Our third signing of the summer will be announced on the official site at some point this evening.
Any ideas?
-
David James is available?
-
Gareth Jellyman - great signing.
-
Nope Jellyman...again
-
The jellyman
-
Good defender, but prone to the odd wobble.
-
Can't remember seeing him during his short spells here but with that c.v he's got to be an improvement on Woods.
What I'm desperate to hear is that we've found a new keeper, I'm starting to panic a bit.
-
He might struggle.. with a lot on his plate

I agree that we need a second goalkeeper for the sake of having competition in every position, but it wouldn't worry me if Butcher started the season as first choice. He had a bad game away at Ashton when he first broke into the side, but apart from that he's always done well when called upon. And with the addition of more experience to the defence in the shape of Murphy and Jelleyman, it probably isn't as important to have an older head between the sticks.
Just to throw one other name into the discussion as far as new goalkeepers are concerned, does anyone know what has happened to Simon Rayner since his release from Crawley? When he was on loan at Boston from Torquay I was under the impression that he had family in the Peterborough area and was looking to move back. I always rated Rayner as a goalkeeper and whilst I'm not sure if he'd go part-time or what sort of wages he'd command, he might just be someone who'd fall within our geographical catchment area for new signings. Any views?
-
Is he any relation to Martin Chivers?
-
"Jelleyman's thrown a wobbly" :D
According to Wikipedia - Rayner is without a club.
-
decent signing
never mind a goalkeeper i think were looking short on midfielders myself
-
I played 5 a side in net the other night... where do i sign?
-
Yep decent signing - defence has come together nicely
I feel we need another centre midfielder and a number one goalkeeper
BU on the UP
-
I think Rayner is best known as the goalie who will let one or two comical goals during the season , as he did when on loan to us .

we might have already signed a mid fielder but no one has made much of it,young harry dean great young talent released from the cods back end of last season

Doesn't he play out wide whereassomeone in the engine room is required. If Milly can do it then fine but if not then someone else is needed ahead of a wideman for me

not if davies comes good
-
Didn't particularly rate him last year so would prefer someone else to come in personally.
-
Just to pick up on a few of the topics here.
Can only just remember Jellyman last time due to Ev*ns revolving door policy, so many players coming in and out. Seem to recall him being steady but unspectacular. Had a steady game today.
On GK I'm with LP would be happy to see Butch as No.1 but we do need a second for competition. Adamson looked pretty sound today, couple of punches out the area lacked distance but that apart was solid enough.
Would like to see Milly given a contract as he's done well in the friendlies so far and always gives 100%. Like others on here think we look short centre mid, obviously Sleath and Church to start but if either get injured/suspended/lose form what have we got? An injured Davies or someone playing out of position. Only trouble is Milly + keeper = 21 man squad, that's an awful lot of players to keep happy who aren't playing and a fair few players not even involved in the matchday squad.
-
I wouldn't be offering Milly a contract yet if i were manager. He's had 16/17 months without really kicking a ball in anger. He's looked o.k. in pre season, but he needs competative games.Perhaps 2/3 months in the reserves before a decision is made.
-
id give a contract till jan the 1st and i hope he proves his fitness as the lads had a verr unlucky time and he the sort of lad i think would put hia heart and soul on the line for the team
-
The only thing about Adamson is that he lives in Birmingham
-
As a youngster...

In the past Milly and Davis would have been given comtracts by now. But thankfully these managers do not rush into making bad dicisions . the managers will know the right time to offer them a contract . hope both are 100% fit soon.
-
....and you have seen the Reserves play then to suggest that they cannot put two passes together .....and if you have my friend you must have been watching a different game to me!
Don't insult the young lads we are trying to let play, the idea is to try and bring the odd one or two to the verges of the first team and we have already done that!
Milly needs games like everyone else and sometimes you have to be patient .....I spent 2 seasons sat in the stand when we had a really good side, but I was patient and eventually got in and cemented my place ....perhaps Milly may have to do that! Patience is a virtue and some players walk out on the club thinking that the grass is greener ....and I can tell you it's definitely not!
-
BUFC Pilgrim, whilst I admire your support for Milly,it appears you dont watch to much grass roots football. The Lincs League over the years has had and still does have some quality players in it many who have played in the Amber colours and Boston Towns.
You ever played at that level?
-
Milly played for Grantham against Corby last night.
-
Millson is way too good for Grantham. Davies is one of Scott and Hurst's own players, but have to say I'd be disappointed if we offered him a deal but not Milly.
-
Our Club with a Capital C please Cookie ..!
-
Its all about fitness AH. No use signing players until they are proved fit.
-
I agree GHM - we can't go signing players who aren't fit just because they played well for us a 2 seasons ago and have been products of the youth.
If S&H believe he is good enough and fit enough they will sign him - simple
-
And I agree too. Milly was the best player in what was frankly a poor side two years ago. Now we're in a higher league and he's broken his leg twice.
For sentimental reasons I'd like him to get a new contract but then I don't want my club run on sentimental reasoning. He's got to prove to Scott and Hurst he's good enough and having seen him against Sheffield I'm not sure he is, much as I would like him to be.

Have I missed something? Been away for a few days. Were is bufc pilgrims posts?
-
I'm not really basing my view on sentiment - they're seemingly both pretty broken, but I think Millson is a better player than Davies, let alone when you factor in future potential. Could understand if Davies proves his fitness and Millson doesn't, I was making the assumption of all things being equal (admittedly not really a good one).
