Title: Pilgrim Lounge
Post by: Myleftfoot on August 22, 2009, 10:58:36 PM
The new make over is good and more in keeping with what we should expect these days, well done David and Neil.

I was surprised at not being able to occupy my "usual" area in the bar due to a whole side being taken over by reserved seats! Why is is it necessary to reserve such a huge portion of tables at which players from both teams eventually arrive to eat, fleetingly?
Is room no longer available in the board room? The possible integration with supporters fails when we were told without ceremony, to move from an area our group had adorned on match days for some fifteen years by a sweaty (BOSTON) player that wished to squaf his grub"we're going to be eating there so you'll have to shift", ! Perhaps some social skills training is required?
David, Neil is the dichotomy not apparent?

I totally agree with the first comment - it's amazing what difference it has made.

Batemans on tap and glorious sunshine what more can you ask for - other than 3 pts.

I am under the impression that the board room is the next to get the extreme makeover treatment

They'd run out of Bateman's and we didn't get 3 points.  >:(  ;D

One of the main reasons for putting a kitchen in was being able to provide both sets of players with hot meals after the game just like the majority of non league clubs do nowadays. Previously we would supply a tray of sandwiches in the dressing room and the players would consume these then get on the bus or in their car and go home, hopefully this is another way of meeting the players, we have had loads of complaints over the last few years that the United players in particular never ever came into the Sports Bar to integrate with the fans, so this is another way of making them do just that.

Unfortunately they do have to sit somewhere and when you have two squads of 20 players it definitely takes a lot of space up, but it would only be for about quarter of an hour from around 5.15 to 5.30. The players should be more polite in asking people to move and will be told so but we are learning every week so comments are appreciated.

The bar area was extremely crowded, but the practise of putting tables/chairs on the dance floor seems to have stopped...could a temporary mat go down for match days to increase the seating areas?

Say no the seating at football, prey for standing room only, means we are doing well

Yes we will put some more seating on the dance floor, because there were some spare chairs on the stage not being used. I didn't notice them at the time, so sorry about that. We want to keep everyone happy, it's no good just complaining between yourselves, just let us know what the problem is and we will try to sort it out.

Re: The entertainment, what does everyone think about the acts booked so far? ...we are trying to get a wide variety of acts from the start with a 60's night with Crooked Finger first on the 5th September and then a Blues night (don't be put off by Blues, the band Vanilla Smooth sing a variety of covers from Amy Winehouse, Katie Melua, Eric Clapton and Van Morrison to Frank Sinatra) on the 12th, followed by a great night of Motown & Northern Soul with DJ Martin Topley and Soul Singer Glen Franklin. Then finally for September we have a cracking Rat Pack night with singer Sean Andrew.

Entrance for the 60's, Blues & rat Pack nights is £2 a ticket or £3 on the door and for the Motown Night tickets are £3 and £5 on the door, all tickets available from behind the Bar, United Box Office and Chris Cook Print.

Don't forget about our Comedy Club, our first event is on Saturday 3rd October and we have 3 comedians and a compere appearing and the price is ticket only at £8 including a FREE Hot Dog!

Please support our new venture, we do appreciate all the support we get as a whole. Keep supporting The Pilgrims!

Comedy Club is nothing new at York Street......

Invite Evans back - he has been doing comedy for years. Just play back his post match comments, keep an audience entertained for hours. A true professional, who always keeps a straight face and never laughs at his own jokes - credit where credit is due.

Rodwell as the straight man - or is that the fall guy?

Warm-up act: Sotnick presenting his building plans to the council, followed by the cag about the Chairman never get paid.... all totally original.

Evans can even supply his own doorman !

 ;D

Then we can build up to Platini and an end of season finale with Blatter

Bring the house down .....

On kens point of batemans, I commented a couple of weeks ago that we needed to ensure we had batemans on, especially as there was a feeling that it wasn't selling well enough, I said wait until the first home game, hate to say I told you so. Please let's ensure we get the beer sorted, it's what keeps the customer happy, everything else us secondary.

One gripe Cookie, but not really for me, when I arrived at the ground at about 2.50pm, the queue at the booking office window for kids tickets was yards long, surely some of them must have missed the start of the game, can't this practice be altered???
