If you keep playing the same way and then concede , everyone will say why didn't the manager shore up the defence or just play more defensive ?

Keep attacking and score a third and the manager is a genius.

Personally, I feel we're not good enough defensively to sit back and invite pressure. We were good enough last season but that's when we had Piergianni at the back.

After the shouting and balling last week and taking into account the absence of Agnew and Smith, yesterday went pretty well.

It didn't help that we were missing Smith. He's someone who can drop back when required, and win all the headers (like he does at defensive set pieces).

We don't have anybody else remotely like Smith.

Thank you all for your suggestions - but I'm not convinced. I've seen it go wrong too often!

That is the nature of football and for every player, team, manager etc that get's it right, there has to be an opposing player, team, manager etc that gets it wrong.  It's what makes football such an interesting spectacle and why all fans have to take the highs with the lows.

But how often? You probably only remember the ones we don't win...
