Title: Carl Piergianni Appreciation Thing
Post by: Pete Brooksbank on May 06, 2016, 01:50:03 PM
I think we can all agree he has been an absolutely outstanding player for the Pilgrims, certainly one of our very best central defenders. Absolutely gutted he's played his last game at York Street for us - here's hoping he can sign off with us being promoted.

All the best on yer travels, Pidge  :(

Agree. Would he not stay if we were promoted?

Apparently not - he's got tickets booked and is definitely jetting away for a year off.

Selfish fecker!

He confirmed it himself on Instagram:

"was gutted to have to come off in my last ever home game for Boston but overall I couldn't have asked for a better night, loved playing with my team mates over the last few years ❤️ hopefully we can go on to win the playoffs now before traveling begins!🌏"

Bah.

The players should all wear head bandages in a game as a mark of respect.

The supporters could all wear head bandages!    ;D

Only managed to catch the last couple of minutes of Radio Lincs sports program tonight but John Blackwell predicted Pidge to score the pilgrims goal in a 1-1 draw on Sunday. Does this mean he will be fit to play?  UTP.

Listened to it all, Den confirmed its up to Pidge. If he says he is ok then he will be selected. So he is playing then :)

Not sure Danny Rowe thinks any bugger would take him on judging by his post on there!
The sane striker who couldn't score past us when his teammates racked up eight

He's been a massively important player for us and will be a big loss next season, whichever league we're playing in.

Can we retain his playing registration? Assuming he stays in some sort of shape during his travels, doesn't drink too many Castlemaine XXXX and doesn't eat too many kangaroo burgers, he'll presumably return to the game on his return. Hopefully the door will remain open for him at Boston?

Registrations are per season, so he'd have to re-sign.

He said "last ever game". I'd love him back, but even after a year out eating pad thai and, errrr.... kangaroo burgers, I imagine we'd face some stiff competition for his sig.

I watched Grimsby beaten at home by Braintree Town the other night on BT sport.
Ex BUFC Shaun Pearson was bench warming for Grimsby Town so maybe we could get him back for a year as a temporary Pidge  :dan

It will be very big shoes to fill as Pidge is the best at timing and winning headers at both ends of the pitch I think I have seen at this level and probably up to league 2 level.
Wish him well shame he cant reconsider as Pidge and Browny are forming a great partnership and when we go up they would be very hard to break down.
Shame...
Pidge wish you well.

Indeed, massive boots to fill, and yes, a great partnership forming with Nat Brown. These things happen though, so we've got to suck it up. However pulls that shirt on next year has a huge mountain to climb, as inevitably the comparisons will be...Pidge would have got to that or Pidge would have cleared that, etc, etc. He's a massive talent at this level, and we've been a lucky club to have him here. Good luck to him, whatever his future holds.

Glanced at the NF website this morning and cringed when I saw the words 'Crunchtime'.

Wholeheartedly agree with everything that's been said on here, but can't help remembering similar emotions when Sean Pearson or Ricky Miller left. Life goes on, and dare I say it????

                                                               Trust in Den

(Sits back and waits for the howls of derision)

Determined and brave, will be a big miss next season at both ends of the pitch. Good luck to him in AUS.

Pidge has signed for South Melbourne FC. Might involve some nicer away days than Ferriby...

South Melbourne have tried to sign Didier Drigba but it's fallen through. What a pity. He could have learnt a lot from playing alongside Piergianni.
