I knew nothing about the fire on the day itself.
We had gone to Wembley on a privately run bus, and went into London after the game. We picked up the coach again outside Kings Cross station at around midnight, picking up the Sunday paper as we did so, and obviously the fire was front page news.
A sad day indeed, but with finding out late, my memory of the game is as vivid as the day after - what a goal Cookie!!!!!
Still, that aside, it is a day of reflection, and condolences to all affected. The only good news to come from the tragedy was the way in which stadiums were forced to be updated, and look at the quality of the stadia that we have today.
I can't believe that 25 years have passed tho.
