Title: New Contract for DG
Post by: beefpilgrim on March 13, 2014, 10:30:39 AM
DG has signed a new 2 year deal, well deserved in my opinion and brings a bit of stabilty to the club after all the chopping and changing of managers beforehand... well done DG.

Beef,

I disagree about the stability remark. Contract lengths in football are pretty meaningless nowadays as far as any link to actual tenure served is concerned.

If DG loses his next 'X' amount of games then he would probably be sacked, regardless of his contract length. Chairmen would rather pay the compensation and find a new manager than risk a relegation and / or wrath of the fans week in, week out.

A long contract is good for the manager as it gives him some financial stability (as long as he keeps his nose clean) and BUFC - although only if he were to be poached  by some other club willing to pay him more - and they could then negotiate for compensation.

I think it does show stability. DG can now look to offer contracts now to players he wants to keep next season.

players want to know who is in charge before signing new contracts, you will want to play for a manager who appreciates you.

P86 - I doubt very much Boston are in a position to be offering contracts to players for next season in March. Most business at this level is conducted right at the end of the season and predominantly in the close season.

The whole issue around next season is far from clear at the moment. If we get promoted then the full time/part time issue arises. Would many of the current team be good enough at a higher level. Would the current squad be happy to travel on a national level. Could a part time player like Newsham get down to somewhere like Toquay for a mid-week game. Would he sign a contract now. If we don't get promoted, should we get rid of most and start again with a team capable of achieving promotion.

Lot's of questions. No such thing as stability in football.

Are we willing to risk losing key players to other clubs? At the end of the season, contracted players can talk to other clubs - right now, they cannot.

I think the fact that Kempster as put in the Statment that Dennis can now start planning for next season as basicly given him the nod to start talking to those players he wants to keep. I seem to remember Newsham and Ross was end of march last year .

Whichever league we are in next season Pidge, Newsham and Miller need to be offered a contract extension ASAP!

IF GARNER and PIDGE stay with us they are the only 2 good enough to go up a league me thinks
if we stay were we are I think they will leave'
there are 6 players left from last season will all of those be with us next season I think not.
I would try and keep STEER  MILLER and NEWSHAM for sure.

I think we will still be in this league next season. If we don't sign Pidge and Garner, Steer,Newsh n Miller they will snapped up by someone. The most important person I want to see back next season is the lady who brings the coffee n biscuits every game.  ;D

Next we will be having White Dee as assistant manager! How can our benefit cheat/scrounger manager ever gain respect for what he did? A terrible decision.

I go to support my team as I have done for the past 30 years and bypass the fact that we have a benefit fraudster manager. I despise our benefit fraud manager, what a cu*t he is for taking good hard working people's cash, that Newton don't give a toss as he is just chasing land deals, it's obvious Newton has no values backing a benefit fraudster so I value him less. I just cheer on the good hard working lads, while our manager and Chairman can rot in hell for their selfish actions.

Thank goodness Newton is more tolerant than you otherwise the taxpayer would maybe be supporting Greene and you and I would have no BUFC to support .

He will no doubt deny it  but that would be par for the course.

I trust Ken Fox will censure him for his bad language in one of his posts which wasn't necessary.  A four letter word with just one letter missing should not be allowed on a forum which is used by families.

Don't think Greene is an ultimate winner.

Has SP died and been reincarnated as CR.
Probably not because SPs posts have a better class of intellectual content. I could say I have been watching Boston united for over 50 years so have the right to say give him a break and lets get on with the game. ALL clubs are just pawns in an individuals  big plan. We are all Saints but we are not all whiter than white.

To be honest ..rarely .
On and mainly off from the mid 1960s.. interveaning  work commitments , spells  of watching Forest /Derby .. frequent apathy to the state of the game in general .. felt something something wasnt quite right  during League days  and run up to ..
Boston born ..but wouldnt jump off a bridge if the Club folded.. there are always more important issues for one to ponder.
Always post sober..in a journalistic rather than partisan manner .. so probably not a happy clapper.
Have serious illness at present but should hopefully improve later in year .Would try to attend Playoff Final if reached.

Regards to all on here (including SP ! )

I would think Newton will  let Den take over lock stock and barrel if Den has a few £million to sink in the club

WTF is going on here with all these axe grinders hiding behind alias accounts and 'granddads'? How about claude rains/scouse pilgrim/rooster isaac you post under one name? Or better still how about everyone else ignores your posts? Then hopefully you'll get bored and go away.

Just so that you don't forget!

A troll is a supernatural being in Norse mythology and Scandinavian folklore. In origin, troll may have been a negative synonym for a jötunn (plural jötnar), a being in Norse mythology. In Old Norse sources, beings described as trolls dwell in isolated rocks, mountains, or caves, live together in small family units, and are rarely helpful to human beings.

Later, in Scandinavian folklore, trolls became beings in their own right, where they live far from human habitation, are not Christianized, and are considered dangerous to human beings. Depending on the region from which accounts of trolls stem, their appearance varies greatly; trolls may be ugly and slow-witted or look and behave exactly like human beings, with no particularly grotesque characteristic about them. In Norwegian folklore most trolls have tails, and some may have several heads. Their size may also vary from a few inches to several miles high, and some of the bigger ones usually have trees, moss or other plants growing on it. Different races of trolls were based on which area they live in. Traditional examples of this may be mountain trolls, forest trolls and ocean trolls (Draug). Trolls are sometimes associated with particular landmarks, which at times may be explained as formed from a troll turning to stone upon being exposed to sunlight (though other depictions have them not turning to stone in sunlight). As one of the most famous elements of Scandinavian folklore, trolls are depicted in a variety of media in modern popular culture. :bunny

In Internet slang, a troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people by posting inflammatory, extraneous or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), either accidentally or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.
