Title: articles for wider circulation
Post by: Louth Pilgrim on January 31, 2011, 10:15:52 AM
Some folk on here say forget the past. But I like the idea of making sure the that if the national press plan on doing 'plucky non League club' articles, they report the truth.
Here's a good one which perhaps should be circulated wider:

Perhaps we should circulate our own Boston fans press release?

That is an excellent piece. I wouldn't have been able to write something like that without flying into a rage and becoming very biased and vitriolic.

There are a few Boston fans who dislike Evans and sadly they are the minority which are shouting the loudest!
A lot of Boston fans still appreciate what Steve Evans did for Boston United, we was on the verge of oblivion before the saviour arrived, he performed miracles with our little club and that is why he was known by the name ‘Messiah’.
Of course Mr. Evans is like Marmite you either love him or hate him, but his pedigree in management will see him manage a premiership club one day.
Steve Evans brought good times, excitement and got the town of Boston buzzing, this Pilgrim wishes Steve and his Crawley team all the best.

Now that is entertainment. Pass me a snippit like that each match and it be well worth 11 pound even if the team dont turn up it still worth it. Pure entertainment.

Small minority on a large scale

When Evans came to Boston the club were not on the point of oblivion , they were in the red to the tune of £100,000 K  according to reports . When EVANS LEFT THE CLUB WAS ON THE POINT OF OBLIVION being £3.5 millon in debt and its short term reputation in tatters.  What was Evans achievements in this time ?   1.  promotion to the Conference.  2 . promotion to the League 1.  These both have to be discounted as niether were within the rules of the FA OR  HMRC (CHEATING ).
When Evans and his cronies walked out they had effectivly booked us demotion to step 3 of the pyrimid ,  Now can anyone explain how bringing the club into disrepute and at the same time leaving the club 1 step further down the pyrimid at the cost of £3.5 million can be termed a success.

"The sad thing about this whole story," Bean said, "is that at the greatest moment in Boston's history, one man did so much to damage the club's reputation. In everything that went wrong at the club, Steve Evans was the common denominator."

And what are the FA doing about it? Letting him continue! Pity Mr Bean doesn't have the same job now

The sad thing is there are still some, not many but still some that believe that. Was talking to someone today who said they'd have Evans back. They weren't interested in anything I said in how he did it but just said he "got us into the league" and that he's going to do it for Crawley. F*cking short-sighted some people  >:(

A big well done to David Whittle.
Good that The Guardian have seen sense and at least printed David's letter.
I'm not sure what the Trust is up to these days but would Mel or another officer consider penning a general release to the national daily press with the facts before they print more drivle?

It was my letter in the Guardian today, LP. I can't find a link to it, but this is what I sent in:

I am very surprised at the Guardian giving Steve Evans, the Crawley manager, such an easy ride. Most of your readers will recall how he led my club, Boston United, into the Football League only by his dishonesty, for which he was subsequently  banned by the FA and convicted at Southwark Court. Evans and his associates all but ruined  Boston United. They wrecked the reputation of what had been one of the leading non-league clubs and brought it to its knees financially. Had it not been for the efforts of the honest current owners, the club would have ceased to exist. These owners are gradually restoring the club's good name and fortunes. It is laughable for Evans to say that many fans would like him as their club's manager, if typical of his unpleasant ego. This is a man convicted of football-related fraud who should not be let near any self-respecting club. I hope for the sake of Crawley supporters that history does not repeat itself. Whoever said that cheats do not prosper was clearly lying.

They left out the sentences towards the end about his ego and football-related fraud, but at least kept the end itself untouched. I've been firing off emails quite often: 5 Live (Sport on 5, and Claridge and Chapman in particular) has ignored them despite/because of their fawning attitude towards the Corpulent Caledonian in recent weeks. I know some people think we should try and forget about it, but I'm afraid that the sound of Evans being treated as he has been drives me round the bend. The more of us that can pepper the media with similar missives the better.

Maybe a letter from BUSA or a press release from them to the wider media might stir a few from their slumbers?

Excellent piece Oakham Pilgrim. I'm afraid my efforts to enlighten Racing UK and At the Races (where his ego is constantly massaged) continues to fall on deaf ears.

Keep up the good work and let the bastard have it.

Can somebody set up a google bomb?

Why dosen't somebody put all relevent articles together in some web space with all the relevent keywords for google to pick up. Over the next few weeks a lot of people are going to be googling 'EVANS' 'Crawley' etc, would be good if we could get a page at the top of the list containing the truth.

Once set up we can all google the 'key words' to raise it in the listings.

It needs somebody that knows more about search engines than I do thou.
