Post by: Shauneyg on March 09, 2016, 08:15:27 PM
Does anyone have any info on the new stadium?

You will know in around 4 weeks time when it takes a hour to get into town but be patient as it's all for the greater good

So your thinking work on the new roundabout and infrastructure starts in next few weeks?

Yep. Getting into Boston from south is going to be a nightmare for about a year. Seriously messed up town. Glad live in Horncastle to the north to get to games. Presume best to leave A16 at kirton or take A52 at swineshead into boston if travelling from spalding way?

Think those coming from anywhere south of Sutterton will be best going up to swinshead

Then they will hit the Sleaford Road/Asda traffic lights backlogs.

Hopefully on completion of new ground Boston can start to parallel progress made by Burton Albion since admittance to League 2008 ..
  Heading League 1 & Championship beckoning .
       Leeds anyone ?  ;)

A fine example of how to progress ft ,   no quick or easy way for sustainable success .
It took them 9 years to make the Football league from the Southern League while all the time remaining solvent .

Nigel Clough was given time to build this success .  Time proved that Burton got it right .
Only guessing but I would think in those 9 years like many other clubs there would be a few vociferous fans telling the management and directors that they were doing it wrong !

I,m with you on this ft , do all the  fans realise this is the only way to do it ?.

And I thought u would give me gip GHM ..
Downers 4  Boston are ..not centrally situated ..smaller population ..Burton were good/lucky in their managerial choices / owned their old ground ..
Their crowd yesterday was 4400 .

Right about the our poor geographical situation ft , although some fans cannot grasp this .
Trust you on the population .
Sure you are right about the ground ownership .
RE: crowds ,  I am fairly  certain at the time Clough was engaged Boston,s gate,s were on a par or better than Burton,s .

Burton good/lucky in managerial choices ?     you do Burton a discredit there ft ,    they stuck with Clough right through to the Football League .
Could you imagine some of the posters on here tolerating a manager for 9 years to obtain only 2 promotions ?

Some may settle for Conf Nth - Div1 in 9 years  GHM .
   Let's see where D.G is in 4 1/2 years !
I think Brewers were canny / lucky to have Gary Rowett as Asst to Clough , then manager .
And good times under Hasselbaink as well .

9 years to get to Div 2 Ted ,    a little longer to get to Div 1 ,   even his dad could,nt perform miracles !!

Burton's success is partly based on good sense decisions within the boardroom but also partly on luck. One year for example they reportedly earned £600,000 in their share of gate receipts from an FA Cup away trip to Manchester United. Same story at Crawley. Those one off games can sustain clubs for years and massively drive their progression. We could be where Burton are now - if only Heybridge Swifts, Congleton, Workington, Leek or Kidsgrove were better supported!

Was on A16 at Wyberton yesterday and it looks like work preliminary work on the Quadrant site has started already. Saw a couple of JCBs in the field and the digging has commenced on what looks like an entrance road. Here goes!

surely 2 JCB's isn't enough, we need more strength in depth and should get at least 4 new ones in.

A mate tells me he saw one of the diggers turn out for the Environment Agency last month. Solid if unspectacular when it comes to dredging he reckons.

Did you notice what colour the JCBs were? Were they gold diggers?

The dreaded cones and roadwork sign is up,
7 months of roadworks the sign says!!
Let the traffic chaos and moaning begin.

Not exactly a fair comparison but...

Around Leeds the M1 and M62 managed motorways works went on for AGES (like months and months) and were a total nightmare for the entire area.  But since completed its not just better.  It's miles, pun intended, better.  Progress comes at a price but it is progress - good luck!  :)
