Title: Success for Altrincham

You have to feel sorry for Guiseley. Ever the bridesmaid, never the bride. After reaching the play_offs yet again, their makeshift side were narrowly beaten 2-1 in the final minutes of extra time.

Not at all. At least a proper football side has got promoted and not a village team.

No sympathy at all, take away the backer and they'd sink without a trace back to the NCEL.

Us Stockport and Barrow are the only proper clubs in this hell hole, but you can bet some idiot will be throwing his cash at one of about half a dozen hobby clubs again this season.........sickening.

AFC Fylde will be the latest hobby club to grace the Skrill North, they have ambitions to be a FL team by 2022.  Didn't Bradford PA announce a five-year plan to be a FL team about seven years ago?

Without Mr Newton at your club it would sink to.

As for being a proper club all you are is a non league outfit like the rest of us in this league.

Mr Newton's hobby club.

Erm, thankyou ( think it was a sort of compliment)

N40's has a sense of entitlement that most BUFC fans don't (thankfully) but he or she is consistent.

Not sure what constitutes a "proper" club, or how Boston fit into the category. Perhaps some on this forum can enlighten me. A few ideas

1 an ex FL club?
2 Financially well managed?
3 Successful at this level? (and the level above)
4 excellent set-up? (Ground, facilities, reserves, youth teams, community etc)

Maybe something else?

Don,t know how long you have been following the blues Steeli but plodder would maybe sum you up ,
after all being able to predict a mid-table every pre-season and collect your winnings from the bookies year after year seems pretty boring .

I,ve been a regular at YS for 65 years so I claim to be a " proper" supporter of N/Fs proper club .
Maybe N/F is thinking about the string of international players such as Gazza who have appeared in the Pilgrims shirt .  or is it the championships we have won (or the relegations ) and bigger gates we get .

From my own point of seeing a manager who learned his trade at Boston go on the manage England was pleasing .  Following the club has taken many of us older generation to such places as Baseball ground , W H Lane ,Filbert St , Wembley and not forgetting  Southwark Crown Court . :P
To me the real plus is walking into the Eagle (or Ship at Fosdyke ) on a Saturday night and commanding the respect and offers of free drinks from other proper supporters .
