Always had a good game against us lets hope he can do the same for us

Very good signing!
-
great signing!

Ooopps I seem to have gone to the wrong forum, thought this was the BUFC one but it can't be cos everyone happy with a signing :dan
-
Anybody who hasn't played for dreary is a good signing!
Happy days at York street!
-
Only an idiot wouldnt be haappy with this signing
-
The lad can play. Well done DG. :)

Waiting for Shauneyg and ALG to confirm that!
-
Nice for us to actually sign a player from a club in the same league we play in - that doesn't seemed to have happened much for the past couple of seasons!
Will be interesting to see Greene's signings if he's around next season, with one or two notable exceptions generally signings under JL and Drury were not very inspiring.
-
Rumours abound that DG has ordered a new comfy chair in Boston for next season? :dan

Who??? lol

Could be a great signing!

I think it's a great signing, but from Mills perspetive especilly I cant really see the point of moving, especially with so few games left..unless of course he kns something about next season that none of us do!
Where does the lad live by the way, anyone know?
-
I understand Mills is based in Leicester, top notch signing just the sort of player we should be attracting here. More signings of this calibre in the summer and we can really look forward to next signing.

I don't know whether Greg Mills lives in Leicester or not. SWD certainly does live here and obviously played his part in Mills signing. I'd assumed they knew each other from playing together at Telford and not necessarily that there was a Leicester connection as well.
One comment I will make is that Worcester City's catchment for attracting players is probably a much bigger area than most people would expect. Ryan Clarke played for Worcester for two or three seasons despite being based in Sleaford, for example.
Additionally, when we played Worcester at York Street in October, I stayed behind in Boston for a little while after the game and drove back to Leicester a bit later that evening. I caught up with the Worcester City team bus as it pulled into Melton Mowbray, and saw it drop off a couple of players in Melton. I assumed they were transferring to a car parked somewhere nearby to complete the last leg of their journey home (though they might just have been buying pork pies). Melton is probably 1¾ hours drive time short of Worcester, so those players certainly weren't being picked up and dropped off anywhere near to their club. From the drop-off point they were probably heading for Nottingham, Loughborough or surrounding areas. (I don't know if Mills was one of the players that got off the coach in Melton, but knowing what I know now I'd guess that he might have been).
Previous Boston managers have made excuses about players not wanting to come to Boston because of its isolated location. I know for example Drury made that case when he tried to sign Derby-based ex-Corby midfielder James Ozmen. But when you look at other clubs signing players from further afield then you have to question (a) the extent to which previous managers have successfully sold our club to prospective new signings, and (b) the desire that those transfer targets have to play for Boston United in the first place. Our facilities and level of support are still the envy of most clubs in non-league football and should be sufficient to make players want to come a few additional miles.
I'm not sure why Mills fell out of favour at Worcester recently. I remember him as a good player - particularly at Telford - and think he'll be a good signing. I certainly didn't see anything any better in the Worcester line-up at St Georges Lane recently.
-
Who??? lol
Never heard of him so can't comment.
Anyroad, as i've stated countless times for the hard-of-understanding, i've been around and looking in for years.
Waht happened to Colin Woodcock, was it?

You could use the example of Ian Ross in that though, was truly, truely lost under Drury, has put in some sterling displays under Greene. If you watched him under Drury you wouldn't want him, but he might be better in a different system. That happens a lot in football. Remember this lad from his Telford days and generally if you remember him thats enough to say he was good. But Holsgrove was a match winner against us many a time, so not a safe benchmark

It's Simples really. Players will perform better for a manager they respect and who respects them. GD was clearly not respected by a majority of the players because he had no or little respect for them. He thought he knew what he was doing but performances proved different. I think thats why players rejected this club, not because of it's location but because of the manager. Things will change now, for the better.

And it would certainly help if we could sign 2 or 3 players from the same area. When driving to Boston a couple of years ago I would often see a car with all the Loughborough based players in it and one with the Rotherham based players in it. If they have someone to share the fuel costs and driving duties with, it's not so bad for players to travel a bit further. No doubt all that time spent together in the car also helped with the team spirit as well.
Maybe Leicester can be one of the areas we look for new players - isn't Milnes from Leicester as well?
-
Greg Mills played today. They took him of, Not impressed at all. Even as we won 4 2 i didnt think we got out of first gear. After the fist minute goal it was all to easy, could really have been 8 0. We just didnt seem to be able to pass the ball accurately as is mostly the case. Long way to go to see a half hearted display. Well at least we won and not to bad returning in the car. You know what i mean when we loose its deadly silent and you cant get home quick enough

Another signing and an instant moan, For goodness sake give the lad a chance to settle in, it was obvious he needs a few games to get used to the lads around him and at times early on was wondering all over the place, Yes he missed a few good chances but he didn't let that trouble him and his part in the build up to Newshams goal was brilliant, incidentaly others missed easier opportunities. It is clear we still need a few more players to challenge next season but the style of football the manager is striving for deserves our full support.

(SCOT)
I dont think you were there, did MILLS not play a full game?
I thought he played well,
I look forward to seeing him again.
I did think MILLS and our full back link well together as the game went on.
-
I don't know what game you was watching!!!! I know we was only playing hinckley but we kept the possession well and the chances created were brilliant and of course the goals were very good to, particularly the 3rd one the passing move for that was fantastic so I don't know how you can say we didn't pass well! We did conceed 2 sloppy goals, one being a deflection. And yes we should have scored more. The new signing is looking very promising. It's just what we have needed for a long time, a winger who goes down the line takes his man on with a bit of skill and puts a brilliant delivery into the box wich Mills did all game. Yes he should have scored a couple of goals but at the end of the day it's his first game in this team, the team performance was good. There's always someone that has to have a go and be negative! Give mills a chance the team display was promising and onwards and upwards to Monday! UP THE PILGRIMS!

Look forward to seeing Greg in action tomorrow.
Hopefully he will settle in and get off to a good start in front of a big crowd.
If he doesn't he'll probably get abuse from the usual suspects who've been waiting for a target since Semps left ???
-
He did alright on Satdee, wingers won't be 100% efficient at this level, he'll have games were nothing goes for him. Liked how he kept swapping with SWD, switching sides at will to mix it up a bit.

Agreed

I thought Greg looked lively in patches today just a little short of match sharpness. Looks a real prospect.

Agree Shauney , by the way is it true GD has retired from football management ?
-
Hahaha. I'm not sure on that one. We looked good in patches today just feel we lacking that bit of quality to be challenging at the top so hopefully greene can sort that in the summer. Mills looks a promising signing.
