BOSTON UNITED will go to court in a bid to claim compensation for former managers Paul Hurst and Rob Scott after Grimsby Town opted against an arbitration process.

The pair quit York Street for the Mariners in March but United chairman David Newton believes there was no "mechanism within their terms that allowed them to resign."

Hurst and Scott led the Pilgrims to promotion from the UniBond Premier Division last season and left them well-placed in this season's Blue Square Bet North.

The club, under Jason Lee and Lee Canoville, eventually lost in the play-off semi-finals to Guiseley.

"We made the offer of going through the court route or through arbitration, and we're going through the court route," said Newton.

"I'm very sad, not about Grimsby but certainly about Rob Scott and Paul Hurst."

Newton said a court battle would not affect his club's dealings with the Mariners should they come in for any of the Pilgrims' players, such as central defender Shaun Pearson.
