Why don't you emailrMr Newton direct and send him the link if it's a message for him?

Im sure he will be pleased to hear from you and take your concern very seriously....
How are you supposed to get a very valid point across if you send it to the wrong place?
Schoolboy error old chap!

Difference is that what Ronnie Moore did is football related.

As much as I think what DG has done to the team and general feeling about the place is nothing less than superb, it still sits uncomfortably with me that DG has been cheating the tax payer.
Although for different reasons to SP I suspect.

I see John McMahon was placed in caretaker charge of Tranmere. Back in the day he played against Boston a few times for Runcorn and Altrincham. He was the brother of Steve McMahon.

Well done SP. Amazing how some folk keep taking the bait. A post without responses is just a match stick.

hic hic belch. most tasty :bunny

Anything substantive to say on the matter Andy?

Such as why has the BUFC manager's contract of employment not contain  anything  to the effect that if he does anything to jeopardise the integrity of the club this will be a breach of contract and he's out (especially given the club's recent past).

Or do you consider his recent conviction as just one of those things that football managers often get up to?

The case of Ronnie Moore reads as follows:

"His breach relates to Rule E8(b) of the FA's regulations.

This states that any participant in football "shall not bet, either directly or indirectly, or instruct, permit, cause or enable any person to bet on the result, progress or conduct of a match or competition in which the participant is participating, or has participated in that season; or in which the participant has any influence, either direct or indirect"

It seems pretty obvious that of you are betting on the outcome of matches of which you have an influence, then their is a clear conflict of interest in being the manager of a football club.  The clear implication is that at some point, you may well be tempted to throw the result of your own game.  In addition, the fact that Tranmere are quite close to the relegation trapdoor and will now not have to pay any compensation to the manager of an underperfoming side, probably had no bearing whatsoever.

The case of Dennis Greene's benefit fraud occurred previous to his employment with Boston United and had no conflict of interest with regards to managing a football club.  Had the offence occurred during his employment with the club, then perhaps there would be a case for him getting fired.

The timing of any criminal activity is a red herring.

Employing and keeping employed a convicted fraudster at Boston United sends out the wrong signal completely.  Is this chap not responsible for signing players and dealing with agents? Should someone who has committed fraud be doing this?  :bunny

I'm sure he still IS Steve McMahon's brother!
