Title: Signings
Post by: dt woodhall on May 24, 2012, 11:41:43 AM
Apart from those from last year, some of which are encouraging, so far we have only signed a goalkeeper who has already played for us before.

Lots of players are signing for other clubs, and I know its a long time to the start of the new season, but come on Jason, I want to buy a season ticket, but what encoragement is there at present for me to get one.

We want to see new blood coming into the club. So far virtual silence. Whats going on???

DTW raises a very valid point. Football is all about entertainment and success.  Fans are discerning with what they do with their money these days.  If you are that mad about supporting BUFC make a donation or go on some sponsored thingy.

In the meantime it is for the club to attract last season's season ticket holders to renew (not easy after all that dross) and a few signings would help.

I think you'll find, Nobby Know All, that only applies in the Premier lge. Clubs at our level rely on supporters (notice I don't use the word fans) to buy season tickets to allow them to compete for players signatures. The club have not touted for season ticket sales on this forum so, I would suggest any one who has a problem with the lack of transfer activity should contact the Manager personally and ask him why there are so few signings. Scouse you do know who the manager is don't you? That will be the other one you were cosying up to in that big hotel.

Guiseley ?    Now there is a forum would would enjoy dt , moan after moan because the fans claim the two best players have been released + looks like walshaw will leave , you would love it on that forum .
Can you list the signings made by our main rivals ?

To put it in prespective dt you would have been excited about you clubs signing this time
last season if you had been a follower of Kettering or Darlington .

Just using his tactics Daniel (see some of Cookies previous posts). As far as I'm concerned he is fair game.

Agree DT! Nothing has happened to encourage us to buy! Looks like I could be choosing my games next season.

what a load of nonsense. I am only asking the question about signings and bb1 you are a proverbial pain-- this is a forum for fans to express their views.

Remember a player called church dt how late in the season did he sign????and he had never been here before .Contrast it with the rushed signing of JJ who was not deemed good enough for Quorn  did you kick up as much fuss on this forum then.As for Scousepilgrim pray tell when was the last time you saw a match at York street.?how much have you contributed in actual cash in say the last three years?or could it be that you are just a s--t stirrer.Football is about entertainment and the anticipation of will we won't we win.A serious point is when a long term supporter misses a season they are unlikely to return as they get out of making the effort. So DT if you don't get a s/t what will you do with the £8 and few pence a week?  ???  :'(

I want to get a season ticket, but so far there is very little incentive and I need to be convinced that Jason will bring in better players than he did last year.

Re Church -- I think he played at least once as  ' A Trialist' probably against Lincoln in a pre season friendly but Scotty wanted to keep it quiet to avoid others knowing he would be available from Ilkeston.

I was there bbi, as a true supporter even at the pre season game --were you??

Anybody else remember if Churchy played in that game?

Have been to many a friendly when it is possible dt . When you get a group of people watching a footy match this in turn can become a crowd, the said crowd creates an atmosphere which in turn if good can lift the supported playing squad especially at home encouraging wins and supporters to return. This can have a reverse effect if just 3 or 4 supporters decide to stay away, then their mates and your looking at a club on the skids. What business is it of mine what you do,i like the large crowd at YS giving a better chance of conference prem return not as lucky as you who have seen it all before. As for Nf he don.t make sense he seems to have given the cash he made off selling spare programmes to the club then slates it. This years squad were nearly there last season IMO lost by the odd goal. Get a ball winner combined distributor in mid field a seasoned defender and we are going to be hard to beat better goalie  The topic of buying a season ticket for me is thoroughly exhausted. ;D ;D ;D

dt woodall, Forgive me if I'm wrong, but my old brain seems to remember that Church was suspended for about 4 games at the start of his career with BUFC, I think that came about in the play-offs with Ilkeston, cannot recall who he thumped in the opposing team though,  I've made my mind up dt, a season ticket is a definite no with me this season, I'm going to pay what Gainsboro fans pay, £90-00 for seniors, that should be our price also, So if I pick and choose 10 matches I can get through the season for £90-00, that is £45 cheaper , all night matches are mostly poor games anyway, wonder what shite I'll shall get back from the happy clappers now.

Good post ceamboy!I think I will be doing the same.Looks like I could miss 2/3 due to having 4 weeks in the states next year.Hopefully I should get a few premiership games in next year.

Logical thing to do seeing that you miss a few matches in a season ceamboy

Until I read KON post I did not realise Lincs League had got a premier division !!!!!

GHM the lincs league is going to be known as the Pub League. About time we ditched the pub team and concentrated on the youth.Get them loaned out to UCL teams instead of pub football.

I prefer the night games, something about the games under lights and the baltic conditions makes it all a bit more earthy.

Morning all. I know it's been quiet on the transfer front so far but I'm very pleased to see that a lot of the players offered new contracts have signed up and I'd like to think the rest will. Pleased to see that Dan Haystead will be in a Boston shirt again. With regards to new signings; I have faith in JL and all this talk of 'no contacts' makes me laugh. I personally don't mind whether they have played for us before or not; as long as they are good enough and want to be here that's fine in my book. I'd rather take a positive approach (or happy clapping  ;D) to rebuilding and looking forward to the next season; yes things have been a bit slow so far but I'd like to think Jason has already made contact with any potentials he's got in mind... Onwards and hopefully upwards...

It's sod's law that one of the i'm gonna not gonna will decide  buy a season ticket last minute and win the draw for their money back. ::) ::)

The "no contacts" is a codeword for entry to the moaners club PP,  along with those other favourite soundbites "ambitious" and "cheap option" .

We happy clappers have our own code ,  "sustainable"  "realistic"

Looking through the forums it seems most the managers in BSN are getting back from their holidays abroard to the sunshine of England .
Should be a bit of transfer activity within the next week or two.

K.O.N. You really don,t have even 1 little grey cell to call your own. If you ain,t going to any matches why does it matter to you who plays. You are trying to be a wind up merchant and failing spectacularly. I truly believe that a player can be ordinary at one club and spectacular at another. No matter who if a person isn't happy where they work they won't put in the effort. At least if you don't attend the matches there ain't a cat in hells chance you will stand near me and
p--s me off.  :P :P :P :P
