My first thoughts exactly Mr Shuffle. We don't really hold grudges do we?

How long ago was it?

Tough, but winnable, they're not exactly taking the BSP by storm.

Didn't we win away there in a cup a few seasons back?

Beaten them twice in the FA Cup:

Southport 0-2 Boston United 11/10/2008 (http://www.bufc.drfox.org.uk/N111008.html)

Southport 0-2 Boston United 21/11/1970 (http://www.bufc.drfox.org.uk/C211170.html)

A special train to take fans from Boston to Southport was arranged and it was a most enjoyable day out.

I've a copy of The Standard from the week after, there's some cracking photo's of all the Boston fans, old Paul Richmond who helps out with BUSA gave it me, he's in one picture as a teenager........I'm sure he'd thank me for posting the pictures!

Southport is Mersey by police and rail..but  isn't really Merseyside .
Home to many footy players ..ex players , current managers and other sportsmen and women , birthplace of Sir Anthony Quinn ..Mark Almond and Lee Mack amongst others , it contains a strong faction wishing to keep the Town Lancashire .

Hi Boston fans.

I am very much looking forward to the game & any (good natured) banter we can get going in the mean time!

I too remember "the" drop ball incident, I couldn't make that game but listened on the radio & was shocked at what we did! I remember thinking "I bet the Boston fans are going f*****g mental!"

Our form in the league is very up & down, but we are (at times) playing some very nice & effective football, an ethos brought in by the new manager. We totally outplay teams like Luton, Cambridge & (for the 1st half) Leyton Orient, but then lose our guts/grit & lose 3-0 to a very poor Hereford. Who knows what we'll be like come the 30th. I think we rely heavily on key players (Ellington, Ledsham, Hurst), so if they're fit I fancy us.

We (Southport as a town) are famous for a number of vague honours such as having the 2nd longest pier in the UK, & I for one consider Southport as part of Lancashire despite the scousers getting the borders moved for their own benefit in '71.

Nearer the time I'll bung up a go to guide for you lot on match day.

May have the second longest pier does it reach any water even when the tides in. I remember thinking you had to catch a bus from the seafront to the sea, it was a hell of a long walk. Great Victorian shopping fronts on what I think was Lords Walk/Road.

It is rare that the tide reaches the ridiculously expensive sea wall & there is now a bus (well a tram) that goes from the prom' to the end of the pier! There is a bit of money being spent on town, inc Lord Street.

Aah Lord Street, that's it. Got a pair of shoes their abot 10 years ago, still giving good service. Visited Martin Meere but didn't go in 'cos I thought it was very expensive for the few hours I had spare.
