You can all hold your heads up, there wasn't what could be called a "bad pen"
Fine line between success and failure.
So many ifs and buts from both games.
Rene Steer being the last guy was distraught but he can hold his head high because over the season he has been brilliant.
Looking forward to next season now.
Well done Den, Bunny and the team.
(Spoke to Stef Galinski pre game, what a nice guy)

I wonder what our record is in penalty shootouts?
-
The only one I remember us winning (of the few we've had) is at Stamford, in the Lincs Shield/Cup. Miller came on and scored against us that day, and Gary King's penalty is probably still in the air.

Don't think we've ever won an important one. FA Cup/trophy/play offs.

In my teens I remember being at York Street and seeing us win the Eastern Professional Floodlight Competition after a penalty shoot out. On checking I found it was on Wednesday 10 May 1972 against Romford. We had drawn both legs of the final 0-0 and won the shoot-out 3-1.
The EPFC was a midweek competition and included teams such as Cambridge Utd, Cambridge City, Chelmsford City, Stevenage, Kings Lynn & Brentwood Town to name some I remember. United often used to field teams that were less than full strength. Squad members on the fringe of the first team and some Reserves frequently got a game.

There used to be some very good games in the EPF, wish it was still going.

Can never criticise anybody who steps up to take penalties in that pressure situation.
Just wish Magic had taken the 5th one rather than the 6th!!!
