The B-Ark / Re: Westcarr & Lees Moving On
« on: September 26, 2018, 08:26:14 PM »
But at this level costly to move on or not, if they stop getting selected it's the kiss of death for what is at best a precarious semi-pro career aspiration. And many then move on anyway just to get games. This is what CE now has to do, pick a nucleus of a starting 11, let em settle and gel. Make the most minor changes to the Start 11 to deal with injuries and suspensions only; and let it settle and gel. It's getting so ridiculous that regular fans don't know who they've come to watch on a Saturday- until 2.57pm it's a guess (unless you buy a teamsheet and then you don't recognsie half the names).

where to start? other that to agree with most comments so far. This is Graham Drury standard BUFC football.

1. Passes from defence and midfield were just desparate hoofs to anywhere up the pitch but rarely to a BUFC body
2. I think we won no crossed balls in their box until Greg came on and even then they were mainly off target (a point GS raised in his post-match interview on BBC)
3. Our defence looks like it can't be bothered most of the time. In contrast the no.s 4 and 5 central pairing for PS were awesome, bossed their own box completely; better than any of the defenders we had today. Bet they would not move from PS to BUFC even if asked.
4. I've been pretty loyal to Craig so far, but it's as if he's run out of ideas. Sure Nosher looks like he'll be a quality signing, and whilst we all love GS to bits for his effort and personality, he don't look fit and I feel it's a signing borne out of desperation as much as an eye for talent.
5. In his own post-match interview Criag stated that more than a few players have been told or will be told to move on; that he'd rather work with lower quality players that try hard and do what's asked of them, than expensive showboats that won't out in the hard yards. I fear this has to happen fast or it will be Craig himself who is asked to move on.
6. True our league position is still ok and yes we have gone out of the FA cup (but hardly different in that respect to many previous seasons. What really rattles me now though is the sense of panic and lack of cohesion that is beginning to surface behind the scenes.
7. Finally today was an insult to fans who turn up and pay extra money (over and above the season ticket, the teamsheet draws, the golden goals etc.). An embarrassment even if I can't spell it right.

The B-Ark / Re: Kidderminster today
« on: September 01, 2018, 07:25:35 PM »
In the defeats to date there was a sense of being the better side, but failing to convert chances and being done in the end by sucker punches and very fine margins. Today, clearly the worse side (although Kiddy look to me the best side we've played so far), and failed to take the chances (again!!) that just might have seen it 2-2 with a spoonful of luck thrown in. But some appallingly poor performances out there today on the whole. Davies and Walker, Middleton when he came on, all in the clear for me; but the rest....below the required standard; even George was a bit silly at times inbetween the sticks.

It is far too early to panic but CE has serious work to do. BTW anyone know why was Margetts not on bench? (has there been a falling out behind the scenes?).

Question: did anyone on the Spayne road side see the offence? was it a red?

I said after Saturday Margets and Marriot simply don't have enough desire to wear the yellow shirt; they should sort themselves out or move on. They are not doing us a favour 'playing down to help lowly BUFC' unless they will put it all on the line for us on the field of play. (Only listened to the BPA commentary so won't offer an ill informed opinion via the radio on what happened yesterday) but it sounds like that would not have changed my opinion so far.

Anyone know much about him? More of a Smith than a Thompson???

My real worry is the talk of Cowley Bros eventually being poached by a bigger club than Lincoln and the latter having one eye on CE already! (because of the qualities you talk about). But could he leapfrog a league and suceed? I guess that is irrelevant if we go up ;)

Agree. Sort our hesitant/suspect back line. And a bigger stronger target man up front, like the much-maligned but actually both very useful Rhead and Denton.

Good on CE for making the decisions now. I don't think it's mind games. McCoombe would be best allowed to leave (shoved) now. Defence altogether lacked cohesion and confidence last night vs. Lincoln City (albeit the latter had some serious quality on show). I can see the frontline might come good esp. if Andre Johnson gets more of an early look in. But we are going to ship goals at a huge rate if what played against Lincoln at the back comes out every Saturday. On paper this side looked top quartile for NLN; fear it will be lower half of NLN unless CE acts on his instincts and sorts the 40%. Wonder what Danny Cowley offered to Craig by way of his observations on BUFC post match.

Agree it will be very sad YC. I used to bike from Fishtoft, aged 7, to my Aunty Florence at no.13 York Street, dump bike in her yard and walk last 20 paces to the ground. Now aged 54, still going down that same street past Auntie Florrie's for every home game. End of an era for sure.
