It has been rumoured that Paul Bastock may be signing for us, anyone know if this is true?
-
Can,t see it happening .
-
Would be nice to have him back,
Can he still cut it though?
-
played 41 games for St Albans in Blue Square South
-
Great player of the past but let's move on - it's a no from me
-
Must be in his 40's now!
I suppose he could come back as goalkeeping coach and be registered in case of an emergency. If it was my club I would say as first choice, no ...... I would echo Cardiff Pilgrims comment.

It's his 40th birthday on 19th May. 8)

He's been playing exceedingly well at St Albans (reading NLP reports each week) at the level we're going into, so as a stop-gap for a season, I wouldn't mind him playing for us again.
-
Bazza was a great keeper-but no,not for me-lets move on.
-
I thought he would move to lower league as player manager ie Boston Town :o
-
Bazza and Butcher combination might work as I would like to see Butcher get a few games to see if he is good enough.
But generally I would say no and hope they can find a eager beaver to match the players of last year.

Check it isn't a fake birth certificate, he's been playing forever!! ;D

Personally from thee little I saw of Butcher last season he should be given a go as No. 1. If he isn't considered as first choice keeper can't see him sticking around as a bench warmer again and wouldn't blame him. IMO if we do get a new number 1 don't be surprised if we're looking for a number 2 as well - not shirt number 2 for all you pedants out there.
-
I would much prefer Butcher being given the No1 shirt as he is still young enough to improve and if he has a good season for us then if a league club showed any interest then, given his young age, we should be able to command a decent fee for him.
Also it's probably a lot more cost effective then constantly bringing in a veteran keeper for 1 season then replacing him with another veteran keeper and so on.
-
I'm not normally one for bringing back players once they've left but I think bazza would be a clever signing. He's reliable, proved last season he's still good enough and I would of thought quite cheap, and I'm sure he'd be a good influence on butchers career.

Notts County have released two keepers, Russell Hoult and Kevin Pilkington. Not sure of their ages but i'd say probably well in their 30's.

Isn't Kasper Schmeichel on his way out of Meadow Lane as well?
-
Yes, he was reportedly on a lot of money, i did read he was on something like £10,000 a week!! Not bad if you can get it. ;)

Bazza will not come back to Boston, FACT. :-X
-
I'd say they have someone lined up already, lets wait and see.
Anyone else find this time of the year frustrating? We've had a brill season and already looking forward to next season. Now we have the 'who's coming in' scenario, if you're anything like me i sift through players released and see if i can spot anyone that could be a likely candidate. I'm pleased i'm not a betting man, i'd of won bugger all in all the years i've been doing it! ;D
