Title: BUFC v Guiseley
Post by: Bostonshire on January 22, 2011, 05:28:03 PM
A few on here get slammed for there lack of comments when the results are good so let me be there first to praise, The teams performence today i thought was 1000% better than of late. Church got MOM o would have gone for pearson myself. Guiseley looked every part of the team the place in the table. Game of few chance played at some wicked pace all match.

Credit to those from guiseley who came  there a credit to there club, My only thought on the following is for a team that have just come up and are flying again and lets be honest play some fantastic footy there support in numbers is really really poor.

I really dont know why people continue to moan about this. Every team does it, Its part and parcel of football in the modern day. U will get some and you will not but you wont know untill you fall to try.  We got a free kick on 32 min when semple dived despite the fact there was daylight between there legs throu the whole challange

If you can be clever about it, you can free kicks in good positions, nothing wrong with that, unless it is a blatant dive! Maybe we are too honest at times, have we still not been awarded a penalty yet, that could be why?

Maybe semps did it once but their number 10 was rarely off his knees. Guiseley were an impressive team but i just feel they let themselves down a bit with the gamesmanship. It has served them well, numerous penalties etc and bookings for the opposition, but i'm glad it's not an integral part of our game.

I just thought it was a bit embarrassing how they yelped like girls every time there was a strong tackle, that's not very Yorkshireman-esque, is it? But they are a very good passing side, very good indeed. Their no.4 (Peyton??) isn't as good as he thinks he is though.

And I am not a big fan of our Rory Coleman, he is a ball greedy t**t.

Made a big difference today having Pearson at the back and Church in the middle again. Cecil looked out of place in midfield and I was very surprised not to see Sleath starting after his performance last week but he came on and did very well again. Davidson battled well. I think we were more defencive minded than normal but we were up against a very good side. Well done lads. Roll on three points Tue.

Always a tough place to go,i'd have taken a point beforehand. So very happy with a draw.Plus Nuneaton and AFC Telford both drawing a excellent for both of us.Hope we both make the playoffs.
Great commentary= Endeavouronline, fair and unbiased. Many thanks!!

Definately the best footballing, passing side I have seen at YS this season. They closed us down and gave us little room all afternoon. I think at times though they over played it instead of having a go. Thought we looked edgy and it looked like we set up to defencively but it's another point nearer the play offs :)

Ken, I thought you could have got at least 1 shot of James Walshaw rolling about on the ground - he was down enough times!

A few more pics. More when I get home later tonight. I'll see if I can get a nice one of Walshaw - I'm amazed he didn't manage to either win a penalty or get one of our players sent off as he's an expert at it.

think we looked alot better at the back today compared to the last few weeks think it shows we missed pearson's areial ability

on paper we should beat redditch tuesday as they are the poorest team i've seen this season by far and im sureS&H will warn about getting complacent

to be in the play-offs with abit of breathing space even at this stage of the season is a good achivement hopefully we can continue to kick and cement our PO spot then like last season see how things pan out in the games in hand while we hopefully get on abit of run it could be a very interesting 2nd half of the season

Thanks for all the kind comments, you can tell Stalyscum celtic what we are really like after their comments after our 2 games with them and let me apologise on behalf of GAFC Fans for Wallys stupid attempts.

We were shouting get up for most of the match. In fairness to him he usually gets booted a lot as he has way of winding opposition players up (like Dean Windass, Savage etc).

We tried to make some noise in the away end, don't know how much you could hear but there wasn't many of us dissapointingly.

It was a very good game and we should have won (i say should only because we should have stopped your attack straight after the goal).

A fair result in the end and an enjoyable game.

Agree with most comments on here, initially I too thought we where set up defensively with Cecil and Coleman looking like a more defensive option, but it didn't really pan out that way. Thought it was a game of 2 halves, first half we where much the better second half they where. Really pleased with the point in the end with Canners just a passenger in the middle for the last 10-15 mins after getting injured and Churchy dropping back to centre half again.

We where much much improved and passed the ball really well, but whoever said Guiseley where the best passing side to have come here I agree. Was a very good game I enjoyed especially when we equalised went end to end after that seemed more like a cup tie. A draw in the end was a fair result although they may be a tad disappointed as we where hanging on a bit at times.

Edit: Oh yeah forgot about Walshaw, diving f*cker. Don't agree whoever said every team have them, most will do it once in a game I counted at least half a dozen dives. He was the only thing that spoiled what was a very good performance from them, and Yeadon Lion we could hear you fine mate made good noise for such small numbers (not having a go there), although I was sat in the main seated stand so was quite close.

You did make a good bit of noise mate i was sat down in the left hand side of the stand to your right and you guys never stopped singing, very good seen as there was only about 20? 25? of you i was very impressed with your number 4, never stopped running and very strong lad, never moaned when brought down just got up and tried to do the quick free kick

Yesterday was my first game in a while due to other commitments but from the period of 1998-2007 i never missed a home game so im not a part time supporter atall. i sat in the Fantasy Island stand i think it is called now. There was a bloke sat behind me who must have been watching the Wolves vs Liverpool game in the sports bar before hand because he just did not stop moaning at our players the whole game. He was expecting them to do things he had just seen Fernando Torres do, it was utterly abborant the comments he was making.
I had this expirience every week years ago with a few old boys who stood at the half way line at the back of the Spain Road stand. Is there anywhere i can stand/sit now where the fans don't expect the Boston players to produce moments of magic with every touch?

Probably best if you stood in the far right corner of the Spayne Lane terrace, and stand near no-one. But seriously, there does seem to be a strong moaning element at York Street again, we can't win every game. I much prefer away games, where we mostly back our own players.

Ironically I thought he stayed up more in yesterdays match than any of the others we've played against him.

The battle between the two number 4's was worth the entrance fee along, the little digs at each other, consistantly simmering below boiling point, Church deserved his MOM award for not taking it too far alone.  Last year he would have taken the guys head off in the same situation.

We could hear you (just) in the opposite end, but any chance of a bit more variety? Chanting 'Guiseley, Guiseley' all the time must be a tad tedious?

Another thing..... for such a big club and decent side, how can you afford to carry a passenger like Davidson every game?

Suarez has looked better in all 3 games i have seen Boston.

Suarez and Davidson are identical twins who were seperated at birth.  ;D

They are pretty much interchangeable.

I look really fat on that pic haha!

There's hardly any of us :S we had a full bus of 24 so im guessing a few went to other ends....

Personally I thought Davidson did well on Sat and won a fair share of the ball and came closest to breaking the deadlock with a decent snap shot mid way through the first half. Davidson is capable of both the awful and sublime. He also scored 17 goals last season (a fair share with his feet too!) despite only playing 50% of the time.

Davidson on his game is impossible to play against, i'm sure sometimes he tricks himself on what he is doing. I like both him and Suarez, and after 70 mins a swap between them can do the trick. Like we saw at Eastwood for example.
