maybe hobnale boots, but so far they have played 11 games in league won 10, drawn 1. We will need to be at our best!

Finances may dictate otherwise. Isn't that six Saturdays in a row that we are at home???

Christmas is expensive and is only a few weeks away.

There's a blast from the past!

Skelmersdale United were the last side to beat Boston United before they went on their run of 51 league games unbeaten in the 70s. And the sequence was ended by another defeat by Skelmersdale!

Not played them since 1976 though and at York Street Boston have won all five previous encounters.

Maybe if the directors reduced the high admission price by £2-00 to all who pay to see the match, they would maybe get more people through the turnstiles,  Hang on a sec!!, I can hear the happy clappers saying the club cannot afford to do such a decent thing because there hard up, well so are the fans in these present times.

A reduction of £2 is not enough in my opinion. These cup games should be £10 maximum for adults.

And on this topic, season ticket holders were able to get a reduction for last Saturday's game but had to visit the club office between Monday and Friday and produce a voucher from the season ticket book. This doesn't work well for those of us that live over an hour away from Boston. I don't understand why such a scheme can't be made available on matchdays.

Hi Guys

Skem supporter comes in peace.  IT is Skelmersdale United and not Skelmsdale

Dont know how many Colwyn Bay brought but would expect over 100 making the journey from "hobnale boots mining side from lancs"

Think you might be suprised at the team, not cloggers. You should be favourites but we have beaten you before and at the moment fear no one.

Dont count your chickens. Barrow did a few years ago and very nearly came unstuck.

We could have met earlier in the season...We were somewhat comprehensivly beaten by Tadcaster in FA Cup....dont ask !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See you there and make sure there are plenty of pies and even more beer..
We are a very friendly lot

Reduce by £2. You seem to forget its only partly up to bufc, price has to be agreed and what ever the price there will still be well over 500 so you can sure as hell bet skelms will not agree. And why should they.

Nice to hear from the opposition as always. Colwyn brought <20, if you manage a 3 figure support that will be very impressive considering your level and average home support.

With regards your team, we're not all under the impression you're cloggers, having read the report here (http://wherestheteahut.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/tadcaster-albion-4-skelmersdale-united-1.html) it seems you have a reputation for playing good football so should be a good game. We can ask for no more than a home tie against opposition from a lower league but we'll not underestimate you that's for sure.

Us Lincolnshire folk do struggle with long words. But I know exactly who you are. I often watch that TV programme about you - normally at 7pm on a Tuesday and Thursday on ITV1.

Love the J Morley advert: "Sports, Fishing, Guns".

No wonder JJB went into administration: they should have stocked a load of firearms too.

Interesting quote here from the Skelmersdale manager about his priorities for the season:

http://www.osadvertiser.co.uk/west-lancashire-sport/west-lancashire-district-football/2012/11/15/80904-32231813/

Quote
"We are not even going there," said Lawson, when asked for his thoughts on the Trophy draw."

On that basis I'm looking forward to a one-sided game.

Just a quick help from you

What time does your clubhouse open ?
Expect to be down there around 1pm. Any pubs near to the ground that you could recomend if the clubhouse is not open.
We have already sold out a 50 seater coach and half a coach with the players, some are expected to travel by car, so we should have a good following.

Is the ground segregated ?  where do the away supporters stand ?  and do you have over officious stewards.

We are hoping for a good day out regardless of the result, we are a friendly bunch but very passionate

you are obviously firm favourites but you never know !

Look forward to meeting you all for a good crack

PS I will be the one wearing the flat cap.

The bar will be open by 1pm, if you want to go somewhere else first then try the Ship Tavern, a Batemans pub in the town centre which is a 5 minute walk from the ground . It will be segregated, and the approval rating of our stewards tends to correlate strongly with the result a team comes away with.

You could try the Eagle where there is no segregation and no Batemans, so it could be a more favourable outcome for the discerning punter  :o
Just walk towards the station  :dan

Oh dear, now the Skelmersdale manager thinks your comments were off our OWS according to the Skelmersdale Advertiser , the internet is great at Chinese whispers !  :

Skelmersdale United boss Tommy Lawson believes his side can upset the odds when they face Boston United in the FA Trophy

Nov 22 2012 by Neil Jones, Skelmersdale Advertiser

TOMMY LAWSON says Skelmersdale United will strive to enjoy their big FA Trophy date at Boston United this weekend – and believes his high-fliers can pull off an upset.

Skem will travel to Lincolnshire buoyed by their terrific start to the campaign. Their 3-2 win over Salford City on Tuesday night extended their unbeaten league run to 13 games.

And Lawson says the Evo-Stik League First Division North side will fear nothing when they come up against the Blue Square North Division outfit on Saturday.

He said: “It’s a great game for our lads. We are determined to enjoy the occasion, enjoy the game, and if we play like we have been then why can’t we spring a surprise. They sent their representatives to watch us against Salford on Saturday, and I guarantee they will be treating us with respect having seen us.

“Their club website described us ‘another little mining town’, so the fans that travel down there will be going with flat caps and miners’ hats, and having a bit of fun with that. It should be a great day.”

Lawson’s men moved to within six points of league leaders Mossley with victory over Salford on Tuesday, and have the luxury of five games in hand on their rivals.

Lawson said: “It was a great response from the lads from 2-0 down, and we celebrated the win collectively. It is one of those games you look back on and feel could be very important come the end of the season.”

The game saw the return of midfielder Aaron Turner, who has been out for the best part of 18 months with a serious knee injury, having left the club for Southport.

“His return has given everyone a lift,” said Lawson.
