Title: great game today
Post by: howmanynames2pick on October 31, 2015, 06:16:03 PM
Excellent  win
Excellent  performance
Excellent atmosphere
Excellent individual performances.
Excellent  goal (Richards)
If Tony 'The Crane' Crane was The Crane then Pidge needs to be The Wall. Nothing got past him today
Jordan Richards was superb
Mark Jones had arguably his best game.
Well done to all.
If anyone can find anything to moan about today I would be surprised.

Great month for team , manager and most fans .

13 points from 5 games with a team without a "proper manager "who is  "increasingly desperate" and gets his "tactics wrong" and has not learned " loans do not work " ::)

Don,t think many will endorse the above comments put on by posters .

Loans don,t work !!!!   how about MacAvoy , Richards and Ravas ?

"Wrong tactics" !!! don,t think many managers Greene has come up against this month will agree with that .

No one has nominated a "proper manager" to replace him so please keep up the good work  Den .

...and I'm happy to admit I've been proved wrong. In fairness I would have dg's head on the block after the cup exit but he and the team have really got it together.13 points from 15 is a very impressive run, and dg deserves a shot at manager of the month for the turanaround. For once I'm happy to be wrong!

Smashing game we never looked in danger of loosing. Can I also say that our support was brilliant and also pay tribute to the F C fans who not only supported their team and sang throughout but helped make the minutes applause for Luke something rather special. I am sure Luke would have been looking down with pride R I P Luke. Could only happen like that in non league. Very proud to be a supporter.

Only gripe would be that the chances we had, the winning margin was only 2, not 6 or 7.
Superb

To much to say. First of all to  the away team and as a club-great respect to the supporters who went in the Sports Bar before during and after the match,I know it's tribal to support your team but some of our chants were funny as in we can see you sneaking out,yep to the sports bar yet our crew didn't. The minutes silence applause was emotional I know a few of Luke's family came for that and were so grateful for a massive level of respect. The two sets of fans fantastic it was like it used to be in the conference the referee was decent not card happy could have sent the keeper off but didn't and I was so impressed as it could have been an easy red non fussy but fair. As for the game they weren't the best but worked hard for the whole match and we deserved to win.  Man of the match could have been Scholsey Pidge Mills Marrsy or Dale or Robbins but for me Jonesy looked a new player taken some grief this season but looked class.  But to some up the day the club as a whole were back to were we used to be

We must have played well yesterday.  The forums gone dead.  No moaners.  Must have been the most positive Spayne Road has been for ages the noise overpowered the moaning. Happy days  :D

I hadn't seen us play for a few weeks so it was my first sight of a few players. They all did well but I was particularly impressed with Richards - he seems to be able lots of different things well...

Thoroughly entertaining match, and a great send off for Luke from both sets of supporters. All the players worked tirelessly but think Richards and McEvoy deserve special mention; Both seem to grow in confidence each game, and despite inexperience at this level contribute greatly to our present run of good results. Hope DG can persuade the parent clubs to extend their loans.
Encouraging that nearly half of the extra bodies through the turnstiles seem to have been local - wouldn't it be great if they turned up again for the next match?

If anyone can find anything to moan about today I would be surprised.

A bloke I know that sits in the main stand was moaning at half time. I think he was upset that after 20 mins we did let them have quite a bit of possession. Suffice to say that I told him that for me it was the best game of the season, and he then shut up.

October a grim month for the moaners .   "Lost dressing room "  " loans do no work "  ,  lacking a "proper manager " etc etc .   They got it all wrong .

Credit to West keal pilgrim for promptly coming on to admit he was wrong .

It was a very good performance today and full credit to all the team. From the players available we at last got the right players actually playing in the right position-- some people on here quickly forget the first half at Telford. The reason it was a good game is that FCUM are a side that likes to play football and go forward and that suits our style of play. I would have liked to see Dixon and Walker on earlier as the midfield looked a bit streched at times, but thats nitpicking. Pidge was superb, and I have to say that Richards had a magnificent game--unrecognisable from the full back position when he first came. Special mention to FCUM supporters- I wish our town end sounded like that every week-maybe it was where I stood but I did not hear them much in their temporary home down Spayne Lane. A wonderful send off for Luke and his family must be proud. Am I getting too positive GHM!!!!

Great start and it was a bit of a strange one from there really, some fantastic individual performances, Jona especially.

One thing is crystal clear though, if you want to get something from us don't try and play football.  Seen now a few times, sides that try it fall short as we have a great work ethic and a lot of players comfortable on the ball.  Hoofball if horrible to watch but we may see more and more sides adopt it through the season, shows how critical it is to keep the Pidge/Mills combo fit and Garner in midfield.

DT is right to remind us of the first half at Telford ,  the only 45mins in the month that Greene has not out-thought the oppossing manager yet still turned it round to gain an away point against an improving team .     Easy to see why coaches from higher level  trust Greene, and loan him  players to further their development .
As dt mentions the the vast improvement by Jordon Richards, it is an excellent example of the benifits of loans to both clubs ,  pleased to see dt now accepting loanee,s after so strongly oppossing them. Another one Greene has got right .
Jordon also put to bed another of dt pet theories ,  would a 6ft plus northerner midfielder that he demands made a more telling  contribution  than Jordon on Saturday?

A great run yet we still have key players missing ,  future looks bright .

I,m sure dt will echo my sentiment,   WELL DONE DEN .

Maybe the hat muffles the sound. Pretty good atmosphere I thought, all game.

Never heard the Townenders all match.  I cannot understand why they stand in Spayne road.  What is wrong with the York street end?  Some of the older posters will remember how the York street sounded in it's hayday. I know the Townenders sang their hearts out on Saturday, but no one could hear them due to bad acoustics.  The acoustics are way better at the York street end.

Personally, it's too shallow for a couple of hundred people to be close together. And the people who normally stand there will probably moan about the noise.

The players could obviously hear the singing, as they came over at the end.

Agree with that. We need to take the roof of YS with us for our new ground! I do radio comms and even a few away fans can make enough noise for it to distract me with a headset on.

Thought it was the loudest for a little while, certainly like a 90 minute version of the end of the Alfreton game when we were non stop for about the last half houyr.
That said, we didn't really come across on the club's highlights video.

I was sat in the Main Stand, and hardly heard the townenders.  Hardly surprising when FC Utd fans were in full voice.
I also can't understand why they congregate down Spayne Road - not only have you got poor acoustics but also have to chant/shout above the away supporters.

The York Street Stand was traditionally the Home End - and can remember the fantastic atmosphere that was created by supporters there.

Yes I was there as I have been for over 40 years and not criticising the fans. Just made the comment that I could not here the town end as several others have also stated. Its not cold enough for the hat yet, but will be soon. It might be useful for those on the town end to chant a bit more clearly as most of us on Spayne Lane havn't got the slightest idea what they are singing anyway.
