The players perhaps thought they would coast it - as they were playing a team in a lower league.  Maybe why they struggled in the last round.  In Dennis' interview last night he gave the impression that although it would be a difficult match but Boston would win.

Been home a bit...simple thoughts are
In no particular order..
Kettering looked a decent side
We didn't
Ref wasn't very good
Losing Maguire so early was the turning point...although having said that they were on top.

Hey ho...nobody died. ..roll on Saturday

Wish them well . hope they get a big attendance club away .

Well if no one else is going to say I will. This team in general is hopeless, no fight ,no desire and hardly any football talent, what they produced today was an insult to the 150 or so supporters who made the journey. I can only assume Colley is injured and that is the reason we had to play Fairclough. Only Jay looked as though he was interested and willing to get about the pitch the rest were poor at best. Playing a lower league team and not having a shot in 90 minutes is pathetic. Can we turn it round? with this lot I seriously doubt it, all I and other fans ask for is 100% effort in every game, last week I praised the team for just that but if they are not going to give that in every game get rid.

Wish I could be so flippant about such an abysmal performance, tell it how it is, or are you worried about offending a certain person who in your eyes can do no wrong.

Sorry Mel
I'm not being flippant. ..
It's my first away day this year and tbh I wished I hadn't bothered....I could have watched Skegness town beat Wyberton today and enjoyed it much more and saved a few pounds.
You say..support someone who can do no wrong...
A bit harsh. ..I just don't like seeing scapegoats and knee jerk reactions. ..I believe he is doing his best as he has in previous seasons.....this one was ALWAYS going to be a very difficult season.
We did have one roll across the bar...sort of on target surely?
Also disappointed when one of our younger "chubbier " can round effing and Jeff ing at anyone who would listen regards the ref...silly boy

Fair comment mate I am sure he is doing his best but he needs to get some quality or even triers in. Stick by no shot comment what you refer to is a cross that deflected off a defender on to the tp of the crossbar. Be there on Saturday though daft as a brush.

I don't always agree with Mel but must admit Dennis seems to worry more about what the fans are doing than the team. Surely you must agree our defence is in the need of a good central defender. How long do we wait for nat Brown to be fit.???

At the end of the day, yesterday's game was only the FA Cup. It was not important as a League game. No manager nowadays loses his job if he is defeated in a domestic cup competition. Even LVG who won the damn thing last year couldn't keep his job such was this piece of silverware's "value"! We still have the FA Trophy if we really want a cup to aim for. ANY non-league Club in the first 3 tiers can at least get to the semi-finals of this white elephant if they really want to. DG will still be manager next week - the only person who may decide enough is enough is DG himself and that is unlikely to happen. The most important thing to happen to BUFC yesterday was the resurfacing of the A16 at the roundabout to the new stadium site - that is worth a lot more to the BUFC/Chestnuts business than a 4th qualifying round FA Cup tie! We are only 7 points off the play offs, so there's more than plenty to play for this season!

Nat brown is without doubt the most important returnee.
But when is Grant Roberts Shane Clarke Chipperfield coming back??.
I thought Emery did well yesterday in an otherwise disappointing performance. .Rollins and Smith (as usual ) kept trying.
At the moment we have some good players but not a good team....
Corners need to be turned.

Disagree regards FA Cup comment .   Far more income can come from a decent Cup run than winning the league , which we will not do this year .   Can,t see the chairman sharing your view .

Now more than ever DG must press for the play-offs , even if it was against odds pre-season .
Agree Greene will be here some time yet , can,t see the chairman dismissing a proven manager just to please a few kids on Facebook .      Get on with managing Den and give facebook a wide berth .

Agree that this year's developments with the new ground outweigh the developments in the FA Cup, which are the same most years for BUFC.

Is the A16 open now?

Sending off buggerered us but it's not like we were battering them before. We were pretty comfortable, as we were for large parts with 10 men but all afternoon no quality going forwards. That the closest we came was a deflected cross says it all. Disappointing.
We need the FA Cup money more than many in our league, just have to hope they get something really crap like Solihull, Southport or Gateshead away

 Objective post there GHM
Chestnuts maybe pretty flush re their property business , but prob ring fenced the playing budget re getting in 1 or 2 long loan or contracted central defs .
Big League clubs can ignore the FA Cup ,but non-league ones on a tight budget need that progress.
Maguires red card maybe appealed ?

with the exception of Rollins and Smith, as you mention, we have very few FIT players that are up to last year's standard, and you're quite right, we do not play often enough as a team of any sort, let alone a good one. There have been recent glimpses of light at the end of the tunnel but how long is the tunnel? Maybe Gaweth Southgate has a good idea. Pick a fullback that's been forgotten for a few years and throw him into the mix again....what about....Les McJannet?

But would we have got Solihull?

How is the draw made - had Boston Utd beaten Kettering would we have had a different number in the hat as we are B as opposed to K?
In which case we would have been home to Bromley or for northern section away at Southport.
Title: Re: commentary on Kettering Town
Post by: Pilgrim86 on October 04, 2016, 08:58:56 AM
The balls are numbered based on the previous draw, however we would have expected to be in the northern half, not the southern - as Kettering and Solihull.

We'd have had to have taken another southern team with us into the northern section (Kidderminster or Solihull, maybe?), so we could have got anybody...

Agreed. Kiddy got Lancaster then have got drawn at Weymouth!!!
The south section does seem to have more teams in it though. Surely a 50-50 split would've been possible?

12 ties in the north, and 20 in the south is not close to 50/50.
