I travel into Manchester everyday to work on the bus from the Bolton direction. As you can imagine, there is absolute traffic chaos this morning and roads are virtually gridlocked. Outside Salford University (about a mile or a little more from the city centre) a police officer boarded the bus and explained the problems ahead and suggested people might like to get off and walk. Well, would you believe, two folks started ranting and having a go at him about the inconvenience this was causing??!! The policeman was very calm, smiled and said to them quietly something like 'That's a bit of a selfish attitude to take, why not think about those caught up in last night's events. And, anymore from you and you'll be nicked, and then you will have some real inconvenience'. All the other passengers broke out in spontaneous applause!!
