Has been playing in the Spalding Sunday League this season. Never rated him when he was playing under Taylor, seemed far too lightweight.
Is he the kid that played right wing despite playing a game for the academy in the morning and still managed to make Taylor's signings look like statues?
no but i will be taking a car full anyway
i dont think too much to jackson but he is only young and can improve. Think the joint manager hurst would be our best bet at left back. Just my opinion though. we cant afford for improvement we need to get out of this league now and think he is too inexperienced.
Great post from mats84. Certainly gives some food for thought, I've long thought the fans of this club can at times be its biggest enemy getting on the backs of players and management. Its sad that some people have even started moaning about the new managers before any friendlies or even training! Last season I actually stopped using my season ticket because I got sick of people getting on the players backs and that was after about two games! We will never get the best out of our own players if we continue slagging them off, especially before they have even had the chance to prove themselves. I've said it before and I'll say it again, its the opposition who should find York Street a hostile place to play, not our own players.
Anyway good luck to all the players for the future ncluding Danny Matson for the future. I doubt wether any one of them would have wished for last season to work out how it did and would have wanted to be succesful as much as we did.
Must say I'm quite happy with the signings that have been made so far... Any idea when we're going to get anyone else in though? I'm hoping that our younger players impress enough during pre-season training to be signed on perm contracts such as Beck and Jackson... Also any ideas when the new strip will be ready to buy, quite fancy having a new one this year. Up the Pilgrims!!!
Thats both the slight worry and the conundrum PP.
We haven't signed many, and surely it means only a couple of things,
a)the managers are struggling to convince players to travel from Derbyshire (it is a trek),
b)dont have intimate knowledge of local players,
c) possibly they have so many irons in so many fires (player wise) that they are waiting for the futures of a lot of their targeted players who may be trialling at clubs in higher leagues to be determined before pouncing
or.....
ignoring all that, they might simply be both on their hols and in the next couple of weeks a whole posse of players will be signed
Is it really that much of a trek? hour and a half to play football which all players should be prepared to do if they love playing, oh and i think they do get payed fairly well if you work out the hours that they actually work....
It might be an hour and a half on a Saturday morning with nothing on the roads Dave, but you could stick up to another hour at 5.30 in the evening, a bit more if they come from the Rotherham/Sth Yorks area and 2 maybe 3 times a week, certainly initially just for training, when for a month I imagine they get no wages, it actually comes to quite a few hours and a fair bit of petrol money
Maybe, just maybe, before someone suggests any negatives here, its why some players here last year were offered less for the coming season. Logically if any players were making such a trek they presumably will want and will have to be paid accordingly
In truth, I imagine I would I would

I know there on holiday at mo does anyone know when they are due back.
Maybe Ken or someone could kindly list how the form of the likes of Ilkeston Eastwood and Nantwich held up through the months of last season .. was it steady progress or mid-season surge . ?.
Then we could compare to our team's (early ?) progress 2009 /2010..
There is a great local talent going to pre-season, just wait until the end of the month/start of July and Im sure he will have signed and will definatley create and score goals next season.
