Post by: Ken Fox on August 04, 2010, 12:19:48 PM: The new season isn't far away now and lots of you seem keen to have another go so it's time to start up the Pilgrims' Patter Prediction League again.

For those who haven't played in previous seasons, it's all about predicting the results and attendances of Boston United's games throughout the season.

All predictions must be made before kick off. (Although I'm open to bribes of a pint of Batemans XXXB or Dark Lord to accept predictions that are a few minutes late. ;D )

You get 3 points for the correct score or 1 point for the correct result.

You get 10 points if you get the attendance spot on or 3 points if within 30 or 1 point if within 60. (I've upped the limits slightly as attendances will probably be slightly higher in the Conference North so you can have a bit more leeway)

Soon after each game I usually manage to process the scores and update the points table and post it on Patter.

As the season goes on you accumulate points and the winner is the person with the most points at the end of the season. There's no entry fee and no prizes apart from the honour of being the winner. It's just a bit of fun! (Though I'll probably pester everyone to sponsor me in the Boston Santa Fun Run in December in appreciation for me doing all the updating)

So to kick things off here's my prediction for the opening match:

Boston United 1-1 Stafford Rangers (1675)

Don't forget to predict both a score and an attendance.

You can edit your prediction right up until kickoff time.

In Cup games with extra time it's the score at the end of normal time that counts.

If a game is postponed or abandoned then all predictions are null and void.

Well done to Wembley 85 for getting the result spot on and the attendance only 26 out so six points picked up. Only three others predicted a 1-0 Boston win, so well done to Pride of Bostonshire, BU on the up and Pilgrim21. The closest to the attendance was Ed Kandi who was just 2 out from picking up the 10 points.

We got caught up in heavy traffic and decided to take a break at Bishop Stortford services...big mistake as the place was gridlocked with a convoy of Limerick tinkers, we rolled into Boston just in time to see everyone leaving.
Don't go near that service station, the place is a nightmare, and, after missing out on the ten points, I've now ordered a tactical nuclear strike to take the place out, tinkers and all ;)
