The B-Ark / Brackley Town Play-Off Final ticket allocation
« on: April 29, 2024, 10:46:57 AM »
Let’s hope that there is a sensible ticket allocation for BUFC supporters for the Play-Off Final.

Chorley were allocated 1,000 for the semi-final, but took just a rather paltry 387.

I hope that the powers-that-be recognise that Boston United supporters travel in much larger numbers, and they take note of the following at both Alfreton and Scunthorpe.

You’d hope that we would be allocated at least the same 1,000, but given that the ground is shown as having a capacity of 3,500 – and the overall attendance yesterday was 1,889 – you’d think there ought be some way of accommodating more visiting supporters.

1,502 home fans turned out on Saturday – and the overall attendance would only have been 2,502 had Chorley sold-out, so you’d think there ought to be scope to allow the gate to be nearer 3,500 on Saturday.

It will all depend, of course, how the Brackley ground can be configured for segregation to allow for a higher away allocation, and any 'political decision' being made to try and make sure the home support is not outnumbered by the away support in a match being broadcast live on TV.

The B-Ark / SOUTHPORT (a)
« on: August 18, 2023, 06:28:21 PM »
For those venturing to Southport tomorrow don't forget to buy your tickets online tonight if you want to avoid the £2.50 hike they put on tickets sold on matchdays.

Could be a tad busier in Southport tomorrow too with the Annual Flower Show going on over the weekend.

And let's hope we don't give Southport any help tomorrow in bringing an end to their 11 consecutive defeats. Unlike the current naming right sponsors of the Haig Avenue ground. I see from my ticket we're playing them in The Big Help Stadium!!

The B-Ark / The return of football to Gigg Lane

After Bury's expulsion from the EFL, and then their close neighbours Oldham (last season) and Rochdale (this season) being relegated from the EFL, a bit of good football news for this part of Greater Manchester.

The B-Ark / Southport : Tuesday 14th March
« on: March 13, 2023, 11:25:38 AM »
It's a big night for the Southport manager Liam Watson tomorrow night - it will be his 500th league match in charge.

I can still remember Watson playing against us as a very decent winger/striker for both Runcorn and Marine.

Anyhow, let's hope we make it a miserable milestone for him, and he's just as unhappy in his post-match interview as the Blyth manager was on Saturday.

The B-Ark / Alfreton Town (a)

From their interviews after the Kettering game IC and Luke Shiels at least realise that its not going to be pretty on Saturday.

The Chester fans certainly weren't impressed with Alfreton and their tactics on Tuesday night - and this comment from one fan seems to sum things up:-

"A game of anti-football by the thugs of Alfreton."

Let's hope we come through Saturday physically unscathed and don't let them frustrate us so that the referee starts brandishing his cards in our direction. Maybe a game to give Jake Wright a rest???

The B-Ark / Mick Fixter RIP
« on: September 26, 2022, 09:24:25 AM »
Heard from my sister in Boston last night that a mutual friend informed her that Mick Fixter has passed away suddenly.

Mick, of course, was our matchday announcer and, as well as football, he was a great speedway fan.

I watched a fair few of BUFC's away matches stood alongside Mick, and chatted to him on those occasions he came to watch speedway at Belle Vue's National Speedway Stadium up here in Manchester.

Anyone watching the latest Premiership Speedway match on Eurosport from Peterborough would have spotted Mick, and his friend John, sat in the grandstand  when the cameras panned through the crowd.

Back at the end of last season my friend David & I were acknowledged jointly as Lifelong Pilgrims.  Mick gave us a great intro at the beginning of the match and popped into Club85 for a chat at the end.

Mick was a really nice chap, and sincere condolences to Mick's family and friends.
