Title: The Quadrant for sale.
Post by: qwerty on October 04, 2016, 07:58:45 PM
Looks like the proposed development is still a little short of investment.

I would imagine with brexit there'll be a decline in demand for housing, and house prices will go down.

How do you arrive at  "a little short of investment"?

Are you expecting the Chestnuts to build everything?  Is it not common practise for a large new development to be divided up between several house builders and potential self build plots?

At least the development is described as being on the southern edge of Boston.......that might make somebody happy :-)

Because it's still for sale.

Why???
Was all house building for foreign nationals?
By the same token were they driving house prices up??

There will be little deportation, so unless Britons are fleeing their own country in their droves why will there be a decline in demand?

Err, weren't the Chestnuts always very clear that they would not be owning, building and operating all of the parts of the Quadrant themselves?

Looks like they're getting on with the process of selling on various sites where appropriate. Reassuring progress, so far as I can see.

Can,t see housing plots for sale in the advert ,  am I missing something ?

Plots advertised are for commercial development .

The brochure... there is a section on commercial plots.

Could it be that the land would originally have been up for (long-term) leasing, but due to the loss of grant money it has been decided to cash in on the land by selling it?

I was thinking simply in terms of supply and demand, since 2001 population has increased at a much faster rate then house building, and to stop/slow increase in population while building extra housing stock in simple terms would lower demand/prices.

Although as alot of immigrants were/are often housed 4 to a room, 10+ to a house they possibly wouldnt have had a significent effect on house prices.  After looking at the size of the quadrant (Q1 i so only approx 1%?) of current housing stock, i would conclude its probably of little significance in reality. No need to worry :)

Houses that are desperately needed, and yet the number of people squealing about the development was extraordinary. Where did they think the houses were going to be built? The North Sea?

The problem Pete was they were to be built close to their own houses.
If the Quadrant was the other side of town they wouldn't have said anything,
nimbyism at it's best.

The road was open again tonight so it must be Houses in Motion  ;)
Allegedly she's suffering from a bout of tinnitus so has to cut down on the whistling  :police:
