Title: TARGET
Post by: green hats mate on August 01, 2016, 08:09:38 PM
Season about here ,  a tough 7 matches in Aug .

  H    Staylybridge.
  A    Harrogate
  A    Darlington
  H    Tamworth
  A     Chorley
  H     Kiddy H
  A      Gloucester

A few fans think the season can be over by the end of August ,  what points return in Aug would enable us to be able to reassure the panic prone that the season is not over by Aug 29th ?          Taking a realistic look I would settle for a minimum of 10 points,  anything more being a bonus .

Seven points I think. With the priority being the new ground move, I don't think the owners will be too bothered unless we find ourselves in a relegation battle.

8 games before I go back to school, if you add the FCUM home game in there. If we're above 15, we're in very good shape. Expecting us to just about make double figures from them 8.
Tends to be about 1.7 pts per game or thereabouts to get you in the top 5 and just above 2ppg for the title so anywhere above 13 and we're doing alright.

I've had a glance at them 7 games and expect about 11 before a ball is kicked. make that 14 from the first 8 against FCUM and 17 from 9 with Bradford at home. That'd be a tidy return but if we are to be up there we need to be getting something at sides around us (those first 3 aways)

Controversial, as always  :bunny

I'm not over keen on trying to predict the total expected points haul for any given month, its hard to predict when we don't know much about our opponents form and how their respective teams are gelling, the same as we won't know how we are looking until a good few games in. So i tend to avoid adding pressure onto the team in what is always a tough, unpredictable opening month.

Very difficult start....poss a few "contenders" in there.
Tues and Sat games.....sure it would have prem players struggling let alone part timers

I think 7 or 8 points from those games some tough tests and after the opening month we will know what sort of season we are in for.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Sack everyone now just in case they don't get 21 points.

If we are to challenge then need at least 12 points from those fixtures

8 or below would be a poor start

H    Staylybridge. = 3
  A    Harrogate = 1
  A    Darlington = 0
  H    Tamworth = 1
  A     Chorley = 3
  H     Kiddy H = 1
  A      Gloucester  = 1

10 points, we always seem to start slowly.

I think we should be looking at winning all 3 of them homes plus Gloucester, then getting bits and bobs from the other 3. 4 wins plus change out of the first 7 games would be a decent return

I've only seen one of the pre-season games so, based on absolutely nothing at all, my target would be 16 pts to put us near the top by the end of August.
Its about time we smashed this tin pot league  :dan

Not sure about the priority being the ground move anymore  :-\

Don,t think anyone predicted that in these 7 games 6 of them would be against  teams in the top 8 of the league .

Hardest start we have had for years and at the weakest we have been for years.  Losing to Stalybridge was the one that hurt most as this should have been a home banker and would have made things look a little better.  Need 6 points in the next 2 home games.

 Bit of an ask .

As said before ,the owners may agree to ignore League performance and ensure management stability until new ground is up and paying ..

don't agree with being vile, but Drury was bloody awful, or at least his results were, and that's how he has to be judged. His job was to manage a team to win games. He did not do that.

Fully agree H/C ,    Sadly sacking Lee proved that you do not always get some one better .

A warm welcome to the newbies. Who else smells a rat  ;)

You are a newbie yourself though, correct ?  ::)  So many conspiracy theories are been thrown around of late, none of which have been backed with solid evidence, just hearsay.

What i will say is that results are not good enough. Something has to give. But away from results, and the finger pointing of blame towards abuse, its not a one way thing, and never was !  Some fans are equally to blame for their parts played in the online abuse and its all pretty shameful to be honest.

Now the club is being pulled apart, change will be forced. So, now they have their way, just how much time would they be prepared to give any new manager before online abuse starts again, accusations of team management, accusations of off field issues regarding ones personal life etc etc ?  I honestly cannot see anything changing on that matter, moaners will moan even when we are on a good run, that is fact !

Some of the names already thrown into the debate of new manager don't even come close to having a good, proven managerial CV. Should we not give it to these few fans who seem to know it all about the clubs finances, best formation, injury reasons, players to sign etc ? lol.   I would love it, i would bloody love it...we could then give them a taste of their own medicine with abuse, ha,ha.  :bunny

About which things exactly ? If you are referring to the abuse history, stemming from BOTH sides, then yes. Memories seem to be short when it comes to its history, certain fans tagging the manager in their post match rants using quotes such as like last seasons " s*it, just what are you useless lot going to do about it ?" or "why don't you get off the net and concentrate on your job", probably sent when the manager was off the net, until he was tagged aggressively into the post !  Half the time the spark to the fire is caused by some of our own, and they have to take responsibility for that. As i have said previously on another post weeks ago, these people are only a minority of our otherwise great fan base.

I agree with the recent comment about the manager should be off social media, although his private account that should be used for that purpose only, keeping it away from football matters, and fans should not be friend requesting him only to then send him aggressive messages.
