correct me if im wrong but as i remember we hardly conceded many when he played for us in the league. when absent we leaked goals and lost loads.

If that is correct then well done to H&S. He was quality when we played in the league and I for one am getting more and more optimistic about the new season.

Lee Canoville was QUALITY for us!!!!!!!
He was one of the not so hoof ball full backs we had....
Unlike Austin McCann

if this is true does that mean Jamie Stevens will be out of the equation or will will still sign JS and play Canoville further forward (a position he can play).

If LC is half the player he was we've got a good'un there.

the bit about jamie stevens ? , is that too says theirs been contact between him and H&S from what you know or just speculation ?

Is Jamie Stevens definitely going to sign for us then? If so that could/would be the icing on the cake. He always looked class when he was here before, i hope to see him in a Black and Amber shirt this coming season.  :)

check the grassy knoll

Without wishing to pour cold water on this idea I wonder how fit he is after a bad injury when he was at Notts County.Last season he was at Brackley Town,Halesowen, and Gainsbro' and wasn't that long at any of them. That said if fit he would be an asset.Still no official word though.

Also where does he live, those places are a long way apart for a part-time player to travel to?

Canoville was a bit of a favourite of mine. I hope that he can get back to the level he was.
Out of interest what do you think that our best back 4 lineup has been in recent years?
I would suggest Canoville, White, Ellender, McCann

McCann????????

Possibly the worst left back we have had in the last 30 years, save for Liam Green!!!!!!!!!

What about Arthur Mann, Chris Withe, David Vaughan, Lee Beevers, Lennie Curtis, Ben chapman et al? McCann wasn't good enough to lace the boots of any of 'em.

I take your point , indeed individually the players you've listed were all at least as good as McCann, some definitely better. I meant the back 4 as a unit that actually played together though.

Ben Chapman from which season? the one where he was superb or the one where away at Donnie he had the piss taken outta him for 90 minutes and we got hammered?

I think LC would be a bloody great signing. I think he was probably one of our best defenders in league 2, if not THE best. Get him on board as soon as poss.

Don,t think last seasons record will impress S&H. More likely to sign Curtis Shaw from Mansfield.
