for trouble will get it there, its not a very nice part of London. They are not a big club but they'll expect to pull a few local idiots in from the area rather like Peterborough Sports do.

So to any wannabe hooligans jumping on the club bandwagon like they tend to do every few years, be warned, if you go round giving it the Billy Big Bollocks in designer gear and want to get all Green St trust me, you'll find the locals won't tolerate it.

Those who want to go and enjoy the game will be fine, that applies to about 99% of us.

I was down that way for a wedding last weekend and can confirm it's a pretty horrible part of the world. Locals appear to be very unpleasant people. It's weird - you can kinda sense it getting off the train.

Carshalton fan here in peace :-)).....if you find a more welcoming club this season i would be surprised. The Robins strictly enforce the Respect programme run by the FA which gives the opportunity for young people to visit matches without hearing swearing and the nasty side of the game which no supporter wants to hear.......i cannot remember the last time we had crowd trouble @ our ground and if such trouble did occur i would be confident that it would not be initiated by the regular 500 that turn up for home games. With regards to the match if it was at your place then imo its a 80/20 in your favour but as you are aware this truly is a 50/50 game now so may the best team on the day win and i hope any of you travelling down will witness a fab game.

Is your chairman doing to ban himself after being caught swearing on live telly then?

In all seriousness, I hope it's a great game too. I think the caution stems from the fact we've had some pretty unpleasant experiences at FA Cup games when "non-regular" supporters have shown up. AFC Mansfield springs to mind.

But fingers crossed it all passes off peacefully. I'd take a draw and a replay at home to be honest - will certainly be a tough game.

Later that day (2.15pm), Hayes & Yeading face Oxford United at home. The BT Sport cameras will be at Beaconsfield Road.

Are the BBC doing their Sunday programme again this season where they have studio-based 'as it happens' coverage of several games and frequently go over live to the grounds for updates?

If so, might our game be one of those selected for this?

So it seems not.

Our game will be on Saturday 9 November at 3.00p.m. as it is not one of the 13 ties selected for TV coverage of one kind or another.

Really looking forward to this quite a few people I speak to seem to be going. Nine of us going for a day out. I’m told two BUSA buses and Mick Small one and half so far be good for the club to go into overdrive in the local press to get a few more there. I’d imagine we will have around four hundred to create a great atmosphere

In answer to your question there is a fair sized car park at the ground but with a crowd expected to be possibly double what we normally average say 800/900 turning up latecomers may have to park in the residential areas surrounding the ground.....if you are there pretty early i don't see no problems whereas if you turn up at 2:45 i can

If almost 200 are currently on buses, maybe another coach to come, I'd be quite disappointed with sub 500 Boston
Biggest cup game for years. Lots of people who never usually go are going

The weather forecast is light rain from 1pm and throughout the match so the pitch could be a bit  zippy!  We need to get the footwear right.

Plenty
1 end open with only a tiny bit of cover
Side terrace covered, quite large
1 end covered. It's aboht 3 or 4 steps deep
And a covered stand which runs a third of the length

Really good performance today. Controlled first half and under the pump a bit second but good subs to bring Rollins on to test them with his pace.

Their fans came out and commented to me how we were 10 times better than Dagenham and that Shiels and Thewlis were class (I thought Thewlis was relatively quiet for him!).

Good set up for that level too.

But last word goes to us as fans. Great turnout. Agree that if there was 1800 there then must be at least 1000 of us as only heard them when they scored. Players and management acknowledged it too and felt like we were there as one.

In the hat on Monday night - Chichester at home for me then if we get through a day out (and pay day) at Man U/Spurs/Liverpool would do me!

Absolutely right Dave. Just consider this though, If Carshalton had won the £36000 plus what they had already earned would have given them around £70000 plus, that would have set them up for years to come. As it is it is us that have won that amount so it will just about cover this seasons rent. So yes we should be applauding David and Neil and thanking them for our very existence and enabling us to enjoy some fantastic moments.  UTP

Mel bang on. Just got home after an amazing day out with mates and seeing so many die hard fans their must have been more away support than I have seen for many years. Credit to Carlshalton and stewards bar staff etc and their fans quality for a community club but today was the reward for a top chairman and manager for the long game. Look at Craig’s video he is so chuffed and so he and the players should be as the the support to day was nothing but class from the beginning to the end. Lot of pride tonight.  But  always say it the neg heads never post when we do well. Shame on you   As today even the home fans were recording the amazing support as they have never seen anything like it.  Last word to the Hope Pub thank you for hospitality quality.

Great result ,  not often I can relate to the tension and excitement of games by listening to the radio ,  but yesterday Mark Hone and Dale Storey on BBC Lincs did a great job really felt the atmosphere in my armchair at Boston .      Too much negativity as well Mel ,  Lets get a good draw on Monday and me can think of the "big boys " at YS for a great finale .

Your Carshallton  cash flow projection was slightly overstated Mel,   70K even at most clubs at  our level would hardly pay the wages and day to day running costs for a couple of months .  which puts into prospective the huge financial contribution of Chestnuts .

Just to echo what others have said, the Hope was great so thanks for the tip Barbary. The Carshalton fans were friendly, we were at the end we were attacking in the first half with home fans mainly standing around us and we didn't get any grief at all when we celebrated. And not only did 4-1 flatter us, I'm not sure 3-1 wouldn't have done!

Good luck to Carshalton for the rest of the season...
