On a previous post I stated that DN and NK needed to take the bull by the horns and sort this situation out ASAP.
I, with 99.9% of others that post on here thank the chairman from the bottom of our hearts for what has happened over the last few years.
We are all supporters, and we must all pull together.
It is very hard to motivate yourself to attend a match when the team is struggling, I am probably the worst culprit. But if the gates plummet we have no chance to address the situation.
I had contact with David Newton pre season concerning an idea I had to aid with finances with the team.
I thought my idea had milage but via email, DN thanked me for my input and went to great length in telling me why it was not possible.
I could see where he was coming from, but thought with a bit of tweeking it could have worked. My idea is no longer viable but it got me thinking.
What if we all had an input via this forum? what if we bounced some ideas around?
I remember the Pilgrim lottery of the 70's, I am not saying do a lottery, what I am saying is, as anyone got a fundraising idea that would catch the imagination of the Boston public?
In these hard times, has anyone got an easy to run, cheap to enter, big prize offering stonking idea?
It must be something that does not clash with nor hinder the present fundraising schemes.
Can we, who have an idea meet up? Can we organise a meeting with BUSA? Can we have a meet with David Newton to suggest some fundraising ideas?
I am seriously worried about the revenue we will lose in the coming weeks, and I think we need to take some responsibility about the future of our club.
Just a thought. :)

With you Bob, thinking cap on.

I reckon the Trust have got a load of cash you know. See if you can track down Melvin Moxon.

if the malkinsons still support the club maybe they could lower the rent on the ground. the sooner we get a new stadium the sooner they can develop york street.
-
With you all the way but if you involve BUSA I'm out...........after the way they laid down and let Evans dictate to them during his tenure they should be running buses and no more.
Problem is you're just milking the same old pockets all the time, if the club want to raise a bit more money why not speculate to accumulate and get another commercial bod in, even part time. Either that or get Craig out and about a bit more (a company phone wouldn't go a miss here either.......) and cut the programme size and price......I think we can all live without knowing what the reserve team goalie does on his holidays or read 10 year old articles on football programmes. Also with the club having such close ties with Sheffield United's pools office why not ask to go out and about with them for a few days and pick up some idea's.........?
And yes, I can appreciate how hard that commercial job is here after the wreckage left behind by the Fat Scottish Criminal.......it must be a thankless task and its not one I'd want to take on. I know I read what Chris Cook put about all the pack going out and not getting a reply back.......times are hard but a new trick or two picked up from elsewhere could be the catalyst for a new revenue stream.
God that sounds like something Sotnick would say........ :-\
-
So that's not "all the way" then?
-
Melvin!Forgot about him.Does he still come to the matches?
-

Perhaps you're better off out then? I'm not sure why you still carry such an enormous chip on your shoulder with BUSA..........the events of a few years ago were just that....a few years ago, around the time you were praising Evans in your entry on Ken's fan page? Everyone has moved on except seemingly you. I would reckon that BUSA currently raises far more money for the club than it ever has done - the Golden Goal alone has pumped more than £10,000 into helping the club, mostly directly, but also indirectly (ensuring buses run when making economics don't make sense etc.).

Great idea!!
I cant remember what club it was that did this, but it was an excellent idea to earn money...
Seeing as alot of fans seem to think they can manage the team alot better than JL and LC, Why not offer them a chance to 'become the manager' of boston united!
Sell tickets to fans and the winner can stand in the home dugout and be the manager (for 10 mins or so without actually making any subs etc ;) )
I myself would definitely enter to win that!
Seemed a great incentive for whatever club did that a year or two back!
-
Right,
I do not know about the logistics of this idea, but pick the bones out of this.
WBA have the largest lottery syndicate in the country, they raise hundreds of thousands a year for the club and over the years have won hundreds of thousands for themselves.
The principle is this: All members pay £10 a month, this entitles them to 8 draws per month Wed / Sat.
The club take £2 from each member per month out of the £10 for expences.
EG: 500 members in syndicate = £1000 to club per month. 500 being about 35% of our fan base.
The club also take 10% of all winnings
The numbers will be permed ( just like the pools ) so depending on the number of members, a three number match could be multiplied many times. Likewise if you match four numbers you get that multiplied plus the three number matches and so on.
Perhaps Qwerty could work out the combinations?
So the more members, the more combinations, the more chances of winning.
Most of us still play the lottery, so should not be a big burden money wise.
How do we pay?
when do we get paid out?
How do we pick the numbers?
Who will organise the syndicate?
Just an idea
ps thanks to my brother for thinking of this.

In reply to the question is Melvin still around I can tell you that I most definately am and that I support the lads home and away.
DL whoever he is ( strange how some people hide behind a forum name) says the trust can have a lot of money. Let me tell you the trust was initially set up to oppose the Fraudster and his crew from driving our club into oblivion but many just opposed us and supported that lot. Many of you Iam sure remember me asking questions at a forum run by the fraudster and his puppets where I was threatened by them. Did I get any support No I did not most people in attendance including the local media just sat there like dummies.
When David and Neil saved the club the trust or should I say what was left of it threw our wholehearted support behind them and I and I know others who appear on here tried to raise funds to help them.
All the money we had was given to the club in exchange for shares ( £3000 ) The trust is no longer as it came down to to just 3or 4 of us with no interest from anyone else.
Bob raises a good point and was a trust director and if people are interested I would be more than happy to join with him and other enthusiasts to do all we can to help our great Directors to raise funds.
Please stop trying to put pressure on David he does not deserve it put yourselves forward and do possitive things and let us see through Davids 5 year plan to see our club prosper.

Cheers for answering Melvin.

The Malkinsons originally wanted to charge the club £250,000 rent which tells you how much they support the club.
-
How about instead of a swear box put a moan box on this site, the club would make a fortune they would make that much money we could even change our colours to black and gold.
(apparently I am dubbed a happy clapper because I don't happen to agree with some on this site) ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

greedy bastards. how much do they want to srcew to club over.
what i don't get is why money men want to invest in clubs like gainsborough and alfreton when clubs like ours have so much potential and could be a far better prospect. maybe we should look for a wealthy arab who wants to spend his money and saturdays on and watching boston united at york street (or plush new stadium).
-
Can't blame the Malkinsons!

Completly no assets and the only assets availible cost a hell of a lot more thats why they dont invest.
Amyway i would rather have DN who took the club out of passion than a filthy rich guy looking for a new toy

Can't blame the Malkinsons!
Pat Malkinson was the man who hired Evans and knew about the cheating that was going on.
A lot of people, myself included, still have a pop at Evans on this board but let's not forget Malkinson himself was also charged with fraud so how can the Malkinsons not be partly to blame for what has happened to this club these past few years?
-
Can't blame the Malkinsons!
What a dumb ass statement...who was it that got found quilty of ruining this club along with Evans and leaving it where it is ::)
-
I am the one sat in the main stand, still with the screw top on my bottle of pop hiding it from the stewards.
Naughty boy.
-
I see this thread has stayed on topic.
-
please please please forget about evans, he,s history to this club.I wish malkinson and co. were too,but keep moaning about them isn,t going to improve our situation on or off the field .Bob tries to be positive and you all go off on your own little gripes which helps nobody. as anybody else got sensible suggestions thank you
-
I was referring to the rent of the ground not the past history of the Malkinsons!
-
Ok you lot who are slagging the Malkinsons!I expect you to call for a new keeper next week!
-
Hello Mr. Malkinson!
-
" Lest we forget "
-
So we lose 6-1 and its the Malkinsons' fault? Don't quite get the reasoning, they haven't had anything to do with the club for years - or is that why its their fault?
-
Same thoughts Old Pilgrim! Why did they have to bring back the past? Norty40 would be slaughtered on here for mentioning anything Evans Era! Ok let's win on Saturday and all go to the Glider and buy Pat a pint!!
-
So we lose 6-1 and its the Malkinsons' fault?
No one is saying that, someone mentioned the rent and we said it was too high and it was hurting the club and our progress.
-
It's obvious it's too high for a non league club! I think FC Manchester pay a high rent aswell! But I bet the Malkinsons could get more if they turned the land into a Dale Farm Campsite! Get 20 odd caravans on the pitch invite the "local land workers" to rent a caravan for £100/150 a week. That would be a £2000/£3000 a week!
-

-
Malkinson have nothing on Chestnuts.
Chestnuts see BUFC as a club
Malkinsons saw BUFC as a toy.
End of.
-
BostonGoals! Theres no point.Like 90% of the posters on here who trying to find an excuse for why we lost 6-1 on Saturday!
You can't blame the Malkinsons for trying to get the most possible. With the recession and the Gala Bingo!
Any way I'm getting like the rest of the happy clappers posting rubbish!
-
no one is blaming malkinsons for anything. just a thought that we maybe could renegotiate the current rental aggreemant. could be in both parties interests.
-
This thread was started by Bob who suggested ways of raising money for the club but has been twisted round to blaming all those who put the club into its present financial position. Not one it seems has come forward to volunteer themselves or suggest ideas. Therefore may I respectfully suggest that if you are going to just carry on posting alarm and despondency that you start or choose another thread as this one clearly reads "WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER"

For once I agree with you Mel ;)
-
That's right the Malkinsons didn't get convicted, didn't get us demoted, didn't try to get £250,000 in rent
In fact it was a privilege to be in the Evo Stick, to be paying high rent for land that can only be used for sport until the end of the lease. It was a pleasure to have the name of Boston United dragged through the gutter.
oh thank you very much
-
Come on Camel, wipe the sand out your eyes. The Malkinsons didn't get us demoted - think you might find there were at least a couple of other chairmen who led us to that!
-
If only JB had sent them forms in! We could be in Premiership by now!

Oxo,
The trust was not set up to oppose the fraudster - it was established to give fans a voice and to provide an alternative means of ownership of the club based on a democratic, responsible and accountable model. In doing this it was necessary to show the world how the club was being run into the ground and made bankrupt.
If the Trust has been disestablished the shares should have been given to other charitble sporting organisations. so where are they?
Why was the closure of the Trust not announced. Has Sports Direct been informed?
Any new Trust should not be used as a milch cow for BUFC. BUSA does this. Funds should raised in anticipation of one day buying a football ground. This should be owned by the Trust.
DL

I think the trust was started by Rooster in Montys front room on matchdays!I can remember going to a secret meeting above Oldrids shop next to Argos several years ago!

A bit back Qwerty tried to win £100,000 by trading on betfair, if he was successful he was going to donate the winnings to BUFC.
Right, I challange Qwerty or who ever else wants to take part.
The rules are simple.
We all put £20 of our own money in.
We bet/lay 20% of kitty via betfair
We will post our selection on this forum for all to see.
The object is to see who has turned the biggest profit ( if any ) by the end of the season.
All profits by all contestants will then be donated to the club.
Come on Qwerty, wher's yer bottle ;) ;)
-
if we bet against lincoln every week we could be on to a winner!
-
I don't mind having a go at this again. I've stuck £100 up in a secondary Betfair account.
I'm going to try and spin it on a bit faster this time, ( it's a bit boring to start with) this will invole a lot more risk early on but the rewards will be greater if we get away with it.
I'm going to try and bring in some win bets and not just lays. The only rule is all selections and stake will be posted on this thread before the event to prove it's genuine, all/any profit will be used to help BUFC.
£100 to £137,920.12 challenge.
Start with £100 and bet 2% of the bank on a daily basis, within 1 year you’ll bank over £100,000, but the biggest challenge is not losing a bet early on.
Below is the target for each day
(Day #, current bank, bet needed, bet needed including 5% Betfair commission, bank after successful lay).

Day 1)
1.55 Haydock: Jamie Spencer will win this on Tom Tates 'Beyond Conceit'. I'm tempted to go all in with a £100 win bet to start us off. With Godolphin having a couple of unexposed runners in the field I've decided to start nice and easy with a LAY of David Evans 'ANNALULA'.
So any result other than ANNALUNA winning the 1.55 Haydock completes day 1.
Over to you Bob :)

Bloody hell Qwerty ;D anyone else in on this?

I have decided to back a horse, I am taking on top combination of Ruby Walsh/Paul Nichols.
My selection is Sizing Symphony in the 2.10 Cheltenham. This horse is coming over with a nice reputation from Ireland.
I have placed 20% of my £20 initial pot.
I have placed £4 on to win a profit of £5.60.
You are right Qwerty, we both need a good start.
Good luck.
-
You bottled it Qwerty ;D ;D well done ;)
-
Stop the contest ;) we both show a profit on the first day :bunny :bunny at this rate we will soon get begging letters.
-
Well done!

Dear Bob, and er, Qwerty
My name is also Bob, and I am chairman of a struggling tinpot BSP football club. I have just belatedly sacked the teams manager as he was, frankly, shite. The players are taking me for a ride and don't try, and the fans have deserted my club in droves.
I get no money from The Football League, and I expect to lose around £1,000,000 this year taking everything into account including loss of income from the league, huge and unjustified wages paid to some carthorses that I am stuck with, and the compo that I have had to pay the mug that I have just sacked.
I am now having to take on another clueless idiot to act as team manager, who will want to spend money that I don't have.
I have had a very unhappy few months, with some people even questioning my judgement on a variety of football related subjects, and I need to get them all back onside.
I can see that you are onto a nice little earner with your gambling adventure, and wonder if you would please help make up my clubs shortfall for this season, so that I may be seen to have saved the day ,and to reign over this perpetual disaster for many years to come.
My need is greater than yours.
Thanks Awfully
Bob

Ok, My balance now stands at £25.05 after com.
I have to bet horses early on in this competition to generate funds to lay off later on.
So today I am investing again.
20% of my fund £5 is going on So you Think 410 at Ascot.
This Aiden o brian horse was unlucky in the Arc recently, ( even though he would not have beat the winner ) and the trainer has a lot of faith in this horse.
If he wins it would increase my fund by £13.25 before com.
Bet of the Day is Frankel, but is too short to punt.

Frankel won but at 1/3.
Our bet came second and broke the course record, but the winner also did the same, pipped by half a length by the bloody French ;D
-
I am leaving the horses alone today.
I still have to back short to generate a kitty to play with.
So I am doing a football double.
20% of the kitty £4 is being placed on a win double. Arsenal to beat Sunderland and Newcastle to beat Spurs To give us a profit of £12.16 before com.
Being a Spurs supporter, you do not know how much this hurts me to bet on Arsenal and against the mighty Spurs.
But I think Arsenal will be way too good for Sunderland and notch up a convincing win.
Newcastle are inspired this year and at home to a free playing Spurs I can see Newcastle sneeking it. :(
-
Back to the horses today.
Our pot took a little bit of a hit over the weekend, but we are still solvent.
My bet today is in the 4.20 at Plumpton, I had this down as favourite and cannot believe i got just over 4/1 I think it will be shorter before the off.
It is trained by Donald McCain ( son of Ginger, Red Rum fame ) and I have invested £3.20 20% of pot on Painted Sky :o
-
Things have gone t-ts up, at this rate we will be playing in the Boston and District league next season.
Regal Gold in the 3.50 at yarmouth a stake of £2.40 giving us a profit of £16.32
-
Needed it, we are back in business. ;D won
-
Well done. Matched at 50's in running I think. Are you in profit now?
-
Yes £8.35 in profit, not a lot, but our next 20% bet will be a stake of £5.70 :)
-
Yes £8.35 in profit, not a lot, but our next 20% bet will be a stake of £5.70 :)
41.75% in a week. That's nearly keeping up with UK inflation :)
-
My selection today is Knockalongi in the 2.40 at Worcester.
Won a nice bumper early in the year, and with it's main rival Cardinal Rose a non runner, our £5.70 stake should give us a profit of £18.48 before commission.
-
Tracked leaders, mistake 5th, challenged 3 out, not fluent 2 out, stayed on same pace final 100 yards
Unlucky Bob!
-
Did not see yesterday's race but second does not put any money into club's coffers.
We have £4.52 to invest today, so I am going with Sholaan in the 305 at Brighton, only a small profit got about 6/4 about it so we will win £6.60 hopefully ;)
-
Non runner Bob!
-
Was 'A Mugs Game' also a non runner?
-
Was 'A Mugs Game' also a non runner?
At least I am trying to do something, this thread was meant to get extra revenue for the club. Mugs game or not it's how I make my living, how about you??????

Local horse Helston trained by local trainer Pam Sly runs in the 3.55 @ Fakenham.
I have invested our £4.52 on it.
Pam Sly has a good record at Fakenham and I hope she wins for us today.
I shall be at Fakenham and cheer on our potential profit of £14.85. :) :)

'Helpston', 2nd rated by timeform is a brave shout Bob, I can see the logic in taking on the favourite 'Get It On', (top rated by timeform, running under a penalty for last win and usually needs holding up, won't be suited by Fakenham).
I think Tim Vaughan's 'Bottman' could be the one to spoil the party.
Maybe you should have the whole bank on 'Mush Mir' in the race before, or even the forcast 'Mush Mir' with 'Russian Flag' to come second to him.
Good luck and enjoy your day :)
-
Another non runner Bob Lee!
-
Yes, spoke to the owner it was a late withdrawal due to the going, look out for it on softer going.
Top day at Fakenham spent with some very good friends. :)
-
Let's hope we get a run today, at least our money was safe the last two days.
Barbican 2.45 Newbury our £4.52 should give us a profit of £22.15 :)
-

Good luck Bob.
If you get a result there you could do a lot worse than play your winnings up 15mins later by taking on (lay) the Balydoyle talking horse in the Racing Post Trophy, 3.00pm Doncaster. At 11/8 the unproven 'Camelot' offers no value against others with proven listed/group form. The bet today for me is a lay of 'Camelot'.

We are off to Aintree today, a tricky little race at 2.45 I just make Astracad my bet. Already had a win over fences this season, I am hoping fitness will count. £3.60 will give us a profit of £11.16 :)
-
This one will win Bob!
-
3rd, must of had the same fitness coach as us. :) :) :)
Leicester 3.30 our £2.80 is going on the nose Little Curtsey to give us a small profit of £8.26.
New week, New start I hope :D
-
Good man yourself Bob. Best of luck to ya.
-
Good man yourself Bob. Best of luck to ya.
To be sure I need it ;)
All eyes today are on the 2.30 at Great Yarmouth, a good friend of mine as informed me that Noble Mission is running, Noble Who? you might say. It is only the full brother to the greatest horse of our time, or possibly the greatest horse that has ever raced.Frankel. It is making it's racecourse debut today. I was going to invest our money, when I thought, my brother is great at DIY and I do not know which end of a hammer to hold. So I would be backing a horse on his Brother's reputation, sorry SA.
I have decided to place our £2.34 on England to beat India in the final One day international, I have got 11/8 so giving us a small profit of £3.23. :)
-
Go back to the horses they're more consistant! How the hell did we lose that game with the start we got, it sure beats me. >:(
-

I was counting our money >:(
-
Thanks to our spineless showing in India we have to invest more than our 20% because Betfair will only take a minimum £2 bet.
It is back to the horses today and this one is named after an ex chairman of ours,Simple Jim 2pm at Nottingham. The tissue this morning was 10/1 and steady money has been bet on it all morning, it is now trading at 4/1.
So our £2 bet should show a profit of £8.
Follow the money!!!!
-
Brasingaman Eric 9/2 winner. Are we Brassic now Bob. :D
-
Admire your efforts Bob Lee, but surely a wise man such as you know its only the bookies that win, you don't see many punters in flash cars, just the bookies, I wish you good luck in your ventures to raise money.
-
Brasingaman Eric 9/2 winner. Are we Brassic now Bob. :D
Not yet mate, that is the beauty of only betting 20% of our pot. But we need a winner, come on anyone want to chip in with a fancey? :D
-
Bob take note on Ceamboy advice. Keep clear of bookies , and get a newspaper round it will show a better return.

Now why did you not give me that advice years ago ;D
-
Stick with it Bob! You must be doing well with your betting career!
-
But we need a winner, come on anyone want to chip in with a fancey? :D
How about a 16/1 winner to get us out of a hole?
Apache Kid 8.30 Kempton, never won a race in 9 attempts but will not be far away tonight. 16/1 on the betfair tissue last night. Split your bank and back him win & place.
Good luck ;)
