Title: Attractive game this Tuesday night 7pm
Post by: cookie on December 08, 2014, 06:32:48 PM
Tuesday night sees Boston United Under 21's entertain a very strong Grimsby Town XI, who could play their first eleven after being without a game last Saturday.
United will also have quite a few of the first team squad playing for fitness alongside trialists and some of the youth team.
Kick off is 7.00pm and entrance is £2 and £1 for concessions.
Wrap up and get yourself down to The Jakemans to support these young lads!

I think Liverpool v Basle is the attractive and most important one! Why does the club arrange games on these dates?

What night suits you?
Wednesday? More Champions league
Thursday? Training night
Friday? Night before game for those getting match time
Saturday? Poss when 1st teams away.
I quite like Sunday afternoons.
Who would be a football manager? :)

To suit BUFC? Hardly going to be a big crowd anyway.

Saturdays no good! These guys want to play in a proper League that day! Friendlies should only be played midweek but, unless they are against a well known team, are never going to be attractive. Club should have never disbanded its proper Reserve Team even if they were still playing in that awful Lincolnshire League. Should have applied to join Peterborough League or Anglian Combination to continue playing competitive football. Now we have The Quadrant and a new stadium on the way, I am sure we could have afforded the extra few travelling miles to fund a true 2nd XI. Too late now as all decent 2nd XI players are playing elsewhere - an opportunity lost for the foreseeable future. Enjoy the game!

The way Liverpool are playing, there won't be any midweek games to clash with after tonight.  ;)

Recording the Liverpool game and watching it after the Boston game seems a good option.

From the official website
Boston United under-21s are in action at The Jakemans Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Pilgrims will entertain what is expected to be a strong Grimsby Town XI (kick-off 7.00pm).Jamie McGhee and Marc Newsham will once again feature for the Pilgrims — after combining as substitutes for Saturday’s equaliser against Brackley Town.
With Grimsby inactive since November 29, manager Paul Hurst is likely to field a strong side for his first return to Boston since leaving in March 2011.
The Wilson and Co Vauxhall Stand will be open for spectators — with admission priced £2 for adults and £1 for concessions.
The Pilgrim Lounge will be open throughout the evening too.

Some supporters who have watched most of the U21 games so far this season will agree that the quality has been much better than the Lincs League games over the past couple of years. We enquired about going into quite a few leagues, and none were deemed suitable either because of quality or costs in travelling.

Personally I would like to have seen the Youth Team take the place of the reserves in the Lincs League but the pitch at The Jakemans would then taken a lot more hammer from too many games. Perhaps in the future the club's structure will be reformed again to fill that gap between the youth team and the U21's, as it is very difficult to have a squad of Boston United players available for the U21's ...and then available for the first team on a Saturday.

Out played for much of the game by a better side. Vince was the outstanding player for us making several fine saves to keep the score respectable.
