Title: York [Away]
Post by: brummie exile 1960 on March 16, 2019, 08:32:55 PM
I am going to York City [A]. I am making a week-end of it with 'er indoors['er outdoors on this occasion]. My associate joshb and his pals warned me at Kiddy that the amenities at the Away end were bad. Therefore I will park our collective posteriors in the main stand.   If said associates are in the Club bar before the game, I will readily buy them a beer. If we don't win at York, I think the play-offs are out of reach.

Away terrace is uncovered but they do let you go down the side to the left of it. Opposite the main stand

We're making a weekend of it too, had it booked a while.

Sadly our clueless management and spineless players have ensured that the football will get in the way of, rather than compliment the weekend.

On a separate issue, anyone (Ken) know of any Parkruns in York on Saturday morning?

Clueless management is a bit harsh imo. They're learning.

After Murray, Greene, Drury, Jason Lee, et al (who many also disliked) then who would the Messiah be? And could this person make such improvements on the same budget or would loads of cash need to be spent?

CE knows the recruitment was poor in the summer but I think he'll do better next season and he doesn't need his nose rubbing in it 😃

A quick Google check shows a York ParkRun.

A nice place though to spend the weekend.
I hope those who are going have a nice time.

Looking forward to the trip, it will probably be our last visit to Bootham Crescent with their brand new ground on its way.

Sounded like a great second half comeback, don’t think you could accuse us of being bottlers today. Bet this board is quite tonight 🤪

Brilliant point could have been 3 if Willis had done better on the 2nd goal according to radio York.

Very good result and comeback, a great reaction after last week.
Great to see the two winger's getting the goals.
Also a great reaction from Craig, perhaps we will see more of the talent that's normally sat on the bench at the start of the game.

It should be busy with praise.
I wonder if they will be calling for Craig's head this week??

A great come back considering it was away to York City, well done lads!  8)
Sounds like Cresswell hasn't had many starts this season so he did well to last for the 70 minutes  8)

A pretty poor first half IMO when we really missed Allot's presence up front and had no alternative target man, and in general we lacked bite. George might well have done better with the second free kick and not let it come loose but our defenders were sluggish, did not cover adeqautely, respond quickly enough to the loose ball and allowed York to finish the job. Very much the same in second half until Clare came on and provided some instant presence up front and someone to play off. Result: and almost instant goal. Wright's equaliser was sublime. After that either side could have nicked it. Cresswell??? Hmmm. Seemed slow in reactions and physical movements. Not an improvemement, but maybe lacking match fitness. Looked chin-strapped when CE took him off after he'd been 'done' by their left winger twice in quick succession.George Smith impressed again.

Came away from the game in good spirits after feeling we were going to get stuffed in the second half. As I always say if the lads give everything then I can take any result and they did just that in the second half. I will give Cresswell a few games before making a judgement he clearly needs game time and to be honest as my mate said Jackson would have really struggled to cope with Parkin in that first half. Thought the ref did neither team or the game any favours blowing and booking for every little thing. The goal by young Max was worth the entrance money alone and although the figure of 250 was given for the Boston fans trust me there was at least 300 which is unbelievable with all the negativity being bandied about by none attenders.  UTP

Cresswell and Parkin are best mates, having played together before (they were away-trip roommates).

260 away fans that 25% of the home gate. I know a few who went for the weekend in York. Shame this town can't attract a few more away fans.

Plenty to see this afternoon down main ridge, 3 police cars, police van, must of seen a another 6 or 7 on the beat around the area and a couple of armed police to round it off

Fantastic away support, all credit to them.
Not many clubs in this league get that sort of away support.

"Shame this Town can't attract a few more away fans" ? It's home fans we need to get in why don't you lead the return instead of just making ridiculous comments on websites about games you don't attend?.

There seems to be a few holier than thou contributors on this forum at present and they will not allow realistic views or comments to differ from their own blinkered views.
I will no longer contribute to this site and with more than 60 years of following this team am seriously contemplating giving up going to matchless I question our real intent going forward.

Holbeach. With respect, quit the site - no one will really be bothered. Nothing is ever really achieved by resigning from forums.

Thought we played ok today in the second half.  We did pretty well to get two goals considering we were missing Allott and Wright. Cresswell looked reasonably assured  and should improve with fitness, having only played one lot of 90 minutes in 12 months.

Good turn out from the Boston fans today. Twice as many as I  thought would go.

We can try and "lead the return" as much as you like but don't kid yourself Oxo the actions of the Chairman and Management have total influence over attendance. But then as a non attendee I should probably just keep my opinions to myself as my lifelong support obviously counts for nothing in your book. Who the hell would bother with BUSA with those opinions flying around 😠

And what if someone just happens to agree with KON? Are we excluded from debate. What's the obsession with knowing who people are? I currently disagree with Theresa May on many levels and she does not have the slightest interest into who I am😂 Just can't help thinking that the only opinions that count on here are those of BUSA members or the legendary football tacticians who frequent the T*#*end. Lifelong support and I'm now seriously asking myself "what's the point?"

45 minutes of good football is an irrelevance given the position we find ourselves in relative to what was promised. I do believe higher expectations were alluded to even though they may have been tacit in nature.

Just got back from long weekend in York. The game itself was like the old saying, "a game of two halves, Brian". We were poor 1st half. So were York. We started 4-5-1 at first, with Rollins up front. It didn't work. We didn't manage 1 shot on target. They scored 2 goals from free kicks. The 1st was a belter but Willis was at fault for the 2nd.

The 2nd half was, as Monty Python remarked, "something completely different". Walker was pushed forward to help Jay and Wright was playing as a winger, not a wing-back. We started to look as if we might actually score. And so we did, Walker did well to set up Jay and then an absolute peach from Wright.

We rode our luck a little in the last 10 minutes but got the draw we deserved. We didn't deserve to win because the 1st half was worse than at Chester. I then proceeded to get happily plastered at the White Bear at Stillington{cottage behind the pub}. Excellent food and beer, thoroughly recommended.

Definitely deserved a draw in the end, was very disappointed with the first half and thought a drubbing was on the cards. Lets hope we can use this good point and kick on for the final run in
