I knew you would be "impressed" by that signing! ;D
It did cross my mind though that we would have to sign another centre half to cover for the suspensions! ;)

Well let's be honest it wouldn't take alot to improve our side based on how we played for the last month or so of the season! :-[

Yep, good signing that Finchley Tiger, the limited amount of games he played in thought he looked pretty decent, shame his injuries sidelined him for most of season, best of luck next season.
-
Might have a team to challenge for next season if they are managed properly as it looks like you are putting together a decent squad finchley.
-
Signed Bettney from Retford too.. I was impressed by him
-
Good luck Mark, thanks for your efforts last season. I hope you have better luck with the injuries next season.
check the grassy knoll

no nonsense style
;D
Is that the end of Retfords rise through the divisions, appears most of their sqaud is on the way out.

It's no secret that they are in financial difficulty and that their players/manager were not being paid at the end of last season.
We were actually in negotiations to groundshare with them starting next season in a deal that would have netted them in the region of £40K over the next two seasons, plus paying to help improve the quality of the pitch this summer. Surprisingly, considering their financial situation, they turned it down. I think it's fair to say their fans are not happy! More details of what we offered are here, but looks a very fair deal to me:

Really good signing, if Cammy stays fit he'll keep things ticking over nicely in the middle of the park for you. A great addition at this level.
-
Just to let you know, because I have enjoyed the banter with you guys this season I've chosen Cammy as the player that I shall sponsor next season!
He had better stay fit now!! ;D

Expecting you to say Chris Wood has signed for you FT.
-
good luck to Cammy as others have said injuries prevented him making more of an impact. Good signing for you FT as is Chris Bettney, he was quality in the game at Cannon Park for Retford against us. Simpkins though :-\ watch your disciplinary record take a turn for the worse.
-
Good luck to Cammy. A good signing for you. As for Simpkin, we have gripes about him because his bullying and vicious tackling could easily have put not just some of our players but others as well out of football. If it wasn't for his nasty temperament he could be a bloody good defender. He's big and strong and virtually won all the balls in the air when he played us so he's very handy but I do think he is his own worst enemy. In a league that had referees who know the rules of football and recognise a foul then he would spend more time watching the game than playing it.

Both Bettney & Simpkins played for us a few years ago in the Conference North. In many ways Bettney was a typical winger back then, he could either be brilliant or you did not know he was playing. Hopefully, his better days outweigh his bad days for us. As for Simpkins, we need a "big powerful bully" at the back, however, I believe he left the club last time because of his disciplinary record (which not surprisingly was not good!!) so lets wait and see!!
Apparantly there are more signings (and departures) expected to be announced this week. Woody has been rumoured, not sure if that is because he is a local lad though.
-
Woody would be a good signing for Worksop. He has had his detractors, and maybe Unibond is his level,as some have suggested, but as i said on another thread, the managers thought enough of him to start him in 34 out of 38 league games,so they must have believed in him enough at Unibond level.
