Title: Today's Target's letters page
Post by: noughtyforties on May 12, 2010, 08:49:15 PM
Be thankful there's a club left to support, making demands of Dave Newton is bang out of order. If it hadn't been for him and Neil there'd be a pile of bricks on York St now and a week last Saturday wouldn't have happened.

If it's the same letter that's in the Standard,it's saying that the Town End should be for the home fans every week.

Good job I'll never be rich enough to buy Boston United.

I'd bulldoze that fcuking stand out of spite.... and to stop the bloody whining.

My feelings entirely.I can't see we're likely to hand it over to away fans any more than we did this season i.e once. It's not as if we ever fill it anyway.

Sad that somebody could moan about a stand when there are more important problems in the world to worry about!

Exactly right - some people's priorities are a little of out whack,

but as i have said before, Donny in the year we were promoted from the Conference brought at least double what anyone else will bring in this league and were put in the YS stand without problems, so why not Telford?

A 3 sided ground is a bit drastic......

I'd shut the stand and cite stewarding costs as the reason, that'd really piss on their chips!!!!! :D :D :D

I sit in the main stand so not really fussed if the Town End is for home or away fans but

To say bulldoze it down or close it off to piss "them" off. "They" are Boston fans, so I cannot understand some peoples hostility towards a large section of our support. FFS we all want the same thing, a successful club  >:(

Some people on here need a lot of salt and vinegar...

The best atmosphere at home games is created in the Town End. Would you like it to go back being a library like it was in the last couple of Football League seasons?

As usual, a personal gripe rules the keyboard...
Title: Re: Today's Target's letters page

The Town end is a factory that produces a fair number moaning arses who need to get a grip and show David Newton a bit more appreciation, respect and understanding.

It is absolutely staggering that, barely a week after promotion, a letter like that has landed on the desk of our local rags.

Well I'm sure it was the self same fans who create 'the best atmosphere' who were also part of the 'library' during the Football League days....... so whats changed, apart from where they stand? Why, if they wanted to be behind a goal did they not go up the York St end and make some noise?

Or would it be cynical to suggest that end's not next to the visiting fans.......

Neither the York Street end or Spayne Road are anywhere near as good as the Town End for creating noise, even with little numbers. FYI I've watched games for considerable periods in all 4 stands, and feel most comfortable in the Town End, mainly because of the great view.

I think it's fair to say there are moaning cnuts in all parts of the ground, just sit in the main stand for a game if you don't believe me  ;)

There are plenty of people who whinge about prices, not spending enough on players etc. etc. as I say from every side of the ground. Why single a whole section of the fans based on 1 letter to a third rate paper ???

Afraid so, Rob Scott has had several altercations  ;) with some of the worse culprits. Geeze some where still moaning and groaning around me against FCUM and again against NFU in the play-offs after the season we'd had. No pleasing some folk.

So, you agree with the letter writer, tash? In which case, be offended if you like.

Or, you don't, and realise that Mr Newton has more pressing concerns than placating a whiny, vocal minority of fans bleating because they are asked to vacate a stand once a season. In which case, I am at a loss as to why you are offended.

For your information  I havn't seen the letter I am responding to your comments about a fair number of  townenders being moaning arses. I have supported BUFC for more years than I care to remember, I am a season ticket holder and have been in the Alphabet lotto and now the super draw so please don't question my commitment to the club and in particular David & Neil for all they have done for us. The trouble with keyboard warriors is they usually engage keyboard before brain, just ask your old mate Santa.

Is anyone going to post this piece of groundbreaking journalism on here for us to see ?

It's irrelevant where supporters stand, so long as you turn up and pay, cheer the lads on. Whether your support is 1 or 100 decibles loud is also irrelevant. So long as your support has a positive message, the players will react in a positive way on the pitch in theory. However if all you shout is negative and counter productive comments towards the players and staff, this is going to effect them in doing their jobs. If we were to drag these so called fans and sit them in the dressing room and let them be on the recieving end of these pathetic rants, I think they'd be rather upset themselves. Moaners are in ALL the areas of the ground, not just the town end.
Pete - for you to label the town end as a factory for moaners is just rediculous, theres some bloody good loyal fans in there who support the team in a fantastic manor. Dont label people all the same.
Where ever people watch the game from, please just engage your brain before shouting whatever it is your bout to say. Your comments can have a serious inpact on the players and staff at the club.

Tash and Bostonshire,

Unfortunately you are both spectacularly missing the point. More so you, Tash, because you seem to think I am ‘questioning your commitment to the club’ before reeling off your supporter’s CV. Good for you mate, it’s really impressive. Although it’s completely irrelevant as I’m not directing my comments at you personally, so I’m not sure why you’ve posted it on here. Unless you wrote that letter, in which case I am directing my comments at you - with bells on.

We are not talking about people moaning about the team, or the managers or general groaning during the match. These people are all over the ground on a match day. We are talking about a few people – and no, no-one is suggesting absolutely everyone who stands on the Townend whines about switching it to away fans - who are inexplicably obsessed with this bloody terrace and who moan at David Newton because they have to spend one afternoon (or maybe two or three depending on cups) A SEASON stood in a slightly different spot at York Street.

Boo bloody hoo. My heart bleeds for you, chaps, it really does.

Where’s the sense of perspective?? Here’s a thought. Before people start writing letters to the local paper having a pop at the club, or piping up at fans’ forums with the same old gripes, ignoring all the progress that has been made, why don’t they actually begin to appreciate what they have: a stable club, a chairman and tea-making lackey committed to restoring the name and reputation of Boston United, fantastic managers, a young, hungry team and some actual silverware in the trophy cabinet – and stuff we didn’t need to cheat the taxman to secure either.

It is incomprehensible that after the season we’ve just had, someone would sit down and write a letter to the paper bleating about the Townend issue yet again, as if Newton wasn’t already painfully aware there is a contingent of ungrateful knobbers waiting in the wings to have a moan…

Not only a keyboard warrior a bloody patronising one grow up a bit mate. All I am saying is you have no right to call any one who stands in a particular part of the ground total arses just because they don't agree with you. As I said I don't know what the letter said and I don't really care you will always get the odd dissenter. I Doubt that the Chairman will  be overly worried by one letter, after all this is still a free country isn't it???????????  We will just have to agree to disagree on a point of order.

As I see it Pete B has not called anyone in particular, and certainly not everyone who stands or sits in any particular place, any type of good or bad supporter. He is simply pointing out that there are a few in each and every part of the ground who will complain, no matter how good or bad the situation.

Anyone taking exception to that point of view must by definition be associating themselves with that minority. If it's you, then the observation is well directed; if not, why is anyone getting upset?

Time to give it a rest guys. Let's enjoy a closed season of triumph and fraternity, before the coming times of trials and tribulation, and hopefully, joy.

Oh FFS.

There are moaning gits all over he ground, actually also at every other ground in the land, so that's a non point.  The issue that has been raised is that some tool feels annoyed that they have to move (potentially ONCE A SEASON) to a different spot in the ground.  So annoyed in fact they send a letter to the local rag - which probably gets less readers than this place - complaining about the fact to the Chairman who, along with many many others behind the scenes, has done nothing but work tirelessly for the benefit of all supporters.

Quite simply whoever this person is needs to have a word with the Kings Lynn fan who pops on here from time to time and really find out what there is to moan about.

No I'm sure the Chairman is not fussed but the fact a single person thinks this but is it not mind boggling to the rest of us?

Agree with you MNH and yet the smaller the problem the more important it becomes to some.

My feeling is that there are more important things to maon about in the world but then again i can't see why we do have to hand over the town end in any event.  Not one team in this league will bring sufficient fans to warrant it - Telford will bring 300 probably and so can easily be accomodated in the YS stand.

I feel it is a moot point probably born out of post season pre world cup boredom on a saturday afternoon

I think we have still got a football lge ground grading so we have to vacate that stand when the safety people say so which, most of us don't have a problem with.
