Title: Player Ins and Outs
Post by: Cavalier on June 07, 2016, 05:21:00 PM
Looking forward to the coming season when there will be lots of changes to talk about.

2 more signings to be announced later, joining Courtney Wilding, Callum Chippendale and Shane Clarke already signed.

Current players resigned are Joe Burgess, Lewis Hilliard, Cameron Johnson and Jay Rollins, with Grant Roberts and Kaine Felix also agreeing to remain.
Assume Mark Jones, Richard Jones and Nat Brown will be staying, although we are still waiting on a decision from Fabian Spiess.

We knew we had lost Carl Piergianni, Liam Marrs and Dylan McEvoy, but now hear that Scott Garner and Zak Mills are going.  We are expecting Dayle Southwell to move to a higher league with a consolation payment and maybe a sell-on clause to soften the blow.

Not sure what the position is with Malachi Lavelle-Moore.

I'm pretty sure Richard Jones has left to play for Peterborough Sports. Quite a drop in levels but a great signing for them.

I wonder if he knew before what he now knows, whether DG would have signed an extra year contract? Rather than cementing what he's achieved, the way it's looking now, it's going to be like starting over. I know that's non league for you, and I haven't been the biggest DG fan in the past, but I feel a huge chunk of sympathy regarding the seeming exodus of the better players he's put together over the last couple of years. I understand budget plays a huge part at our level, but it seems the hard work that's gone in to building the side may be going to waste.

Waide Fairhurst, striker from Halifax. 27 years old. Former clubs include Torquay, Macclesfield, Hereford and Lincoln.

Fairhurst is an energetic, creative forward, who is just as effective with either foot and combines technical skill with strength and physicality, which enables him to excel with the ball at his feet. He is a versatile attacker, capable of playing anywhere along the front line, as a striker, supporting forward, or even as a winger. he's even been deployed in a deeper, more creative role, as an attacking midfielder because of his passing ability. Fairhurst is renowned for scoring goals inside the area and producing moments of brilliance to score spectacular strikes from all angles and distances. Fairhurst has also been praised for his work-rate and stamina. Not bad for a lad from Sheffield.

Zak Mills a big loss if he goes.

However Brown and Fairhurst look like good signings.

Brown more than deserves it after playing v well at the end of the season.

Fairhurst has only played at Football League / Conf National level and a fairly good goal scoring record there so looks to have the potential to be a 20+ goals a season man at our level. Looks a bit of a 'how did we manage to get him' signing. If Ferriby or similar had signed him would have assumed they'd be paying him big money, being a proven striker dropping down a league.

What's happened to Richard Jones and Malachi Lavelle Moore?

Believe we had a car school from Peterborough area consisting of the two Jones brothers, Piergianni and Mills. Will Mark Jones want to sign if he has to travel to training and matches alone?

I did see the previous post but haven't seen Richard Jones departure reported anywhere official so presumed just hearsay. Has it been on the official site at all? Or the Target or Standard? After the nature of his injury in his debut and the amount of time and effort the club have invested in his recuperation, I really thought he'd have been given an opportunity as part of next season's squad.

Can almost understand Richard going there as he needs to get back to match fitness before playing at a higher level again.  But, with all due respect to the following clubs, what possible reason can Mark have for wanting to play against Boston Town, Seaford Town, Holbeach Town, Wisbech Town, Deeping Rangers etc. when he has been reasonably successful in Vanarama North?

Don't know about Mark Jones but I have it on very good authority that Peterborough Sports are paying Richard  £300 per week.  Decent UCL players normally get about £100. I would be pretty sure this is more than he would get at Boston plus it is a 10 mine drive from his house.

I feel sorry for Richard Jones. He looked very promising on his debut before the bad injury struck. We should have at least given him time to prove himself once again, otherwise what was the point of signing him last time around ?  I for one wish him well. Am sure Den knows best, and if we get off to a flyer all will be good.  Any rumours on a keeper peeps ?

....if Fabian doesn't re-sign, then watch out for Sam Donkin. Currently coRby and former St Neots. Corby have just signed a new keeper, so Sam could well be available, and the clubs he's been at are well known hunting grounds....

It's a possibility, but there are other goalkeepers out there. Some of them are being followed on twitter by our manager and/or chief scout. Not that I'm stalking anybody! I believe Calum Kitscha would have played for Greene before at Histon. And then there's Shwan Jalal, an Iraqi born keeper who played at Macclesfield last season. Is he under contract there?

Doesn't Kitscha live down South ? Could be an issue what with travelling if so.  Would be a good keeper at this level, but can't see him dropping down and he would no doubt be wanting a hefty wage.

Said it before about Garner - no great loss. Unable to secure a role up front. Runs around like a headless chicken in Midfield. Too unreliable from a positional perspective in Defence. Include the fact that he lacks composure on the ball, can't pick out a simple pass and usually gets ten bookings a season, I think we're well rid.

There's a picture on Twitter of Kaine Felix returning to training. There are a couple of players standing in the background including one in a Barcelona shirt. Presumably a triallist, but does anybody know who he is?

Has Kaine signed yet?  Hope he has.

Son of Andy Dibble, just don't mention Gary Crosby.

Better than him not signing a contract, and leaving for free in a few months.

Blimey. Wasn't he our longest serving player? Who holds that accolade now? Is anybody left from the season before last?

That's right - no players now remain from the squad that started the 2014/2015 season

DG got to earn his ££ this close season.
With 3 leaving for higher clubs and a 4th probably would have done credit due to DG and Bunny for  sporting talent and bringing it on.
I hope there's a few amongst the new batch.

See he has signed a two year deal, but strangely he is still on our squad page.

Could be one of those "we'll buy him and loan him back" scenarios.

See he has signed a two year deal, but strangely he is still on our squad page.

With Clarke injury it leaves us with 14 available players , a respectable starting eleven could be picked from these .

Five weeks for DG to select and sign 4/5 players among the hundreds nation wide who are holding out for unrealistic pay demands .

I hope so but think he would have to be at a much bigger club for that to happen.

Scarborough News Sports Twitter page say's he did sign, so we need some clarification on all of this. Could be that once he was offered a deal here, that the other club tore up his contract.

Not heard anything about this until I had a text from a work colleague this morning - a Stockport County fan - saying that we'd signed one of their former players, but not sure where he found out. And, apparently, there's a thread about us signing him on one of the County fans forums. Colley joined Stockport at the start of last season from Bradford PA and returned to Yorkshire mid-season. As probably expected for a player who was only at a club for a relatively short time, there were mixed feelings about him from County fans, but many reckoned he showed promise and were sorry he didn't stay longer to see how time under Jim Gannon might have seen him improve. If this signing is confirmed, perhaps Dennis has seen something about him to think Colley could be the next Daryl Southwell??

We don't need clarification - he has signed for BUFC. He wouldn't have signed a contract there, or Scarborough (the club, not the newspaper) would have announced it. They didn't, and the club has done so via Facebook and Twitter.

Picture of him included in his BUFC training kit.. is that clarification for you? ;)

He won't be registered for them, as clubs don't register anyone until just before the season starts!

Or maybe the next Dayle Clare? Hopefully all the other new signings will be adequate replacements for Kaine Garner, Zak Felix, Liam Jones and Scott Mills. Not to mention Fabian Piergianni.

Bloody good players the lot of 'em!! Yes, lets hope the new arrivals are proud to wear the Boston Town shirt with pride and will grace the York Road pitch.
